Forgot to mention: I recommend looking up the Starlit Citadel Reviews episode in which they play Codenames. Because of that video we'll forever refer to a clue that brilliantly combines disparate elements as "laser carrot".
Codenames itself includes a cooperative 2-player version which my younger child and I love to play together. For that reason, I couldn't understand why Codenames Duet even existed, until I watched your video. I can see Duet offers a better 2-player experience (not surprisingly). The time element is cool, although one could implement that oneself for 2-player Codenames. But the false assassins is brilliant. I'm way over budget for the year on game purchases already (yes, in June :( ), so I probably won't pick up Duet. But I'll put it on my math trade list for sure. Thanks.
Robert Ahearne we probably should have mentioned the 2 player codenames variant... It's obviously not as good but I kind of dismissed it while writing this. Ah well!
We're not great at it either, but it's still so much fun. It's a game we both enjoy, because my wife isn't a gamer - but she's a puzzler, so Codenames Duet is perfect. We'll have to try an Escape Room in A Box game at some point.

Which one? Depends how many friends you have.

Great work and a really hard decision with a satisfying tie breaker if you ask me. Looking forward to more of Season 2!
Thanks Marius! Really appreciate it! :D
Nah duet is on a whole different level
Would you recommend the Duet for a group of 10?
Great job guys! Can't wait for the rest of this season :)
Codenames Duet is absolutely awesome. My wife and I play it all the time now... well, every evening anyway. :)
Tabletop Games Blog that's fantastic! My wife and I are absolutely hopeless at it :P fortunately we are much better at The Mind and Pandemic

So glad you guys are back! Can you help me decide between Magic Maze & Spirit Island?
James Howlett I wish I could but I haven't had chance to play either of them yet :(
Yay! Season 2! Great start to the new series.
Yay Series 2! And I see the break was to allow Robin to acquire a Flexo style evil twin beard! Or is the *real* Robin elsewhere?
He also had to finish constructing his evil lair. Robin is such a method actor...
Codenames and duet are both great games, looking forward to the next episode.
Buy duet and codenames pictures and mix em up!
Excellent humorous video.
I like your stuff, just suggest that Matt work on not having that wry smile on his face all the time that seems to say “gosh, we are really funny”.
