    It’s fascinating to me that Disney Princess and Disney Frozen are two separate franchises. Then again, Elsa and Anna are both queens (well, Elsa’s a mystical spirit now, but y’know), so I guess that makes sense.

    I’m assuming it’s because Frozen was so successful they can stand on their own. The rest of the princesses (while amazing) aren’t individually popular enough to stand alone. Like when princess and the frog came out or tangled you didn’t necessarily see every single girl dressed up as Tiana and Rapunzle you still saw little Cinderella, Ariel and belles walking around. But when Frozen came out, EVERY SINGLE LITTLE GIRL was dressing up as Elsa or Anna. Even Moana couldn’t top Elsa. I believe from a marketing standpoint (which Disney is a company) the Disney princess line works great because it’s able to support the princess who aren’t as popular like say Aura and Merida or even some of the characters who aren’t technically Disney princesses but Disney wants them to be supported by the line, I’d say this would be like the Elena of Avalon type characters. While we love them we can’t deny they aren’t always the most popular. But there also isn’t any princess that over or outshines the rest. To add Elsa and Anna in the mix they would completely dominate everything. Idk if this makes any sense but my little marketing and advertising major brain tells me this is the probably the reason.

    "Disney Princess," "Disney Frozen," " Disney Fairies" etc etc are Disney franchises. They are probably not merged due to themes not matching perfectly and/or extreme popularity(high profit on solo) which would allow it to be its own franchise.
    My nieces burnt me out on "The Little Mermaid" when they were little but I am interested in seeing how the live action fairs.

    At 63 years old nostalgia has become a way of life for me. Where I used to spend most of my time thinking into the future it's now spent enjoying fond memories of the past. When I was younger and old folk seemed to always want to talk about how it was in their day I thought they were trying to make the point that they had to work so much harder and now I realize this wasn't the case at all they simply wanted to share a time that was so dear to them. The TV shows that I really miss were things like Carol Burnett, all of the Lucille Ball sitcoms or shows like Mary Tyler Moore that were light, funny and entertaining. It was a great time in television because we were seeing women that were moving out of the wife and mother role and into a place of Independence. It's hard to believe that that was ever considered Innovative and new. This may be the wrong channel for this comment. Anyway what the heck. Would I go back if I could, absolutely. Things simply move and change too fast for most people from my generation. There's no time to enjoy and experience new things before a new model or a new fad arrives. My goodness I still have pairs of Levi's 501 button flies that are 30 years old. LOL anyway if anyone happens to make it through this comment you're very kind if you can relate say Hello it's always awesome to know that others are coming from a similar place. Big hugs❤

I LOVE the LOL Surprise Dolls! I almost always get the ones I want or the ultra rares. Shopping for this stuff helps my depression but then I get depressed again because then I’m out of money. The reason for the division is simply because of money. Frozen is such a successful brand on its own that they haven't separated from the Disney princess line. But they send them together because they don't want to separate Frozen completely because they are technically still princesses and have a similar demographic. It's just that no other Disney princess on their own is as successful as Frozen is so none of them are standout brands the way Frozen is, so they get lumped together as the Disney princess line rather than doing each princess as their own brand.
    The short version is: it's complicated. Lol.

    • @ChadMarvelous
      @ChadMarvelous ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's the same reason why some of the other Disney heroines are not included in the Disney princess line, it's because they're movies were not as successful, so they don't sell as much merchandise.

    I'll say that the one thing I don't mind about the cheaply made dolls is that they ARE cheaper in price. Not everyone can afford a higher priced doll, especially in the current economy. One of these dolls that most of us think of as cheap and poor quality might be the "big gift" for a child in a lower income home who REALLY wants a Disney doll for their birthday/Christmas/etc. Something a lot of collectors NEED to understand is that these dolls have their place. One of these budget dolls is going to be someone's favorite, most cherished childhood toy, even if they're not the highest quality. That's why I love and appreciate the budget dolls, because kids will love and enjoy them even with their scuplted tops and crinkly skirts and painted on panties.

    • @thisbeem2714
      @thisbeem2714 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear you. I also think they could do better for the budget toys. I don't think collectors are down on them for what they are. Mostly, I think we want kids to have better quality. I grew up quite poor. My Barbies were better than most budget dolls today. I played with them for years and them mynchild played with them. Not so with her budget Barbies from her generation. Those got left on the floor with tangled hair, molded on tops an no skirts. And wouldn't it be nice if kids could have a doll and then get more fashion packs for that doll? Instead of wanting or needing another doll? The kids deserve nice things.

    • @kattriella1331
      @kattriella1331 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thisbeem2714 They do deserve nice things, but things have gotten more expensive since we were kids. Good quality dolls cost more to make now. Mattel basically has two options: Use better materials and price the dolls above a point the children who NEED a cheaper option can afford, or lower the quality with cheaper materials and make it so that pretty much EVERY child has SOME option for a doll. Children deserve nice things, but we live in a world now where not every family can afford nice things for their children, but they CAN afford cheaper things that are still reasonably decent quality for them.

    They're worth more separated. The princesses are a stronger appeal together, while Frozen is a juggernaut. If they put Frozen dolls in with the other princesses, they overshadow the others, or become devalued, idk. It's hard to explain.
    Also Ariel was my favorite. Probably because she was a rebel and wouldn't be content with "no."

    Raya is an actual princess, she’s the Princess of Heart and she has her own palace. Unfortunately, the movie isn’t your typical disney princess movie, no songs just a bunch of action fighting. It wasn’t as successful or popular that’s why a lot of people look down on Raya. Frozen on the other hand WAS SO SUCCESSFUL it had to be made into it’s own franchise. The reason behind it are sales, Frozen merchandise alone makes a lot of money it is better off being its own franchise.

    The Hair of the ColorChange Ariel also changes Color. I guess your Sponge was not warm enough. It turns Pink i think.
    I have this Ariel but can not remember the Color Exactly. Because Mattel, Simba and Hasbro did the same thing in the Past with Ariel. She gets a Purple Streak that either turns Blue or Pink in warm Water. Simba did at least a different Color. She had Red Streaks that turn Orange.
    I truly think they should put more Color Change Hair on these Dolls. Like that just the Front row and the Part would be the Red Hair and the Rest would be the Color Change Fiber.
    Its also a pitty that Mattel released the exact Same Doll without the Color Change Feature. I do not understand why. She has just the red Hair and the Flowers on her Tail are not Painted.
    The Fin is terrible. Its sturdy. But so are the Fins of the Dreamtopia Mermaids. But those have a better Shape.
    Im a Mermaid Lover! I was obsessed with Mermaid before i know Ariel. So naturally she is my Favorite Disney Princess.
    And now i think the new Ariel will be my Favorite.
    I cant wait for that Movie and i allready preordered the new Doll. I hope i can get also the Sister Doll set and the Set with Triton and Ursula.

    Yes!!!! Season 3 is the best season yet. Frozen is not really about "a princes." Frozen is about sisterhood, family support, there are a lot other phases apply. Also, unlike "Brave" (which is a queen and princess story -- that is mother daughter), Frozen are basically teenagers/20 something characters. And yes, it is so much bigger than the rest.

    I think Princess and Frozen are separate IP's because of the massive value of Frozen as a stand-alone brand. If a toy company were to have the Princess license, they'd still have to pay extra to include Elsa and Ana.

  • @tinmanlover1994
    @tinmanlover1994 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Elsa and Anna are both Queens so that's the difference between them in the princess and frozen split as frozen their own separate brand. Then it's a generation thing as cause frozen came out at a time in 2013 Elsa saved Disney I think at least in my opinion. Cause it wasn't the prince saving the day it was Anna and Elsa the power of sister's and love for your family that saved the day And not the typical Prince charming saves the day prince hans in frozen was the villain so that was different and hadn't been seen until Frozen

  • @jeanettenichols7110

    Disney Princess is a brand. Frozen is an individual movie. Anna and Elsa were originally supposed to be added into the princess brand. however, they were popular enough on their own that they have them separate. so because of them being separate they are also separate licenses. which is why, I’m sure, Mattel is being extra careful to keep them separated. so they don’t lose either license.

  • @raqsabelle

    I'm guessing that the Frozen dolls are kept separate from the Disney Princesses because Disney is still planning on making money with the Frozen franchise, another movie, the Broadway musical, more dolls, etc. The Princesses, maybe, won't be getting any more movies, so the only way to make money from them is via the dolls. I don't really know, though, I just feel that Disney's agenda involves making the most amount of money.
