Instead of a popcorn maker take a brown paper bag. 1/4 cup popcorn fold end of bag and then pop in the microwave. I think its 2 minutes or 3. Listen to the popping just like the microwave bag. No oil needed.

    • @lisatimmons7229

I use to make popcorn this way, it works. However, since this is a healthy video I’d warn you not to. The Popcorn Board supports the USDA stance: don’t pop popcorn in a brown bag. You don't know what (the bags) are made of, what can cook out of them and many are made from recycling which is hazardous.

There are a couple of things at DT I like that are healthy you didn't mention. One is True Lemon. It comes in powdered form and is basically dried lemon. It has no sugar or anything else added. It is wonderful in water or tea. DT has it pretty often. It's in the drinks section with the other drink mixes like Koolaid. The second thing is Himalayan salt. DT often has large bags. They're pink. I can't remember the size but it's 12-16 oz I believe. That's an incredible deal if you can find it.
A lot of people here on TH-cam say the DT frozen French fries are good. The only ingredient is potatoes. I totally agree that those veggie spring rolls are amazing, especially for a buck!
If you buy fish there I've heard there can be bones so watch out for those if you try it. I'm not brave enough to try the meat!
Thanks for sharing this, Jamie! I will definitely pick up a bag of brown rice next time I hit DT!

For my DT breakfasts sometimes I add a little box of their raisins to the brown rice and I often buy eggs there because at 8/$1 the price seems ok to me. Maybe they’d be cheaper somewhere else but I prefer to avoid trips to a lot of stores because of a tendency to start putting a lot of stuff in my cart. 🙇🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ Yes, I really enjoy you pointing out healthier foods and I’ve started reading the labels a little more lately...lookin’ at the sugar and salt. It seems ridiculous but I never paid too much attention to those things, I only looked at the calories and protein before.

I think one thing that’s not mentioned is that Dollar Tree actually sells seeds to plant your own fruits and vegetables, so if you are looking for something more healthy you can actually grow some of your own fruits and vegetables over time and have fresh fruits and vegetables in your backyard (if you have the space for it). They sell them 4 for $1, but they do sell out really fast because of this. They also sell some plant starter packs that all you have to do is add water, and they will grow vegetables, like tomatoes, but I think the starter packs are like $1.25.

I pay approximately $13.00 for 30 lbs. Also watch sales for pasta and stock up when they are cheaper. I do like the Dollar tree for certain spices and coconut oil. But, not just for shopping. I think some of their things are not as good of a quality as a grocery store. 🤔food for thought.
