I had class mate in high school with similar technique abilitys, we had few boys who trained football, when we played after school nobody could take ball from him, sad thing he never succeed bc of war in Yugoslavia and high corruption in all countrys till this day!!! Never saw such skills ever again, he was small, slim and slow but his skills were pure art, one time he told me to put ball wherever i want and he will hit crossbar, 5 time in a row i set up ball on different position and distance, he hitted crossbar every time!!! We wre 16yrs old

Roman Requelme is really famous in South America for his unique style. He does not run much but he is so lethal and clinical finisher. His passing and dripling are exceptionally amazing. Van Ghal misused him while playing at barca. He is classic number 10. I rate him as high as zizo

This guy was very truly underrated for what he was as a footballer. Had he stayed at Barca longer (Van Gaal!) or moved to another European club, he would have even been bigger than he was. I'm not a Barca fan, but, if it was him and Xavi & Iniesta, or paired with one of them, it would have be something magical.

The best skillful Midfielder I have ever seen. The most successful midfielder I have seen is Zidane,Iniesta,xavi,Ronaldinho who were all greats and who won world cup,CL both. But if you talk about individual skills, this guy Riquelme stands out. Just look at that first touch, that feint, that balance and that dribbling ability. Unbelievable at times. He's like Messi with bit less speed but that first touch is almost identical to Messi's touch. Also when he runs with ball it seems the ball stays glued to his feet which is why its almost impossible to take the ball away from his feet. This is exactly what the England players and coach Sven Ericksson said in 2005 friendly. Like Messi, he had that strange spell on the ball. A magic spell that used to bind that ball to his feet and opposition had to foul him to take it away from him.

I haven't followed football for many years by now cause it's "another thing" now in my opinion but Riquelme was still part of a football that you could call Poetry... This guy was very truly underrated for what he was as a footballer. Had he stayed at Barca longer (Van Gaal!) or moved to another European club, he would have even been bigger than he was. I'm not a Barca fan, but, if it was him and Xavi & Iniesta, or paired with one of them, it would have be something magical.

The best skillful Midfielder I have ever seen. The most successful midfielder I have seen is Zidane,Iniesta,xavi,Ronaldinho who were all greats and who won world cup,CL both. But if you talk about individual skills, this guy Riquelme stands out. Just look at that first touch, that feint, that balance and that dribbling ability. Unbelievable at times. He's like Messi with bit less speed but that first touch is almost identical to Messi's touch. Also when he runs with ball it seems the ball stays glued to his feet which is why its almost impossible to take the ball away from his feet. This is exactly what the England players and coach Sven Ericksson said in 2005 friendly. Like Messi, he had that strange spell on the ball. A magic spell that used to bind that ball to his feet and opposition had to foul him to take it away from him.

I'm from Italy and Riquelme is one of my favorite footballers ever, my fave one is R. Baggio but i love Roman, he was a superb playmaker endowed with great class, intelligence, technique and skills. Fantastic player and in my opinion very underrated.
