Just got a used BMW310GS. Getting it set up in my garage this week. Wow mate, you are a glutton for punishment on that trail as we say here in Chicago Illinois!! Didn't know you could take a bike like that into such a "war zone"!
Accidentally took this road down the mountain in my triton with highway tyres a month ago It was one of the single scariest experiences of my life 😅. Good on ya for goin up it 🤙
@@motonickaustralia1126 have you done the ride from Beaudesert to woodenbong? After you get to pallen creek the twisty road is amazing. Oh shit covid👎 well when we open up again it's worth a ride! Also loins road if that's what it called it's loin something ya start at rathdowney.
@@datwistyman Yeh the Border, power happy freaks. I'm going to go camping down there soonish to check out Mt Barney and Condomine river road. It looks like a good area.
@@motonickaustralia1126 oh yeah cool. Last Christmas I went fineflower to stay on my aunt and uncle's cattle station I was burn out from the bush fires I reckon it would look amazing now.
Yeh there was, however the bottom gate was open, nothing was blocked off, i passed a 4wd which was going down when i was on the way up. I don't think they maintain it anymore so the track will likely get worse over time i think.
Yeh it's the main 4x4 track, it's narrow in some places but it's no fast road so theres plenty of time to make room for traffic. I only passed one 4x4 that was going down and that was at the lookout at the top. It was a great ride for the day, thanks for watching. :)
Just bought one myself. Hope ya getting out on yours more often, exercise is repetition. Or focus on nostril breathing. Know the outside world is a scary place after so much corona isolation. Incidentally the reason I could pay outright for it. Crypto boom. Either reason, ya doing good. I'll be panting like a dog when I get out on mine. Hermit prior to covid. Got L's in a few weeks. So have just stripped off the outer shell last night. Stop me from fines and to get familiar with the frame set up for mods. Was planning on buying something like a ktm 500+. But the savings on the bmw has put me in a position that I can do its exhaust, intake & ecu mapping. Planning to tow a trailer behind the bmw full of prospecting gear. Chance I went into the dealer, expecting to laugh at prices, or just maybe snag a 800+cc 2nd hand. Think it's gonna work out well. BMW has a wider rear with a few extra Kg's over any of the enduro bikes I was thinking. So should prove to be a better tractor. Few niggling concerns. Being should I aftermarket the front shocks, actually finding spoke tubeless rims that fit it. Then acquiring a ecu piggy back remap module. I see there's o2 sensor ones, but they're not going to suffice. Now the bike has electronic throttle compared to earlier models, I'm gonna ring round to see if that was the missing piece for the rapid bike - racing units from dimsport. If that's all good. Just a matter of mounting a trailer hitch and that's not a drama. The top case rack/pillion rider handles segment is bolted in 3X2 points to the frame. Hijack those, then shorten the taillight tounge to a 'bobcatted' arrangement. Easy because it's a modular setup. That bike frame is meant for street bikes too. So the lights are just on an extension. Change the tiers to nobbies. Change to a high mount exhaust, and then build a mud guard from the rear spring guard mounting points back and over the rear wheel. Soooo much potential in these bikes. Reviewers expect too much and know f'all. Cant see the wood through the trees.
@@motonickaustralia1126 Too much value. Would have bought the G 750 GS if the dealer didn't mention the price of the 310. Like 12k difference. Sure the 310 is made in India. But for what seemed like just a few extra cc's in difference between the two. I couldn't justify dropping 20k+ on a 750 when I've never ridden something similar. So BMW has kinda self harmed with that. Doubt there's many adventure bike buyers that would side step the 310. It's not like the motoX bikes where bigger the number on the side, more fun ya gonna have. 250 - 500cc motox bike weights are 100-120kgs. Then a close ratio with the enduro cc to weight. So ultimately can't go wrong buying a 400 as a 1st bike. Because the handling concern is throttle related. When I was looking at the 750 & 800 GS's. I was mentally putting together an air ram piston system to come out the sides to 'self' right it. They're great bikes from what I understand. So the 310 is either going to be a gateway bike. Or something that undoes the brand from mid life buyers in the long term. In Aus at least, because we do love dirt bikes. I've only ridden mine down the street 200m and back. If I weren't set on breaking warranty, I'd be upset about the engine/gearing. Or the slipper clutch? From a bike family perspective. It's like if the Yamaha TTR 80 was branded YZF 80. If the pee wee 80 had a 5 speed box, it'd beat the TTR 80 in top speed, not just to rev limit 3rd. Both the TTR and YZ's being 1st bikes. For those that aren't into bikes and have a 14yo boy pleading for a YZ 80 for xmas. But got a "YZF 80" (the miss badge agriculture thing with less guts than the peewee 80) Still a great thing to have. But nothing like it is not the same. So that's why I'm hoping that the Electric throttle was engineering decision for the aftermarket performance aspect. Can't find any reason they swapped from cable, other than anew thing for the spec sheet. Yes L plater emissions legal off the lot. But with 2-3k spent on it, a competent intermediate bike. You've seen the exhaust pipe diameter it has before the muffler. No way that's meant to be 2/3rds bigger than the muffler exit diameter.

Yeh, there was a few hard spots, was good fun testing out what it could do. Thanks for watching.

Dam it's washed out a bit I drove my Magna up there in 2001.
Great video still looks awesome. Fuck me it rough as guts now.
No Magna country now!

Was there any road closed signs? Best ride video of duck creek I’ve seen so far.

That track you went up on is the main one 4x4 use as well? Just think in the narrow rough sections I wouldn't want a car coming around the bend
