    The apex is a great!! Engine for experimental aircraft. I plan to put one in my Zenith 750

    There are so many stories in the experimental aircraft world that begin with "Well, I just intended to build one for myself. Then I took it to a fly-in and everyone started asking me for the plans." Bernie Pietenpol (Pietenpol Air Camper), Richard VanGrunsen (Vans Aircraft), Ken Rand (KR-2), Chris Heintz (Zenith Aircraft), and John Monett (Sonex) just to name a few.

    It's high time that someone helps brings small GA aircraft engines options into the 21st century, and challenges the ridiculous pricing and TBOH of the likes of Lycoming and Continental .

    Wouldn't the yamaha jet ski motors work too?

      We inquired about that since there are SO MANY here in FL. But.. it ironically is a different purpose built engine and is much heavier.

    Rotex did not do the aviation industry any favors as far as cost is concern. As soon as I see Rotax on a plane, I know the plane will cost much more than $100,000 USD. They have lots of overhead and share holders that have to pay off. Edge Performance, taking an already expensive engine, add their R and D cost and parts to the Rotex, and you better be a multi millionaire to be able to afford it. Even governments have not made use of the Edge enhancements for their drones. One of the key reason for Edge existence is the snail's pace Rotax move in advancing rated Power output for their engines. After 2+ decades , it is only at 160 HP.

    Why do I always get a history lesson when I'm looking for engine info?

    • @ExperimentalAircraftChannel
      @ExperimentalAircraftChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because Aviation is a "Community" of "People" and we like tying to Engineering to the Engineer.
      Welcome to the Community. Awesome people here! ;-)
      Thanks for sitting through one of our videos. We very much appreciate your time.

      @@ExperimentalAircraftChannel Yeah, I get that. But dealing out the things the title mentions are a good way to get someone to watch the rest, when the engineering details and history stories can be interesting. Hearing the hangar talk BEFORE I get anything like power and weight and fuel, or cost is a real strain on the attention span. Why would I keep watching? (I did because I heard "Edge Performance" in the mix.)
