Just got off of Carnival panorama on Monday. We had booked Fahrenheit 555. My boyfriend was seasick so we did not wind up going. We didn’t even think of asking for a refund.
Second day of cruise we were going to do the “Amazing Race”, I was violently ill, like it’s 12 steps to bathroom, can I make it 6? I told my wife to call down, don’t expect us for excursion so others didn’t have to wait. Never expected a refund. I was doing my own amazing race in the stateroom.
Too many people feel entitled now days. If you missed your reservation without calling, shame on you. Your fault, not the cruise line. The other guests at dinner were probably delayed as they were waiting for them to arrive. Unreal!
It's actually $146/person and very clearly states that you must notify 48hrs in advance for cancellations to receive money back which just always prove what I say people don't bother to read and then are the first to complain. Thanks Don
These are probably the same people who book a table at a restaurant, and don't bother turning up, causing the restaurant to lose money, unless they have a non refundable deposit.
Chef's Table is a really nice experience. We have gone a couple of times, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Since there's limited availability, we feel lucky to be able to get a reservation for it. We would never miss it without calling the restaurant and explaining why.
You're right, Don. At least they could have called beforehand and allowed the crew to find others to take their seats or find substitutes, even random strangers who would love the chance.
We did the "Chef's Table" on the Carnival Splendor. It was a very interesting meal. We booked it months before the cruise and would never even think about demanding a refund. We made sure that the Chefs Table was on a sea day.
@@ceciliapetrowsky2572 I just checked on Carnivals site and the Chefs Table is available to $146.32 /person on the Celebration in July 2024. you still can book ahead if it is available.
They should have been fined for being rude to the chef by not turning up (and for denying other guests the chance). Alternatively, get them into the galley and make them wash up.
They took someone else's experience away by being inconsiderate and not calling and canceling ahead of time ! A NO REFUND is 100% correct thing to do !
Gotta make one comment don...if you have a good travel agent. You can book the chefs table well in advance. We booked our sailing on the sun princess a year in advance and booked chefs table that same day. 👍
I’ve skipped an excursion twice. Once because I was sick and the other. Was because I got a better offer. It was last minute and I didn’t even bother to ask for a refund. It was too late for them to even replace me from a wait list even if I paid it. So I just sucked it up and went on with my life.
On Enchanted last month I did both the 360 Experience and Chef's Table and it was a great experience! I wouldn't do it again but as a unique experience it was great
the best thing about social media is that anyone that posts is inviting ALL opinions in response. I doubt that anymore than 10% of people would think the cruise line was in the wrong. People need to read the fine print and abide by the rules not their self-entitlement.
They are too entitled. I have done 3 cruises where the chef table was full and I was on the waiting list. If they would have canceled early that day I bet there was someone who would have taken some of the seats.
When I was 8n retail and an employee did a “No call, no show” it ended up as a “no call, no show, no job”. If you can’t be an adult, don’t ask others to treat you like an adult.
Carnival treated them perfectly. They booked their slots, and if they decided not to show up, that's their problem. I have a few issues with cruises lines here and there, but I'll only give the facts and let people decide for themselves. For example, I'm not happy with Royal Caribbean (a line I'm Diamond Plus on) because they don't allow solo passengers to buy some speciality dining. These people may have stated the facts, but the facts are against them.
100% the cruise line is right this time. You should not get a refund inside of 24 hours, JMO. It doesn’t matter if it is a dinner or shore excursion etc
Ahh this is Mr and Mrs Sun. I've heard of these 2 before. Apparently the world revolves around them, you may not have been aware of this Don so its only fitting that I put you in the loop.
It costs the crew and the ship time and money to prepare these very special meals for the chefs table. It’s not easy or cheap. Best case would be if the tired cruisers had good friends on board willing to go and they called dining services in advance and gifted their friends their reservations for dinner. I bet that could be worked out and then there would be no wasted food or time and effort. Win + win for friends and the chef table team. But no they just wasted everyone’s time and then complained on social media like whiney little punks. Ugh.
I do NOT think they deserved a refund at all. I’ve done the Chef’s Table on Carnival, it was a fun experience! They really do go all out to give you individualized service within the small group experience…all the way down to the personalized and customized menus. It was rude and of bad manners not to inform someone that they decided not to attend.
Chef's table is a wonderful experience and we make sure we make enough time and schedule our day around it. Sure, go ahead and go to social media with your rant, but make sure you tell the whole story, then wait to be destroyed.
They thought the cruise personnel were being rude? (yes, I do think that their definition of rude here is that they were told no) How long did the staff wait before calling to check on them, probably a couple minutes at least maybe even 15 or so. That means that everyone else with a reservation who showed up on time were forced to wait for no reason. That is the epitome if rudeness.
So sad...if I was on that ship I would ask if they would consider a waiting list if I wanted badly to go and it had been no go for me trying trip after trip,.... really have wanted to do one of these dinners since they began and I began reading and watching about them..... I would/will when I first get on ships again remember to.take the Rolaids, lol.... and when making first day plans... ask if something like this happens would they consider a last minute wait list.....I'll pay for 90 percent if missed the galley tour, 100% if I can make that......give me a call and I will be presentable on the three nights you have them and just move on to another dinner venue if I do not hear from you...seriously sad and yes,,,that food has been purchased and prepared....this way that money can be saved up in a kitty..the double paids.... to maybe once a month give to two people...maybe alternate between couples and singles...someone the crew notices is extremely nice and maybe having a nice but pretty budget week in regatds to the extras and in insides...it just makes me sick...the entitlement. Just got over watching a TH-cam on people stuck livng in what they call cage and coffin quarters in Hong Kong...devastating....just incredible...this situation is truly so very sad.
i'm curious how much of the social media sided with them....i'm a bit disappointed with society at large so i wouldn't be surprised if they mostly sided with the no-shows
They basically stood up the Chef's Table event and staff because they decided at the last minute they just simply didn't feel like it anymore. That's okay, the cruise line simply didn't feel like refunding their money, either -- now they know what it feels like.
They do not deserve a refund. They didn't have the courtesy to call and cancel. They apparently didn't read the cancelation policy. I understand about getting too tired to do planned activities. A few years ago, I was on a Carnival Journeys cruise. I planned to go to the Midnight Buffet. I was tired and took a nap. When my alarm rang, I was still really tired, so I decided not to go. This event didn"t have reservations, so it wasn't a problem. No one else was denied the opportunity.
What kind of people book something and not show up. When you're on vacation you book things to enjoy them and look forward to the event . If they have a time management problem it isn't the cruise lines responsibility to refund them. Either don't have it booked or show up.
What do you mean the world doesn't revolve around me and my timing? It's your fault I'm too tired so refund my money, I'm entitled. NOT! some people's kids.
If you hold a place, you deny others the ability. If you came back tired, how does that affect a relaxing exclusive event? Did the reservation include the ability to cancel and get a refund? If you buy expensive tickets to any event, you can usually "give" them to someone else but you cannot expect to receive a refund. Unfair? Entitlement is not included in the cost of a reservation.
I was amazed on a recent cruise. On the morning of an excursion, my wife wasn't feeling well, so instead of her just not showing, I went to excursion desk to at least let them know my wife wouldn't be going. To my astonishment, they gave us a refund. Not saying that they should have been refunded. The policy is 24 or 48 hours. Just saying we were lucky
The cruise ship need to have in there no refunds under any circumstances because you got people waiting to the a part of this event or tell the cruise line just like they say if you give us a certain amount one or two days ahead of time where we can put people in your place we will refund your money but other than that because it's so exclusive they can't do that so you just lose out😮
Hi Don I don’t think there is any reason why I would ever go to a diner that lasted 3 hours nobody needs that rich food anyway,it looked pretty ugly from the picture you were showing, why would I sit there for 3 hours and be served little pieces of meat or fish, and looked surprised ah no and pay that price.they should have given notice but I’m sure those little scraps of food could make a whole plate of something.
Very inconsiderate of them to cancel when the event was already going on Perhaps if they had given enough notice to allow a replacement couple they could refund them. But no way on such short notice. Rude actually
They should be embarrassed putting this on social media!
The sense of entitlement of some people is amazing.
Started in 2016

Too bad! Show some responsibility!
It's actually $146/person and very clearly states that you must notify 48hrs in advance for cancellations to receive money back which just always prove what I say people don't bother to read and then are the first to complain. Thanks Don

I can’t imagine being “too tired” to make it to my chef’s table reservation.
Good explanation of the Chef’s table!
That's not right, a lot of cruisers get turned away as it'fills up quickly. Even Doctors charge for missed appts
You're right, Don. At least they could have called beforehand and allowed the crew to find others to take their seats or find substitutes, even random strangers who would love the chance.
Plus I’m sure there were 3 people who wanted to do the chefs table at that time but were denied because it was full !
I've never even heard of Chef's Table, but now I want to do one!
We did the "Chef's Table" on the Carnival Splendor. It was a very interesting meal. We booked it months before the cruise and would never even think about demanding a refund. We made sure that the Chefs Table was on a sea day.
Don said you can’t book it until you’re on the ship. I guess your ship had different rules.
@@ceciliapetrowsky2572 I just checked on Carnivals site and the Chefs Table is available to $146.32 /person on the Celebration in July 2024. you still can book ahead if it is available.

Thank you, Don Yes, the thinking of these passengers is Amazing, but that's the world we live in today.
I was waiting on the "April fools" but nope, people are this out of touch. Smh
Thanks Don 🙏
The cruise line is right by not giving them a penny for canceling last second.
Oh my goodness, Pete… How entitled do they think they are that they can just cancel or do whatever they want and expect a refund. Ridiculous.
Yes on Royal Caribbean. Have an amazing meal with wine pairing each dish. Love the experience.
Chef’s table was amazing. I loved trying the new foods, the galley tour was amazing. Will definitely do it again
Gotta make one comment don...if you have a good travel agent. You can book the chefs table well in advance. We booked our sailing on the sun princess a year in advance and booked chefs table that same day. 👍
No excuse for canceling this. Power through it
Keep up the good work!
I hope the social media respondents understand why the "demand" is ridiculous. But like everyone else here, the entitlement is outrageous
Good grief, these entitled people are tiring.
Nope…. no refund, stop crying about your actions! Your an adult, to tired…. then cancel! Dang grow up!
I’ve skipped an excursion twice. Once because I was sick and the other. Was because I got a better offer. It was last minute and I didn’t even bother to ask for a refund. It was too late for them to even replace me from a wait list even if I paid it. So I just sucked it up and went on with my life.
I do wonder how they would feel if they went to the Chef's Table and they were told the Chef is too tired to prepare your meal?
Your right
Nope. Maybe someday. Thanks Don
What is that expression Livia Soprano used to say on the television series "The Sopranos?" I recall now: OH...POOR YOUUUUUU!"
Some people just don't understand basic rules and common courtesy now.
On Enchanted last month I did both the 360 Experience and Chef's Table and it was a great experience! I wouldn't do it again but as a unique experience it was great
Those people are crazy
the best thing about social media is that anyone that posts is inviting ALL opinions in response. I doubt that anymore than 10% of people would think the cruise line was in the wrong. People need to read the fine print and abide by the rules not their self-entitlement.
Ridiculous! Thanks for the belly laugh 🤣😆🤣
Hi Don, The food was already ready. Not Carnival fault.
Shame has been lost. A person who felt guilt, shame, or even remorse would either accept their fate or at least make up an excuse.
I have never done a chef’s table but would like to. 😊
They are too entitled. I have done 3 cruises where the chef table was full and I was on the waiting list. If they would have canceled early that day I bet there was someone who would have taken some of the seats.
When you make a reservation, you should keep it. That's what they are ment for. It's rude not to go. They do not deserve a refund at all.
I once got talked out of a chef table. 🤷🏻♀️
When I was 8n retail and an employee did a “No call, no show” it ended up as a “no call, no show, no job”. If you can’t be an adult, don’t ask others to treat you like an adult.

It’s probably a good thing they didn’t show up. Sounds like they are people who would make other lives miserable.
No refund!!!! Some people think they are so entitled. Suck it up lady!!!!!!
The three self-centered people need to be brought to the shocking realization that the world doesn't revolve around them.
100% the cruise line is right this time. You should not get a refund inside of 24 hours, JMO. It doesn’t matter if it is a dinner or shore excursion etc
These people didn’t even call or try and cancel when they knew they weren’t going to the Chef”s Table to start with…..entitlement 🙄
Like your friend Tony says all the time, just ban them entitled ignorant nobody.
Unbelievable!
What- they don’t know the rules?? Why do people now feel entitled that rules are not made for them! Too bad!!
Ahh this is Mr and Mrs Sun.
I've heard of these 2 before. Apparently the world revolves around them, you may not have been aware of this Don so its only fitting that I put you in the loop.
Chef's table does not sound near as interesting as Captain's table
Reminds me of Jerry Seinfeld trying to return a blazer jacket for spite. 😅
It costs the crew and the ship time and money to prepare these very special meals for the chefs table. It’s not easy or cheap. That's nerve.
Doesn't deserve a refund and it is rude.
All tied to the attitudes of today. Some people feel entitled and they should be able to do what they want.
Chef's table is a wonderful experience and we make sure we make enough time and schedule our day around it. Sure, go ahead and go to social media with your rant, but make sure you tell the whole story, then wait to be destroyed.

TRUTH!!!!
Hopefully they will be so mad they won’t cruise anymore saving the rest of us from their rudeness!
In today's woke world, there are probably many that would feel this is a valid excuse.
So sad...if I was on that ship I would ask if they would consider a waiting list if I wanted badly to go and it had been no go for me trying trip after trip,.... really have wanted to do one of these dinners since they began and I began reading and watching about them..... Dr office charges you if you don't cancel before 24 hours of your appointment time. Should we take to social media and complain about it?
i'm curious how much of the social media sided with them....i'm a bit disappointed with society at large so i wouldn't be surprised if they mostly sided with the no-shows
What if the crew never even called them? Would they still feel they needed to pay, or get a refund? Should just have let them go and not say anything.
Carnival is a ghetto loss class cruise line . 7:45
They don't deserve a refund.
They just need to get their big people panties on and stop throwing excuses out. It’s so sad.
I’d like to be a fly on that social media wall and see them get their comeuppance.
They basically stood up the Chef's Table event and staff because they decided at the last minute they just simply didn't feel like it anymore. That's okay, the cruise line simply didn't feel like refunding their money, either -- now they know what it feels like.
always wanted to do but the cost throws me off, maybe one day but these folks are out of line thinking a refund like that
but we didn't show up because we assumed we'd get a refund! it's not fair! 🙂
Personally I am not interested in Chefs table, but I would cancel or at least not worry about my refund. Be respecful.
Entitlement is a real thing. SMH!!!!
What is the number for on the white panel in the bottom left of the screen behind Don?!?
Wow
No refund. To bad so sad!
She should have known better than to book a Carnival cruise .
What kind of people book something and not show up. When you're on vacation you book things to enjoy them and look forward to the event . If they have a time management problem it isn't the cruise lines responsibility to refund them. Either don't have it booked or show up.
How far below stupid can you go. The refund people set a new standard.
What do you mean the world doesn't revolve around me and my timing? It's your fault I'm too tired so refund my money, I'm entitled. NOT! some people's kids.

They shouldn’t be refunded. They screwed up. That’s where people think they are entitled
No show - No refund. Simple.
Probably had a waitlist, cruise line could have made double money.
You just can't please some people no matter the situation. That is the new world everyone is entitled.
We're all tired after shore excursions, sitting at the pool, activities etc Take a nap before dinner and act like an adult.
She should just take all gratuity off her account.
The cruise ship need to have in there no refunds under any circumstances because you got people waiting to the a part of this event or tell the cruise line just like they say if you give us a certain amount one or two days ahead of time where we can put people in your place we will refund your money but other than that because it's so exclusive they can't do that so you just lose out😮
Absolutely not getting a refund
Don could it also be your status with Princess that facilitated your refund
They did not cancel they just did not show up their fault
Hi Don I don’t think there is any reason why I would ever go to a diner that lasted 3 hours nobody needs that rich food anyway,it looked pretty ugly from the picture you were showing, why would I sit there for 3 hours and be served little pieces of meat or fish, and looked surprised ah no and pay that price.they should have given notice but I’m sure those little scraps of food could make a whole plate of something.
