I think that the rationale for the calculation presented in the video is that for the B event to happen you calculate the probability that neither B1, B2 or B3 happen, which is (1- PB1)*(1-PB2)*(1-PB3) and then, the probability that B indeed happens is 1 minus the above. Nevertheless, I would appreciate the author’s input.
Just came across this but your 100% correct. For there to be "ignition" either of the potential sources could trigger it. Doing this strange use the inverse and make the gate an "AND" i.e. no spark AND no smoking AND no short and then inverting it actually confuses the presentation. If the OP had stuck with the OR gate as written then the pIgnition= 0.02 + 0.06 + 0.03 = 0.11 doing it his way doesn't seem to make much sense.
Sir, is the method match to analyze the risk of production process of food industry
how u calculate the probability of the basic event?
For OR calculation, shouldn't we add the probablity of event P(B) = P(B1) + P(B2) + P(B3)?

Is there any way to calculate probability of the basic event?
i think you get that from empirical data
Excellent! Thank you for explaining it in such a simple manner!
You're very welcome!
hey can you make a video on how to convert a fault tree to a success tree. It will be very helpful.
what is the next step with the result of FTA? what is the immediate action need to be taken with the results? how it benefits the design?
Thank you 😊
thanks for the explanation!
Glad it was helpful!
