    It's a bold strategy. It seems like they theorized that no female player is good enough to compete with Huang in the front, and if she's allowed to do whatever she wants in the front, it's game over because both Huang and Zheng would gain so much confidence. So let's have a guy fight her then. I think the element of surprise is that Kim is a very tall player and his experience in MD allowed him to intercept mid-court and initiate rapid flat exchanges, which completely dominated Huang at the net in this game. Jeong, on the other hand, did a very good job at keeping the bird down whenever she is in the back, and constantly rotating to confuse the Chinese.
    Yuta and Arisa tried something similar some time ago also against Zheng and Huang and the Thais; Yuta constantly rotated to the front to fight Huang, and Arisa in the back. It was a very close game, but they lost in the end so I haven't seen them used it again since. Yuta did ok in that game, but Arisa smashes got countered so hard; this is also the part where I think Jeong did a lot better than Arisa. Jeong smashes and placements were "soft" and more accurate compared to Arisa, taking the pace out of the bird, making it difficult for the Chinese to drive back quickly.
    Kim and Jeong did a fantastic job to overcome such monumental opponents. However, to think that players have to go to such length to beat Zheng and Huang, they are truly the best of the best.

      this is a good analysis, the famale player partially smashes in the back court to set it up, while male player executes in the front.

    Kim Won Ho once said in an interview that he wanted to be better than his mom - an Olympic champion, haha. I think he can. His mom must be so proud and heaving a sigh of relief seeing her son make a name for himself, instead of living in her shadow 🥰

    Kim Won Ho really stepped up with all the drop shots and cross drops shots which were AMAZING.
    Jung Na Eun.. she held the fort. Her defense was everything Kim needed to execute. Jung Na Eun improved soooo much compared to the English Open and Sudirman Cup.
    They won 100% by their skills. No luck included. The Chinese pair was stunned by the unexpected AWESOMENESS of the Korean pair.

    Throughout the match you will rarely see the Korean pair lift the shuttle, they have a very quick pace, and they play middle court most of the time... Jeong Naeun's defense is really good and whenever she is on back court her shots might deadly or create an advantage for her partner to intercept the shuttle on the front court... And Kim Wonho's soft shots is good.... This pair is much better than Seo/Chae in my opinion.... I would love to see their progress in the near future.... 😊

    • @evskimojo
      @evskimojo 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Seo is an amazing control player-his ability to place the shuttle in gaps is among the best in the game. Kim Wonho is a better drive and rush player with quicker reactions. Very different styles, but Kim is definitely not a better soft player.

      @@helenmayor7109 I would disagree with this also. I find Seo one of the most unique players on tour. He has a huge smash but despite this, he chooses to move the shuttle around and finds really awkward and unexpected spots, constantly mixing up the pace. Watch some of their All England matches. Kim can play his more rushing/aggressive style due to his partner being excellent at the back and in defence. Both are unique and work well with their partners.

    The commentator is absolutely annoying. No world#1 in any sport will always win. However this commentator described how unbelievably if the Korean pair win for almost the entire second game, instead of focusing on the skills and game itself. These phrases are biased and brought extremely unpleasant experience to Zheng/Huang’s fans. The commentator sounds more excited than anyone in the world to see Zheng/Huang lose. I miss Gillian Clark.
    What makes me most uncomfortable is that the commentator described players as Korean and Chinese instead of their names too many times in the second game. We do not need unprofessional commentator like this.
    Do not stir up trouble. Do your job. Stick to the game itself.

      @evskimojo 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      He was being very respectful to both of the pairs. In emphasising the point that the win would be remarkable, he was being very complimentary to Zheng/Huang. He mentioned their names many times in the video, but did also refer to them by their nationality, which is much quicker to say on a regular basis. I didn’t notice anything one way or another. It was an extremely good performance by the Korean pair, which takes nothing away from the Chinese pair. And yes, they are Korean and Chinese respectively. There’s no disrespect in that. It sounds like you’re upset simply because they lost when they were expected to win, and that this was highlighted by the commentator. It’s not disrespectful. Whether you found his commentary interesting or not is a totally different matter.

      @@evskimojo It's ridiculous that you think fans "expect players to win". You are not real fan if you think in that way. And don't assume ppl are all like you.
      Zheng/Huang are ranking #1 but no one expect them to win vs any pairs all the time. Korean pair is good and is rising star. Zheng/Huang did lose games in their first Olympic cycle and this is well accepted by all their fans. Do some research.
      Stop using words "you sounds like" as this is purely speculating on a negative way, with no evidence. Gillian Clark never brought this uncomfortable commentary in any game I watched, regardless of win or lose, regardless of who I support. Proper tune, unbiased, respect players performance, not distracting the game by her own emotions.

    SMall tournament,, I always say something that Huang lady----- as seed 1 player,, she doesn't seems deserve seed 1,, to me she may rank seed 6.. her front net shot is far from lethal, just fail to make a kill in many case due to poor shuttle placement,, as a seed 1 player, you must enable to punch and kill at the front,,,
    the other korean lady----chea can do it,, japanese lady hirashino can do it,, how come as seed 1---huang not doing better than them??? why???? only this is heavy enough,, difficult enough to hurt the guy----zheng siwei was forced over loaded , burn out excessive amount of calories to win each single point,,
