      @@YellowProductions I'm a Bakersfield native and still live here and I actually spent the night at the Padre Hotel when it was still run down and had no working elevator when I was 18 back in 1994. I remember going to the bar there when I had just turned 21 in 1997 & it was a total seedy dive bar then not at all nice & refined as it is now & it had a mannequin of a woman sitting on a swing hanging from the middle of the ceiling!! My friend had a guy friend who lived there in 1994 & it was definitely a scary place then especially at night! I tried sleeping on a chair and I swear I could hear footsteps walking around in the room we were in while the other 2 people were sleeping. I could hear what sounded like a woman whispering but I couldn't make out what she was saying. It scared me so much that I woke up my friend the guy & told them what I had just experienced & the guy said that he hears those same creepy noises every night and he was just used to it. He said that sometimes it felt as though someone was laying on the bed next to him and that he definitely hears a woman whispering. He said that he would also see a whitish figure of a woman standing near the drapes of the one window in the room! I made my friend Stacy take me home immediately!!

    you did an amazing job! love how you give a first person walkthru of everything- lobby, outside, hallway, gym, different room layouts, bathrooms. good eye catching the view of the mural in the lobby as you enter- it is breathtaking, and i didn’t realize you could see the fox theater at the end of the hallway like that. i live in bakersfield and you absolutely nailed everything. now i need to go try that french toast with the hot syrup jar.

    Before they remodeled The Padre it was such a seedy hotel. 20 years ago me and my best friend went to see if we could find any scary stuff….the only thing that was frightening was getting on the old elevator….. and we went to the very top and took the stairs back down. The hallways were dark and kind of creepy and I remember there were roaches in the stairwell. The only part that was “lively” was the old bar downstairs that never carded anyone. Lol I have stayed at this hotel twice since the remodel. Once for my best friends birthday and another time for a wedding. The suites are really nice!

    Yay! My hometown! I’m so happy to see you stayed at the Padre Hotel! I drive by there once in awhile. One thing you didn’t show was the rooftop patio, they have seating and a bar and used for parties. My dad is a musician and he and a friend of his plays music there once in awhile. If we go there just for dinner, we just park on a side street and don’t have to pay. But it’s good that parking structure doesn’t charge so much like places in L.A. or San Francisco charge so much for parking. Next time you visit here, try the Basque restaurants or Crystal Palace. 😁

    • @YellowProductions

    Went to college in Bakersfield and have done a couple of Uber eats/ Door dash deliveries to the padre hotel. Very nice! I have also heard multiple stories about the ghost hauntings on the 4/5th floor. I don't remember which floor it was but knowing the story behind the hotel while delivering food really gave me rush and excitement as to what kind of ghost im going to see walking down the hall with Denny's pancakes in my hands.. Even talked to the doorman about the hotel and the spooky stories and he said to me "Yes I heard one of the floors with a certain room is haunted. Good thing I am only the doorman" we both shared a laugh as I left.

      The van was found, but there was a lot of stuff missing. It was the first van from that company that had got stolen, so they were really sorry. It’s all good now though. Oh and we still have some of the furniture from the hotel from before it was remodeled. Some really cool old stuff!

    I remember when this was being remodeled. It definitely is like night and day compared to what it used to be. Too bad you couldn't show the roof top lounges. That being said, this hotel is right next to the Greyhound bus station and there is a lot of crime around in general. Not my favorite area to be walking around at night. Still, it's a favorite event venue for locals.

    • @helpfulcommenter
      @helpfulcommenter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The greyhound bus station is closed and has been for a long time. If you go east from the hotel you are in downtown and it’s bad and gets worse the further east you go. If you go west then you’re in one of the nicest neighborhoods in Bakersfield

      Hell no - unless you have to come here for some reason like work or a wedding then stay the hell away. The ONLY exceptions to this are if you’re into country music or Basque food and culture. There’s nothing else worth visiting for no matter what anyone else says. Simply breathing the air here takes months off your life span.

    I wouldn’t recommend staying in downtown. The area isn’t very safe especially for women at night or sometimes even in the day. If you can, I would recommend just staying at a friends house. And if you don’t have any friends here, then there’s a better and safer hotel next to Edwards theater. Bakersfield isn’t a safe place to be and it’s definitely not a good vacation stop. I’ve lived here 18 years and I wouldn’t recommend moving here to anyone…

    If you want to meet the craziest and most dangerous people in Bakersfield, maybe California in general, you can stroll the streets surrounding the hotel. The worst thing about this hotel is that you actually have to go to Bakersfield to stay there. This review and pictures of this hotel give people the impression that Bakersfield is actually somewhere you'd want to visit. Couldn't be further from the truth. It's horrible.

  • @mamadeutsch4869
    @mamadeutsch4869 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So when I stay there, I'm going to be charged $1.00 an hour to sleep there and if I use the valet parking, it's going to cost me $15.00 to have a kid park it in the same garage! Then you better tip the kid or he'll f@ck up your car! Just drive it across the street yourself!
    There is no night life except to go to bars that aren'teven good like in New Orleans, it's not like there's a real night life of a broadway show like enterainment. Downtown Bakersfield after dark is a place to get your drink on.
    Kern county, come on vacation, leave on probation, return on revocation!
