    After an extensive search to solve the starting issue w/ a '91 Suzuki 250 King Quad, your frame at 1:45 hit the mark: exactly the symptom that this bike is experiencing. After witnessing the intricate & arduous maneuvers you endured to complete this rebuild, I quickly realized that this operation is WAY beyond my skillsets & to the scrapyard this bugger goes! You saved me a TON of grief & moola. Thank you!

    Hello, your vids r always very clear and str8 to the point and this one is no exception. As a fellow tech in the industry I'd like to share an opinion with you. i notice you edited out some of the more challenging aspect of this repair. Well the way i see it, don't you think it would make a more informative video if you just partially edit those parts, it would give your viewers a heads up on the inevitable problems he or she may encounter. Hell we as techs know what we're doing and it bite us in the ass sometimes. And guess what? you would be the only one on youtube thats shooting them str8. They'll love you for it. Ain't nothing like a little honest drama in this business.

  • @jonhunt5408
    @jonhunt5408 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That washer you ordered and installed actually goes on the spline between the inner gear and the back of the sub transmission case. There is no washer on the outside of that shaft, only on the starter shaft and the intermediate shaft. Also you can remove the case without removing the rear rack or plastics other than the single piece directly in front of the rear tire.

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jon, you can for sure but it is a bit of a pain. For the amount of time it takes i removed mine because it makes the job very easy then. If you go onto suzuki’s parts diagram for the shaft there is definitely a washer. It is supposed to be non splined of course and a smaller diameter. This washer was the wrong “proper” one but it did work.

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Steve, yeah it was the wrong one but it served it’s purpose. I had to wait 2 weeks to get this one so i made sure it would work and cause no issues. I looked on the parts diagram again and googled the part number. It always brought up the splined washer and i called suzuki again. Anyways if i had the right part i would have used it, being 2 weeks out already i installed everything and went ahead with the re install. I am glad you mentioned yours has all three as mine should have. The previous owner of this bike was not mechanical and tore this cover off to replace the starter clutch once with a cheap one and i am thinking that is when the washer never got re installed. I could have lost it but could not find it anywhere.

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah they do take a bit for parts. I bought a winderosa gasket kit complete and leave it on the shelf here. I would get you to bring up that part number to see at the dealer for the washer but i have been running it like for 2 years now and no issues that i can find so i guess i will leave it. Like i showed in the video it was splined and loose but once the case was installed it sandwiches it in there and was the correct thickness so it should be alright just not “proper”.

    • @handheldgarage3297
      @handheldgarage3297 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks you saved me hours removing plastics if i don't have to especially since my rear rack was hit by the previous owner causing things to not line up. I'll probably take the rear tire off to make it more accessible.

    Hey Schneids, Thanks so much for all your great and informative videos!
    I've been working on my friend's '91 and it won't charge at all, I just have battery voltage. What would you check first? Should I pull this side cover off and see if there's corrosion on the contacts? Check to see if it's producing AC voltage and not switching to DC at the rectifier?

      @@Schneids15 I had 2 of my buddies over all prying on all 3 pry tabs on the case while hitting it with a rubber mallot. It's held inside by something. Maybe one of the races is groves from wear and causing it to not come out. No idea but 3 hours of prying on it and I had enough for today. I didn't want to put the screw driver up the side because I don't want to score the aluminum and have it leak, but at this point I will try anything. No it is not. The hand starter is on the end of the crank shaft.

    Is this a manual trans with a clutch or an automatic?

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct it is a Manual trans. It is called semi Auto because you do not have to release the clutch with your hand it goes automatically to engage but you have to let off and shift gears still.

      So that puller you used looks like it is used to push the new bearing back on. But how do you get that assembly off?

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CjDirtBike24 The puller only pulls the flywheel off. you thread it into the flywheel and then tighten onto the end of the crank and it will pop it off.

    Every time I try to start the king quad all I get is solenoid chatter. Where is the solenoid on a 1997 Suzuki king quad. Thank you

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Garde, the solenoid is right behind the battery up front. You will have to remove the plastics to get to it. A fast route is just cut a 2” or so hole in the side of the battery box and you will be able to remove and replace it without front plastic removal.

    Hello I was wondering if you had a video that included the removal of the motor case cover. I am very impressed with your video, thank you.

    While trouble shooting my king quad no spark issue and all ready checked external items. Believe it may the stator and see exactly where it’s at in the casing. Hope this is the solution to my no spark issue.

      I’ll take that extra gasket for the pull start since I forgot to order one with my starter clutch and gasket .
