The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia - FIFA - will be the 21st edition of the Football World Cup.
This edition of the event will be held in Russia between June 14 and July 15, 2018, being the first opportunity in that country to organize the championship and the first time in history to be held in an Eastern European country.
Russia confirmed 12 stadiums in 11 cities: Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Kazan, Krasnodar, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, St. Petersburg, Samara, Sochi, Volgograd and Saransk, which will host all 64 World Cup matches. Sochi is a city of Russia located in the Krasnodar Krai. It is situated between the snowy mountains of the Caucasus and the Black Sea, with a population of around 368 011 inhabitants.
Its mild subtropical climate, high mountains with abundant vegetation, blue and warm sea, mineral and healing springs, and access available throughout the year, make it the most important holiday resort in the Russian Federation.
Sochi had already been established as an elegant resting area by Joseph Stalin, who had his favorite dacha built in the city: Stalin's studio. This site, which has a wax statue of the leader, is now open to the public.
Sochi also has an annual recurring ski season, from October to May. The region has many natural wonders such as the Ajun mountain, in the national park, from whose summit you can glimpse the sea, the city and a panorama of the Caucasus mountain range.
The Sochi arboretum is the largest in Russia and its popularity is international.
The XXII Winter Olympic Games were held between February 7 and 23, 2014 in the city of Sochi; likewise, these facilities served as the headquarters for the World Festival of Youth and Students from October 14 to 22 of the current year
