#MakingBackpack. Oh my goodness! I started with problems with the jacquard fabric and the canvas both fraying for England despite the iron-on interfacing. Finally putting it together ...AND THEN my Janome domestic machine rebelled and refused to sew up the back and front to the gusset, lots of bangs and clanks! So I got out my metal thimble and some heavy duty thread and I am sewing it together by hand (backstitch). It was then that I watched Dianne's video and saw that she was using a Singer HEAVY DUTY machine to sew it together. I wish it had said somewhere on the pattern that this was going to be needed, I might not have used this fabric kit! It looks OK, but I've got sore hands and it's taken three times as long as it needed!
This is a great size bag. I didnt understand the u shape that was drawn and sewn on the outer pocket though. Is it just limiting the size of the pocket? Also does it leave an open channel on either side? I know you didn’t write the pattern but im curious if you think that step could be skipped? Maybe add a snap or velcro to keep the pocket from gaping open instead?
