Loved your reaction and your emotions concerning Neil, It hits me and I'm sure 1000s of others, sometimes, when I'm watching RUSH or just listening to them out of nowhere my eyes swell up, and I just have to take a moment break before going back to the music, In fact there are a couple Of their songs that I just can't play, or try playing it and with tears in my eyes just have to shut it off, and that's Ok, it's been 4 years now, but to me after all the years that I grew up with RUSH, its like I said before it's Ok to have these Emotions, now if Niel new this in some celestial way,he would probably be like ,Oh come on now, really and put his sticks down, and as he walked away, crack one of his wry smiles, Hang in there Pal,once again thanks for sharing not only your reaction, but a Beautiful part of yourself, Peace, Love and great music and memories. ✌❤🙏😎
An expert on performance studied athletes, musicians, artists and wrote a book about it. He determined one common characteristic they all shared. 10,000 hours of practice to be exceptional. Now after 40 years what would that make RUSH??? Greatest of all time!
Same three guys for 41 years and they never burdened us with infighting, drugs, booze, or drama. Never had to worry about any of that getting in the way.
That was great to see. Just three regular guys, hanging out, having a laugh who just happen to be world class musicians. It's funny you saying about a top 5. I find with any band I really like that they constantly change.
Rush we’re very well rehearsed before starting a tour. The usually rented out a warehouse somewhere close to the tour opening city and rehearsed the entire show servers times including the road crew practicing setting up and tearing down. Neil especially got himself in shape by either swimming, skiing, or other aerobic exercise depending on the seasons and then relearned on his own for a few weeks before joining the rest of the entourage for full band rehearsals. Anyone who has been fortunate to have seen them live will tell you they perform a t an extremely high level show in and show out and what they’re pulling off on stage is not easy. They are very serious about playing well and always striving to be better. They are a classic case of hard working individuals but alas regular guys that enjoy each other’s company and I’m sure many bands are envious of that. That is why you last for as long as they did !
Hey Red!! Haven't sent a message this way in a while. Thanks for sharing this. Had never seen it.♥️♥️ It's a great example of how much they enjoyed playing together and having fun. Special. Yeah his smile is totally infectious.
There is actually an expansion of that clip where Neil drops his stick and it grazes Alex’s foot, and he doubles over screaming in pain as if an anvil had hit it, which is just hilarious.
Favorite Rush song ... Hmmmm, let's see. It's either the one I just heard OR the next one on the playlist and often changes with my mood and/or attitude. The wonderful thing is, I can always find one that "just fits."
TOTALLLY AWESOME REACTION!!! My Uncle was Dick Albert from Channel 5 BOSTON for 31 yrs!! :) ♥ Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
One of the things I always loved about Rush… they take their music very seriously, but they don’t take themselves seriously.

Their warmup time before stage time was lengthy, one concert they were backstage with the Zep, Plant and Page popped over, took a seat, babbled, how ya doin? Ok, we gotta do a show, have a good one, no practice no nothing, Alex and Geddy were going holy s**t great days Red.
I love this behind-the-scenes stuff, too. Funny you mention a tub of VHS tapes; my husband is a pack rat and has a large Rubbermaid tub full of old VHS tapes from the 80s and early 90s. When I mentioned he should do something with them, he brought one downstairs and put it in our VHS/DVD player (which still works!). It was an old SNL tape from 1991 featuring the 'Pat' character (I have a feeling that brand of humor wouldn't fly today!). Anyway, he still laughed all the way through it. At some point, you may want to do a reaction (cut into a few parts) of Geddy's book tour interview (conducted by Alex!). To find the video, just type in, 'Geddy Lee live at Massey Hall.' It's more of a conversation than an interview, and Geddy's memoir is fascinating in and of itself. Having Alex there to recount memories with Geddy makes it even more special.
The book tour with Geddy and Alex is a must!! They are quick witted and funny! They are also as you can the very best of friends. Geddy's book is also fabulous. ❤
You warm the hearts of all of us who are the "grizzled vets" of Rush fandom. It's only fair that we return the favor anyway we can. I don't have a top 5 songs either. I have my all-time favorite instrumental song and vocal song, then all of the others are my second favorites. Now albums is another story, for another time.
Super tight, Super clean, Super Badass live band. RUSH NIGHT was always very special. They had fans who followed them on tours, county to country even! The most I saw in a short frame of time was twice on the Hold Your Fire tour. First in San Antonio and the next stop in Austin. Thems were the daze. 😁👍
Being only about half way through their song list, circa 170 in total, it must be very difficult to decide which would be the top five, so many gems to go yet.
Continuing the theme of "not really rock stars", in 1984 on their Grace Under Pressure Tour, they hired a Berlitz language teacher to tour with them so they could learn French. Fucking love those guys.👍😁 I love in that sequence , too, with Alex and Neil: while Neil pretends to be offended by Alex's coughing and "leaves", he's the one who starts it up again. LOL 😂 Such goofballs
As cool as they all are-ALEX is by far the funniest, Neil the smartest, and Geddy the sweetest. NOW THAT’S a formula for success if there ever was one.🖖🤘✌️
You need to check out Geddy's book tour stop (Live At Massey Hall) in Toronto with Alex as the guest host. For copyright reasons, you may not be able to do a reaction, but from a personal perspective, it is so touching and personal seeing these friends talking about Junior High, meeting and their relationship with Neil and some great stories with the two.
Hi 'Red', loving your videos; as a matter of fact, LIMELIGHT is my favorite RUSH song; then THE GARDEN, BRAVADO, NOBODY'S HERO and I'm guessing SUBDIVISIONS.
Some award-winning music docs you should watch: " A Year on The Road With Duke Ellington" ('71)."Standing In the Shadows of Motwon" (2002) and The Bands " The Last Waltz" (73?) " Woodstock" and Miles Davis' "Miles In Paris" (89)..All with excellent interviews and concert footage. 10:01-What can ya say..what guy wouldn't want a pic of a smoking hot redhead?
Yes Neil seems so serious , but he has a good sense of humour, Chad Smith Red Hit Chili peppers Drummer talks about Neil in a tribute and their time together
Check out Alex argues with his parents , There was a documentary made when Alex was in high school and just by chance , He was in it , He sits at the dinner table discussing with his parents about his future , He father was a political prisoner in Yugoslavia, , One Interesting thing g at the end was when they talk about the son Alex had with his Ex girl friend , But they made up after this documentary and married and stayed together the rest of their lives , His dad worked many jobs to put food on the table , Check out Alex Lifeson arguing with his parents
With Your Love of Rush the guys you should really review the official videos for Limelight and Tom Sawyer that were both shot at their music studio in the woods in Canada. I think that's kind of an insight into who Rush was as a band.

Soup!? Makes total sense!! That's why not only can they play their own stuff but also their top shelf kind of music while many other bands have messed up the their own songs because they were drunk. Not fair to the sober fans! RUSH IN RIO!! Concert and behind the scenes AND fan interviews!! Been a while but this might be from the RIO movie. The drum warm up is way longer! Good Job Red! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼
Alex tells the story of early on when they (maybe just Alex and Geddy??) smoked some pot before a concert. Alex said everything they played in the sound check sounded great (where they experiment a lot and try new licks). They sounded THE BEST EVER!!! But when they got out on stage to play the real songs it was REALLY difficult and it was terrible. He said they never smoked before a concert ever again. I think Geddy added that folks were paying good money to see them, and they wanted to put on the best possible show that they could. Every night.
Many great songs, but to me, Limelight is as perfect a song as it gets. Not "the greatest, but a great opening riff with a nice drum drop, great lyrics, and an incredible guitar solo. To me, it's just perfect.
Hi Red You should look into ‘dinner with Rush, ‘ it’s rather amusing, Alex is the total clown of the band. They actually released a RUSH beer a few years back , with the man in star logo, I picked up a few cans . I think the ad is still on TH-cam...

Hey RHN, my top 5 for Rush is the 19 studio albums + feedback !!!! Too bad the video got cut short. Further into the scene with Alex and Neil.....Neil drops a drumstick and Alex pretends it hit his foot. It's freakin hilarious. See if you can find it and rewatch it in your "spare" time.
The funny thing is, Neil's 'warmup' is far better than most drummers' solos' 😂😂

I don't have a list of Top 5 Rush Songs, but I do have a list of Top 5 Rush Decades. '70's, '80's, '90's, 00's, and 2010's.

They're Humble & Real People!!!!
It's great how much you appreciate them as human beings...awesome
The biggest issue with defining a top 5 list for Rush is that by the time you've heard their songs enough to have a top 5, it's a top 50.
I can't even fit my faves in top 50!
Welcome to the herd!!

My top 5 Rush songs...the last five that I listened to that day,
Absolutely! That's how I pick mine as well. 😉

When Ged is just singing Limelight backstage without projecting it at concert level, he sounds just like me lol!
There is actually an expansion of that clip where Neil drops his stick and it grazes Alex’s foot, and he doubles over screaming in pain as if an anvil had hit it, which is just hilarious.
These guys were and are just regular guys, not "rock stars". They never saw themselves as the typical rock star. So Canadian! 🇨🇦 🍁
