Thank you for addressing footcare. I always carry a pair of $3 flip flops to have at least an alternative for the shoes I wear. 30/40 miles a day is what I walk, around 50 km. Such a relief to wear different socks or footwear.
If you wear adequate footwear with merino socks every day, then you have a good head start on this entire issue! Ladies often cannot wear adequate footwear due to their clothing styles, so having a set of boots for her in the vehicle is key. All my Boo-Boo kits have moleskin. If you know you are in for a long Shank's Mare event, then just put down a layer of 100 MPH tape over your heels and ball of the foot before you take off.
Couple things for feet care… 1. If you take a break longer than 10 minutes it is super beneficial to take off your boots and socks and let them breath, dry and cool down. 2. I can’t speak for those lowa boots you have there but every other military boot whether it be Rockies or Belleville or danners, they all suck at being waterproof. Do yourselves a favor and buy the lowa Tibet, kenetreks, zamberlands or other similar boot and condition them with obenaufs. 3. You can also buy prewaxed boot laces which are nice at not soaking up water and are much more durable than the stock shoe laces. And if you double knot bunnie knot your laces you can pull the ends of the laces and both the knots will come undone. ***side note, check out the deluth firehouse pants. They are fantastic quality, they have the cargo pockets. Pen sleeve and hold your cell phone perfectly and have the durability as carhartts. I would describe them as a tougher better 5.11 pant IMO
Foot care is slept on. I remember having this one rough winter job where i was wearing cotton socks and tore up work boots and my feet got pretty messed up from pretty much a full day of wet cold without changing socks. Never Again!
Yeah show us whats in that kit, mite not need it but its still a great idea. I was taught in the Midwest for deer hunting, to spray your feet with a dry antiperspirant, no smell, an dry feet, an your feet won't get cold cause there's no moisture, works for me anyway. Thx for the vid Bro
Excellent video. Thank you for making it. If I can help add about your boot choice. I had hard on my feet jobs for years. I wore Dr martens and needed to replace them yearly. This was in an Urban situation, YOU are talking about 3 years in your outdoor environment ???? That is amazing even if you were off by a year. Again, love your videos. Can't thank you enough.
Living in CO and wanting to get into mountain camping/overlanding, as well as increased general preparedness, has had me going down various rabbit holes on the best way to set myself up for success. Your videos have been a great supplement to the many others I have watched while tweaking my gear and to buy/to do lists. Thanks for the great content.
Lowa are excellent boots, I run the brown (UK army colour) and they have proven to be comfortable and hard wearing. I would add if you are running a heavier pack you will nee dgood boots for your feet, Lowa really support your ankles and ensure you don't get the aches/pains with shins/lower legs that other shoes may result in. Good choice for your bag/get home kit
I don't think you can go wrong with Salomon shoes. Have you tried Garmont boots? I will mention again Fox River socks. I am looking forward to what you think about those, also. They have served me well. Would like your opinion on them if you have one. This is an important video, and a subject that I think gets overlooked. Thanks for the input. Looking forward to this series.
@@Tragic387 it's true it is all relative, and I do like darn tough. In my opinion they just do not last me as long. If I have my choice, I'm going with smart wool, but they get pricey real quick.
Great info. I remember storming out of the house years ago to let off some steam. Walked a good distance, pounding my feet at a fast pace, no socks, cheap penny loafers. Big mistake, getting back home was real painful. I just put Goldbond on my list.
Another awesome video thanks for sharing. Question do you put foot power inside your socks and boots before put them on or do you just dust your feet? Thank you for your videos and great info and yes would like to see what’s in your car/truck gear bag
@@PreparedAirman thank you so much for the info I’m old and never served so any information and videos are highly appreciate it. Thank you for your service 👍🏻🇺🇸 god bless
2 different sizes of GlacierGel blister/burn dressings, pre-cut and shaped moleskin adhesives for protection, alcohol pads for skin preparation, and antiseptic towelettes for wound cleaning round out the package. Each kit measures approximately 4.25 x 6.5 x 0.5 inches
I used them over seas in extremely hot climates and they didn't give me any trouble. I liked the (GTX) goretex for when you hiking through grass soked in dew in the morning they absolutely Excell in that situation. They are a bit harder to get dry after they are soaked though.
Are those lowa zephyrs? Have you had any problems with the soles cracking while going over rocky terrain? I've heard some people say rocky trails will completely chew up the treads very quickly. I live in Appalachia would like a high boot that is light and flexible but with a durable sole, seems a hard combo to find
So I found something out the hard way. I always had cold feet in the winter months. I never knew why. I would wear cold weather boots and the warmest wool socks money could buy. I still had cold feet. Until I had to stand outside the gate at work checking IDs at 6am in 0° temps. Freezing cold pavement and ice. I found that when I wore my summer combat boots my feet were warmer. I thought critically about it. I realized that my feet sweat profusely in all weather conditions. Even if it’s cold. I personally be cold but my feet will still be sweaty. I tried adding an ungodly amount of gold bond to my socks each day to keep the moisture down. Ended up with a white paste between my toes and cold feet. Because the moisture was trapped between my toes and kept them cold. So I quit using powders and simply wear hot weather boots all year round. I haven’t gotten into the habit of changing my socks regularly but I will. I like the army standard issue green boot sock with silver in it. It keeps the microbe growth down. I seem to have good luck. So if you have to rotate your socks out. It may help have silver coated threaded socks. They aren’t all that expensive surprisingly. They aren’t going to be perfect and will need to be washed eventually but definitely will help keep the microbes and odor down for awhile.
Meh... The few speaking mistakes aren't a big deal. What bothers me are the um's and uh's I hear a lot on other channels, not so much on this one. Also, he does the whole video in one take. Keep up the great work and don't let your critics get you down.
Regardless...hes takin his time to try to help people...bagging on him for word choice is petty. I appreciate what he does as do many others. You probably do also. You are watching afterall

I have watched half dozen or more videos. I appreciate your level headed approach to things.
A small container of petroleum jelly is great for hotspots and can prevent blisters from forming
There is a new drinking game! Every time that PA says "aspect", you take a drink... it will be a short game:)

"why do you like the lowa boots??? They don't even come in a wide fit"
See them lil 3 arches on the sides? Thems go fasters. 👌🏼
I don't have wide feet.

WHY NOT PUT NEW SOLES AND HEELS ON YOUR OLD BOOTS ?
I did already and wore through them. It was time for them to retire lol
Great info; thanks for the item suggestion link.
Love the vidoes. Keep up the good work.
I have a small gold bond in all my packs too and those I put together for others. Just so you know KT tape works good for blisters as well.
Love the video! I would love to see more like this
Great Channel. Thanks
Do you have much experience with other boots? The Lowas are supposed to be great, but I like American brands if I can.
I used Tactical reasearch TR550s by Belleville for a about 4 years and they were very good boots aswell.

I switched from fox river to darn tough. Fox was too thick to be useable, darn tough was just right. But it’s all personal
