Been following thses guys since they were just posting covers on TH-cam. RIDICULOUS trio, and one of my all time favorite Stevie tunes. Dirty Loops has delivered another amazing cover. Never get tired of hearing their musical mastery!
Hey Zack, This here is a ton of fun, and so much more! What I love and what absolutely blows my mind, is how Dirty Loops have taken an anthem once more (just like with their ‘cover’ of Thriller) and turned it into a masterclass of funk and jazz and whatnot ;) to me, this is an absolutely, insanely great showcase of their virtuosity, their arranging skills and just their overall prowess as musicians 😱🤯😱 The funk which Henrik brings to this tune, and that swing in his last solo! That last section is pure ear-candy for me as a jazz head 🫶 Also, listen to and read the credits when you have a moment. Whilst a lot of it -their impressive list of CGI 🤣 -are Scandinavian in-jokes, you’ll also be cordially invited to Henrik’s upcoming 40th, complete with Slap Bass Karaoke and German snails, plus a full day of other mindbending festivities 🤣🤣🤣 not to be missed!!! Fun fun fun indeed :) But yeah, this ‘cover’ SLAPS!! 🔥🔥🔥 Thanks for your reaction 🙏☺️
Stevie learned they were at the recent NAMM so was led over to put his hand on Jonah's shoulder and introduce himself! A mutual admiration chat followed!
Sometimes they don't follow the rules? I think Dirty Loops is here to break the "rules" - and it's awesome! 🙂 I love the "call and response" part between Jonah and Henrik. And of cause Arons insane drums which makes me think of the chaos of citylife. A shame you didn't pick up on all the fun in the credits...
I appreciate that you mentioned the subject matter. It's (supposed to be) sort of a protest song of sorts, touching on poverty, racism and the "justice" system when it comes to dealing with the Black community. You'd not know that with this cover (if you've never heard the original) because they look all of that out. They took all the meat out and just left the cheese. The cheese was nice for what it was.
If you read the schedule for Henrik's 40th Birthday in the credits, I think you will smile. Do observe how long time each segment takes. I also like CET + pi. I like this song, smooth and interesting! Will take my untrained ear a long time to grasp, fun!
