The guitarist is Ivan Mendes who became her guitarist when she moved to LA. Alan Papier on his Channel on TH-cam has an interview with him and Egil Clausen, who was her guitarist in Norway. The amazing thing is that these videos with them were very spontaneous, and she would have an idea for a song and the guitarist would learn the chords and then they would record it in one or two takes. Any doubts she's a prodigy?
That fact is one of the many intriguing things about her, as far as I'm concerned

Exactly, to me her ability to sing on the fly, as she feels it in a version that is as good or better than the highly produced original of so many great vocalists, is unmatched. BTW, she is 12 her!!!

Not a relative. That's Yvan Mendez. He has done a handful of songs with Angelina.
Angelina can take one word of a song and create a symphony out of it. I have never heard another one do what she can do with just one word of a song.

Many don't take into account that at the age of 12 yrs old, Angelina had been playing with, experimenting and testing her voice capabilities for 9 years. This also reflects in her ability to arrange her performances to suit her, constantly practicing, improving, experimenting.
This all culminates in her confidence to simply decide to try something out, knowing she'd be able to do it (almost always seemingly with ease)
It's great to see someone who appreciates the beauty of her voice as much as I do. Thank you.
There are few artists regardless of age that can incorporate the variety of vocal tools that Angelina does (and do them in cohesive, integrated way - as opposed to doing them like a list just to do them). It is that musical maturity (different from and in addition to the maturity of her voice) that sets Angelina apart.
Totally hypnotizing singing from Angelina! I have listened to this performance dozens of times but I still get googsebumps.
Of course we all know that Angelina's voice is beyond belief, but has anyone else noticed how elegant her hands are? I really love the way she moves them and gestures with her singing. So expressive and heartfelt.

I have to disagree. I think the best singing of the word "stay" is done by.....Angelina! Just in a different song lol. The way she holds on to "stay" in "my funny valentine" is quite remarkable. And BTW, I enjoyed your reaction to that.

I've got chills many times when I listened AJ singing this song. I feel like unspiritual presence around my body but I can't avoid it cause it came suddenly and distracted me a while from listening.
This spiritual connection happens to many of her fans. They are sometimes overwhelmed by it. I saw one voice coach reactor just quietly break down in tears.

I know I'm very late to this party, but your preference of this over the original is actually the norm for many of her covers. And one factor that makes this even more astounding is that this was done virtually impromptu, with nothing but a single acoustic guitarist, a mike, and Angelina in some room in a house, compared to the original, which was done in a full studio, with full production, full back up singer and band, perfect acoustics, probably multiple takes and extensive editing and all the other accompanying bells and whistles.
AJ Just sang a whole different sound to this song .she has got a sound that my ear loves, Ivan is the person accompanying her and in a interview he said she would just pick a song and ask if he new it. He said he would try to play it a couple of times then she would sing it there and someone would record it all usually in one take .it's a amazing interview .again I enjoyed your reaction thanks

Revisiting this reaction to this song for the manyeth time. Saw you watching Australian football earlier, now fell back to this one. For me this is one of your best reactions to Angelina. Such a good reaction. Few covers escape the comparison that this child generates. In her 8th year, the comparisons began and continue to this day. It is inconceivable to believe that across so many artists and genres she gives us pause to consider a better version has been created. Her music is truly timeless.

Mind blown again.. There are only a few of Angelina's covers that to my ears are not objectively the best versions of that song. She has all the vocal tools but then she puts so much more emotion into her versions that it takes them over the top. There are many great singers in the world with their own unique talents but there is no other vocalist at any age right now that can do what she does.
She is a true storyteller. I usually hear these covers as I have never listen to them before. 🌺

I hear people say a lot that they do not understand how she can have that voice at this age (this age meaning 9, 10,12, 15 …
The thing is that when she was one and a half years old (really .. there's a video) her grandmother, Mery - that Angelina was with a lot - was a jazz lover and Angelina immediately took to jazz (or recognized jazz) in a very vital way - in a passionate way .. and she would make her grandmother play songs she liked over and over and as little as she was all through her twos and threes and fours etc.. she was listening and listening and figuring out how to make her voice sound like their voices. I think the 1st that she learned was Billy Holiday (but I may be wrong about that). She went through all the classic jazz singers she loved and as a little tiny person she was teaching her instrument to adjust this way and that way to make a particular sound .. so imagine that .. her school were her ears and her feelings and she developed her voice from the inside out. Her grandmother is an amazing artist and I am sure a lot of guidance came from her as she watched this little one fascinated with her voice and what it could do and I'm sure guided her all the time and supported her fully.
Angelina wasn't thinking about it as work or voice lessons, I'm sure .. it was probably passion and curiosity and joy cause she loved it so much .. and she spent a huge amount of time doing this, which, to her, was .. life!
So imagine, say, a high school student that wants to take voice lessons because they like it and they seem to be good at it.. everyone tells them their singing is good .. so those kids will start learning stuff at 16 or 18 and they have probably been learning just by singing with the radio and stuff so they have the passion ..
But WE are being blessed by this extraordinary child who spent her entire childhood fascinated by every voice she liked and wanting to figure it out like a puzzle. Organic, brilliant learning. That's the brilliance we see and feel and love.
Prodigy .. of course! but devoted and passionate and working at it with all her being .. and her muse, her grandmother, supporting her totally! So when I hear people say she was born with it .. (and they say it all the time) .. I want to say .. she was born with the passion for it .. she recognized it (jazz) and loved it and knew it to be WHO SHE WAS ..
Phew! .. THAT, to me, is a miracle. A gift to us from God. I am grateful for the miracle of Angelina every single day.
And THIS was my version of Angelina's story, as I imagine it. 🙂 .. and perhaps a piece of the answer to "How in the world can a child this age have this phenomenal unquestionably brilliant and complex voice? "

He is a very talented musician himself with his own YT channel. Do not see many comments about the fact that this young lady sings with her "hands", A Lot. I personally find it amazing how much she feels each song and expresses it with her Hands.
Until her cover of Beetle's Yesterday, Stay had been my number one AJ's performance for years. This cover convinces me she has the best vibrato in the business. what makes it so special is it has that raspy tone. I have never heard anyone else having that.
I have so many now, her Lou Rawls cover had my jaw on the floor, again. So many voices and perfect resonance. "they" can have perfect pitch til the cows come home, I'll take perfect resonance every time:)

Yeah I was gobsmacked when I ran across her in 2015 from NGT. As soon as I was done watching her Billy Holiday rendition (Gloomy Sunday) and my chills subsided I sent the link to all my friends. Most didn't get it then, but I knew this child had a connection to realms we sadly forgot. She is waking people up though, well, those that want to. Her early stuff through this period of 12-13yrs old had very pronounced hand and body movements. Highlighted by her Hawkins cover of I put a Spell on You. I think most people miss what she does in the video but she is definitely channeling aether we, as adults, seem to grow out of. I do think as she's grown she has lost some of that connection, which we all seem to sadly. She has matured vocally no doubt, but let's hope her family ensures she keeps the child inside and uses those arms feet and body to stay attached. But, we are seeing a more reserved Angelina now, which I hope is temporary mid-teens angst. An adult Angelina who still uses her body to channel like the Spell video could literally change the world:)
Because her roots are in jazz, beginning when she was 1-1/2, Angelina is able to evoke
the passion that only a true jazz singer can do. Rhianna is wonderful but not being a jazz
singer is why she's unable to match Angelina. The same can be said about other great
ballad singers, like Adele and Lana Del Rey, who don't have jazz in their souls.
