this was AMAZING! when did you begin to start prepping for your med school interviews? i'm in year 12 this year, and I'm wondering how you juggled your time between school, UCAT preparation and interview practice :)

Ooh that's so exciting for you, med school is right around the corner! I started with UCAT prep in January of Yr 12, so had about 7 months of prepping ~3hrs a week + a full-length practice test every fortnight. I poured the rest of my time/energy into the HSC, and then only started prepping for interviews after I had received my offers, so around a month before. For the 2 weeks prior, I spent probably 1-2hrs a day working on interviews - luckily they happen in late November/December, so the HSC is done and dusted!
I definitely wouldn't stress too much about specific interview prep this early, if you have the opportunity, try and work on your confidence/general communication skills by chatting with customers at a part-time job, or even just paying attention to good + not so good communication in whichever Netflix series you're watching at the moment (I'm hooked on Chicago Med atm and it has some great examples of both).
For now though, just focus most of your effort on doing your personal best in Year 12 and definitely start looking into UCAT prep, if you haven't already (I went through MedEntry and they were great - use the code LAURAB_22 for 10% off!).
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions, I have a new interview vid coming out today too, so definitely check that one out too! :)) xx

@@LauraBeaumont Hi Laura :) With the HSC and interviews coming up, I came back to this video and I thought of a question to ask you!
Do you have any tips on how to prepare for the HSC in the last couple of weeks before the exams start? I have 18 days to go until English Advanced Paper I, and I have been doing past papers and trying to review old ones I've done, but I would love to know if you have any other suggestions on how to study "smarter" and maximise efficiency. With my UCAT being enough for an interview (98th%!), I feel pressure to get a good ATAR to maximise my shot at getting into med (UNSW or WSU hopefully!). Thanks

Thanks Laura for this very informative video. My son is aspiring to enter medical school. It hasn’t been easy 🥲. Hoping he will realise his dream in very near future.
