Newman and Baddiel in their heyday were fantastic. I saw Rob Newman performing in a London pub basement about 15 years ago or something, and he was amazing.
I saw Rob in the 90s at my first comedy gig, it was for charity, and i couldnt believe my luck seeing him live. I can still rem how sore my stomach was from laughing so much.
I have seen many comedians my uncle was a comedian God is and so does he exist ask Dave Allen but the thing about is the best comedians demand your attention whenever you go to the comedy store there will be 6 or 7 acts to cover all the bases but some comedians just leave that hook on you its hard to define... But its a thing...
I've always maintained that David Baddiel, much like Ben Elton, is a very talented comedy writer, as opposed to a performer. Newman and Skinner have always brought that to his partnerships.
Rob Newman was always the star. Baddiel had the occasional moment (History Today) but the majority of his stuff is very cringe. Saw Rob on his own a few times, including the brilliant History of Oil, and he was just as funny, clever, and engaging as ever. There's no wonder DB hates him and never got over his jealousy.
Newman and Baddiel and Mary Whitehouse ran parallel to the indie student vibe of the time. Newman was funny but David brought those indie vibes to the table big time - he definitely held his own and i loved it when they did sketches together.
I went to see Rob in the 90’s in his “men at work” show. He was dressed in a hi viz jacket and a hat, and I have to say, he almost played to silence. I wanted to love it, I wanted more of his characters from tv but it was just him rambling. I was more sad for him than disappointed.
I highly, highly, doubt that will ever happen, right at the end in late 1993,, they absolutely hated the sight of each other, plus, I think it’s a case that too many years have passed, they’ve both moved on to do other things… It’s not quite the same as members of a rock band reforming after several decades, that does sometimes happen, as it can mean more money with royalties from album sales…but with comedy acts, it doesn’t quite work like that, it’s very rare that they get back together after finishing it decades earlier, especially if they ended up hating each other…

Newman is brilliantly funny and highly intellectual.
Not like all the other narcissist actors who know who they aren't?
ROB Newman 'a history of oil' is a great show. It's on youtube. Very funny and Informative
Newman and Baddiel Rest in Pieces is arguably amongst the best comedy ever.
Agreed. It still feels fresh today.
Rob Newman completely carried Baddiel tbh

Great in cool hand Luke
Baddiel's webcam belongs to his daughter.
Yeah Dolly BB cause she has both parents' surnames.
Rob was a genius. Baddiel is a slightly funny typically insular member of the tribe with a persecution complex
You should read his book Jews Don't Count. Just one big kvetch.
He is 68.

Baddiel is a reasonably funny guy but he was always completely carried by Newman and Skinner.
Completely carried is harsh but I see where you're coming from.
I think he's funny and likable.
He was more of a straight man yes I'll conceed but he's still top drawer in his own way
Shame he split with Newman, I suppose David is best on his own
Yeah, like completely on his own... As in shoved out the farthest airlock in space, or dropped into the mariana trench.

The chortle UK logo has restricted seriousness...

He's had a radio4 program more recently which some was funny
Sure Issac
It would be cool if Newman and baddiel met up and did more material together.
Put their differences aside and do it for the fans

See that Richi sunak... that's you, that is.😅
I'm trying to find a clip of Baddiel being funny. All I can find are smug, unfunny and occasionally racist sketches.
You totally lose points for those comments.
@@seanp8220 boo hoo 😂
@@bluelanterns2982 sound like sarcastic Ray
What a personal disaster
Well you can start with the History Today sketches which are legendary.
and?
