Agreed. Although i am sure you said to avoid gradients in a video i watched earlier.
I once spent an entire day creating a folder called gradients. What i was unaware of was that i was more or less making the same 20 or so gradients over and over again.
For fonts... Well i have autism and an addictive personality. I have a high propensity to obessively collect anything i like.
I have to create rules to help me avoid spiralling out of control.
I now have a strict (ish) one in, 2 out rule for fonts.
I also forbid myself collecting fonts, "just in case". eg That y font would look amazing with x. Even though i've never used x. I might use x though if z happens. Then i will wish i had y to go with it. Its only a few presses away from being mine. Ah s0d it. I might as well.
I have the space but i resent scrolling past endless fonts i had forgotten i had.
Bro, in the last year I've been a religious subscriber, you've given me the tools to grow into an efficient designer. Thank you for everything you've done for the design world

omg, Tom, you are God-sent. I have tried to use Topaz Labs' AI to upscale a pic and it came out with their logo slapped on it, I had completely lost hope and was so frustrated. Upscaling is super useful. I have designed things and then at the last minute a client has said "oh and btw we need a poster size resolution too..."
This is my first introduction to you. You gave gems with humor. The font addiction got me. I try to stop too. 🤣. I'm picky with my subscriptions, but when you said you were not an affiliate, you blew me away. And I was ok with you being an affiliate. I don't mind it when the content is good and reliable. I'll even make sure to click the links in the description. My favorite gem was the last for inspiration, but they are all fantastic finds. Thank you.

Just checked out the font site. Disappointed there weren’t any handwriting fonts. Always on the lookout for good ones.

The trouble with using free and rare fonts is, come the time you want to use this font again and it is lost or not saved with the source material, redesigning something similar becomes a pit*.
From my experience, working at a large scale printing firm, managing your fonts and being able to convert these fonts to vectors for easy upscaling, are very important skills, which I'm sure you already created a tutorial for.
But what to do if a set font is missing from your collection, or you find a design with a font you'd like to use in you own design? How would we go about this then?

Yes printing gets tricky if the font is not on the printing computer system. To get around this, you should send the artwork as both outlined and not outlined, and if possible also package the fonts files (if you are legally allowed to).
@@SatoriGraphics This is why you should NEVER buy the adobe cloud. Complete waste of money along with you not being able to package any font files. Ill stick to my portable/older versions and work and send things to printing companies flawlessly since this isn't a block on non cloud based adobe.

One huge problem. If you upload a 1920x1080 or a 7650x1440 sized picture it will shrink it to a very small size. It will NOT keep its original size.
Love the new comic animations on your movements mate both wicked and bad. The editor needs a raise or at very least a multi pack of Doritos per video. I will 100% use the gradients in my projects but I don't use computers great for visualization though.

I started in the days of actual physical cut-and-paste, airbrushing and the like, and it was a demanding job. Now, I can whip up concepts, create 2d/3d animation for film and TV, and even code websites in next to no time, without AI, just using the easily accessable design tools that have been with us for two decades now. The money is in the accumulated knowledge that 35 years across multiple disciplines brings to all aspects of design.
I would submit to you that given the digital nature of everything now, and given the ease of use that gives us, the majority of high-earning multimendia design houses massively overcharge for their work.
I would further submit that these same houses exploit young, eager, talented designers at every turn, which takes power away from those young talented people, while contibuting considerably to their master's obscene earnings.
This AI revolution is coming for everyone, from 100% robot McDonalds (now open!) to construction, design, truck drivers, law firms, everything. We all have to adapt. Even then, my job will eventually be toast, which is why I'm shifting my focus fully to AI.
This new paradigm is being foisted upon us not for our own good, but for the good of the oligarchies that control global policy.
On the upside, as I say, everyone will be able to produce their own websites, books and all other forms of media. They will not have to pay someone else to do it.
There are simply too many people coming out of design school expecting to do well, most of whom will be sorely dissapointed when they realise they are at best mediocre in the face of this emerging tech. They were told upon entering design school that they would be well paid, but they are not. They have been hoddwinked by an industry that does not care about them one bit. They will be eaten alive.
The young creatives today might be better served finding other means to turn their creativity into income.
Am I happy that people will lose their jobs? Of course not. But it will happen. It IS happening.
My anger is not directed at AI technology. It is directed at power structures that are already setting policy on the use of that technology which disenfranchise the hardest working and lowest paid amongst us.
