When somebody runs at you with a gun you're gonna do you best to disarm them as a last defense. If you don't try and disarm them your chances of getting shot skyrocket compared to trying to disarm them. some situations you have to. if there close with a gun then get close wrap them up. if its a knife run like hell. if its a gun and your a few feet away your screwed. your only chance is to attempt to disarm. his brain processed it and went for the safest route. it was either get close and attempt to disarm and push gun away. or turn run and get shot easily. the youth shouldnt ever have to face these situations .
Tip for barricading doors: don't stack upwards, stack sideways across the room all the way to the opposite wall. The door is then blocked against the wall and virtually impossible to open.
Not sure if this is true for al schools, but in mine at least, the doors open towards the hallway, so I think stacking up is the most effective.

When somebody runs at you with a gun you're gonna do you best to disarm them as a last defense. If you don't try and disarm them your chances of getting shot skyrocket compared to trying to disarm them.
