- This is an overview of our islands project in Bayou Bienvenue in Chalmette, Louisiana! We built one island with our recycled glass sand and one with sediment from the Mississippi River. You hear from some of the scientists and engineers on the NSF-backed team about our process and research. This was filmed back in April when we had just started construction on the islands. They are now complete and we will be planting the Cypress trees on them in a few weeks.
This video was filmed and edited by Crista Rock!
I love that we can get longer videos from you here!!🎉

Hey, gotta love environmental repair in Louisiana. God knows we need it. My grandpa campaigned for years trying to get the barrier islands rebuilt while warning the city of New Orleans and the state about the inevitability of Katrina, but they ignored him and Katrina came just as he predicted. So much needs to be done all over the state, though, and it's really awesome to see you guys doing this work. Just stumbled across you in the YT shorts. Keep up the good work!
Thank you ❤❤❤
I was recently in New Orleans and went on a swamp tour. Had a fantastic Captain who is also on the conservation board. Humbled by the amount of land lost and the lakes that are now salt water. Keep up the good work young lady. God bless.
@@rondavenport4512 swamp tour captains are the best! I hope you had a good time while in town
