PLEASE DON'T GO. You honestly don't know how much these snippets into your true appreciation for quasi- and semi-popular films mean to me. They are truly interesting and I've enjoyed all of them! If this is the last time I'm going to be watching your videos than bon voyage and thanks for the memories!
Thank you so much for all the film recommends. Because of you, I've went back to films i forgot about and discovered ones, that have become ferme favourites.
It's a shame to hear you're not making any more videos. I've had a number of fantastic recommendations off of you that have entered my collection. I hope you have a wonderful new year and continue to enjoy rubbish (and good) films :D
An absolute shame that this is the end. I've really enjoyed your content and I'll be here if you ever start back up. Thanks for adding yet another film on to my list! Blade Runner is one of my favorites, I will have to check out this one out.
Thank you for watching! As I say in the video, the Blade Runner comparisons are so obvious to me that I don't know why the films don't get paired up on a frequent basis.
Great video. I never thought about Bladerunner when watching this movie. Feel like this just unlocked something that was always there that I completely overlooked. They are very similar and I have to agree with you as well that Bladerunner is pretty boring but is so aesthetically pleasing, you end up wanting to rewatch it. I love this movie so much. It's Michael Mann at his peak after he had already used a lot of this stylistic imagery all over the Miami Vice series. Despite never directing a single episode, the first and second season had his fingerprints all over it and you could feel it with a vibe. I see Manhunter compared to Red Dragon a lot; a film that had an all star cast but was rather forgettable. Mann is the type of director that I believe who is like a football coach who you can give a roster of average players and he'll still figure something out for a winning season. Give him some great actors like Pacino and DeNiro and you end up with a championship caliber movie like Heat.
@@INDEFENCEOF I agree with you there. The entire movie is forgettable and they overplay Lector, who really isn't that big of a deal to the story even in the original book.
I read Red Dragon in my campervan in New Zealand and always meant to watch Manhunter as it seemed a more faithful adaptation of the book. You've reminded me to watch it! I'll buy you some Bungles
I've only seen Bullet In The Head out of those! I was considering doing City on Fire but thought that might be pushing the boundaries of the channel, it's mostly heralded and quite well known due to the Reservoir Dogs connection.
Dude, you saw the same correlation I saw. Both "Blade Runner" & "Manhunter" are visually exquisite neo-noir with gorgeous electronic music. Mann has become a favorite due to this film alone. Your analysis is spot on. I hope at some point you return to this program as this was a marvelous series that really revitalised my love of cult film. Have a happy New Year friend. 😊
Thanks for the kind words! This is my personal favourite Mann flick but the guy's entire library is stellar. Apart from the 2006 Miami Vice movie which I wanted to walk out of...
The comparison between this and Blade Runner is even crazier when you consider both of the main characters' side arms; Deckard's iconic sci-fi blaster is modeled around a real gun, specifically the Charter Arms Bulldog, a five-shot, compact, and powerful revolver. And wouldn't you know, Graham carries the same 44 special Charter Arms Bulldog, albeit without all the techno-aesthetics.
Making videos is hard and I lost the drive. Also, I had less than 300 subs when I stopped and now I have 1000+. I get more views when I'm *not* making videos. :)
I lost the drive! Each video from start to finish took anywhere between 8 to 24 hours and I kinda got burnt out. I occasionally consider a return but it would likely a be a one-off.
Cold Harvest is simply an underrated Gary Daniels movie, and the director (Isaac Florentine) also deserve more recognition. This movie is a hidden gem!
Your series was so good it’s such a shame you are ending it. Thank you so much for the entertainment and especially for covering ‘The House On The Edge Of The Park’ a film that doesn’t get the spot light often.
Cheers for watching! The University of Wales, Aberystwyth did a study a few years back into banned movies. They really delved deeply into House on the Edge of the Park and if you can stomach academic writing it's well worth tracking down the PDFs online.
what? final episode? you cant go, theres still so much hidden movie gems that you havent uncovered. Your videos are truly enjoyable and entertaining, i really enjoyed all of them. PLEASE COMEBACK
When I first started the channel I was COMPELLED to make the videos. I loved doing it. Over time I still enjoy it but I don't feel the drive I did at the start. Rather than force myself to pump out sub-par vids I decided just to pack it in altogether... for now!
@@INDEFENCEOF I see. I'm glad you did a video for "Deadly Bet" I remember mentioning that in an earlier message. Thank You. I was hoping you would have done a video for another PM entertainment film "The Sweeper" with C. Thomas Howell. Maybe in the future. Take care, dude.
Completely agree with you on the whole “but it’s dated” argument. Who cares? You clearly don’t and I don’t either. I’m a huge (like it’s my all time favourite franchise) James Bond fan and I love the stylistic changes the films went through as each decade progressed. It makes them more interesting and unique. I once had a friend who said the only good James Bond movies were the Daniel Craig entries and that the others were “dated and silly” and that I was mad for liking them. _I wonder if they’ll ever find his body…_
The long running franchises like Bond can't help but reflect what's going on in popular entertainment around the time they were made, that's as much of the story of each film as the actual plot as far as I'm concerned :)
@@INDEFENCEOF That about sums it up. The most obvious example of what you said is right at the end of The Spy Who Loved Me. The final title card states “James Bond will return in For Your Eyes Only” but of course Star Wars came out the same year, so they gave us Moonraker in 1979 instead!
Bro manhunter is a masterpiece of art. It’s not all about nonstop action and cgi effects. It’s an atmospheric masterpiece with an amazing score.
PLEASE DON'T GO.

One of my favourite films too.

Thanks for spending time watching my videos! Rediscovering an old favourite can be more enjoyable than finding a new one I think. :)

Thanks for the kind words, it makes me beam to know that people have actually gone and watched the films I've recommended!
You deserve a lot more recognition for your work. Fantastic work.
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it :)
Best film and soundtrack ever.

Thank you for expressing exactly how I feel about this film.
thanks for all you've done with this series, it was a good run.
Cheers for watching!
Such a fantastic movie.
Thank you for this....God I love this film!
Thanks for the fantastic videos Mike. Shame to see you stop but I'll still read your Twitter. Oh, and Loaded Weapon 1 is great!
IT'S SO GOOD! "Looks like a suicide - she must have caught herself by surprise..."

Red Dragon was a rather transparent excuse to get Hopkins back on screen as Lector in my opinion, definitely not a patch on Manhunter for me.
@@INDEFENCEOF I agree with you there. The entire movie is forgettable and they overplay Lector, who really isn't that big of a deal to the story even in the original book.
I just found your amazing channel 😍
Come backkkkkk
I read Red Dragon in my campervan in New Zealand and always meant to watch Manhunter as it seemed a more faithful adaptation of the book. You've reminded me to watch it! I'll buy you some Bungles
I dunno if it's more faithful as they cut out a lot of the details around Dolarhyde's life and upbringing, but it's definitely the better film.
That Wolverine looking longingly at the picture of Jean Gray meme, but instead of Jean Gray, it's this channel.
Another fantastic piece.
Would love to see you do Lam's THE ADVENTURERS, BULLET IN THE HEAD, THE SADIST, DR LAMB.

4 years later, still no Taffin review. The people want, nay, demand it!
Pierce Brosnan threatened my family, what was I supposed to do?!
@@INDEFENCEOF Whenever something like that happens to me, I ask myself "What would Taffin do". And then I smash up the place.
It's 2020. When are you making a new video?
When my dad gets back from the shops. It's been 19 years so he should be home anytime now.
I've only just found your brilliant channel.

Cold harvest IS a dark tower movie and one day I am going to write an essay on why this is 100% fact.
His name. Is Roland. Chainey.
It's necessary to own two copies of Cold Harvest in order to be sure.
I have to keep them in different parts of the house lest the awesome power of the Gary overcome me

Your last video?! You have directed me to many good flicks that I have never heard of.
That was my hope when I started the channel and it warms my heart that you've checked out my recommendations. :)

Last video but you haven't reviewed DANGER DIABOLIC yet?
I would have covered something by Mario Bava eventually I'm sure.
Can you review Roger Corman's Galaxy of Terror and Forbidden World aka Mutant 1982??? I would appreciate it, Thanks!!!!!
I'm not reviewing any more but I LOVE Galaxy of Terror and it's a shame I didn't get round to it.
Maybe one day you'll remember the password for your TH-cam account and you can start posting again!
