      It's like, what, 6 years old? And it's not even IN Atlanta. With the exception of Dodger Stadium, the other ballparks I mentioned are actually IN neighborhoods. They're part of the fabric of the city.
      I'm an urbanist. I'm inclined to like ballparks you can actually walk to -- not have to get on the highway and be stuck in traffic to even get near -- stadiums that are located near a freeway interchange.
      When I was a kid, I could hop on the 'L' with my friends and get off the red line at Addison. When I was a grad student, I worked at a record store on Boylston. I could take the green line to Kenmore Square and walk up to the impossibly green edifice of Fenway. Atlanta's not a city that's particularly friendly to pedestrians. I'm sure Truist is nice, but it's only six years old and already working on its second name.

    1. Back in the early 2010s I had a 4-day pass and preview night pass to San Diego Comic-con. Took the train down, then the trolley over to the stadium for a noon time get away game (I was behind home plate, about 12 rows back) then strolled across the street to the convention center for Comic-con. Freakin' awesome. 2. Dodger Stadium - when you own the team, you also own the stadium and the entire parking lot. The downside is that is takes forever to get out as it sits in a residential area. Saw the Kings and Ducks play hockey there too. 4. Saw a game at Fenway on the 4th of July, then saw the Boston Pops perform that evening, followed by fireworks on the Charles River. The narrator mentioned public transportation to get to Oracle Park: living in San Francisco, one can take the Muni there, or a bus and Muni. People living in the South Bay and Peninsula can take Caltrain, as the terminus is two blocks away. East Bay people can take BART and then Muni from the Embarcadero stop, or take a ferry from Alameda or Jack London Square in Oakland. It's stupid to drive to a game at Oracle, and there is no need to do so. To encourage taking public transportation, the one last parking lot is about a quarter mile away, since closer ones now are sites of condos and offices.

    Whoever designed PNC Park must have walked around the perimeter of the Pittsburgh skyline until they found the best possible angle, and then just bought that piece of land from whoever owned it to build a ballpark there. It literally looks like the entire city was made as a decoration for the outfield of the ballpark lol.

      @@sportspotlight6722 Then how can you make a list of the top ten? I have been to 14 Major league ballparks. I couldn't tell you how they match up to ballparks I've never been to. I've been to Camden Yards, Fenway, Wrigley Field, Busch Stadium, Oakland Alameda, Royals Stadium, Petco Park, Oracle Park, Safeco Field, Dodger Stadium, Chase Field, Oracle Park, Turner Field, Candlestick Park and Angel Stadium. I'd probably say Camden Yards, Oracle Park and Wrigley are the top three of the MLB stadiums I've been to with Safeco (now T-mobile park) in 4th place. Dodger Stadium might rank higher except its location sucks and is very hard to get into or or out of.

      @@sportspotlight6722A few. Most are not there any more. I had been to Candlestick, the LA Coliseum, Oakland Alameda, Jack Murphy, Arrowhead, Soldier Field, the old Atlanta Falcons stadium, the Orange Bowl, the Kingdome and Centurylink which is named something else. The only two relatively new NFL Stadiums I've been to are CenturyLink and Levi's Stadium. CenturyLink wins hands down because it's in the city. Light Rail will drop you off maybe 100 yards away from the gate, Pioneer Square and downtown are close by and the atmosphere is electric. Levi's Stadium has one thing going for it. It has every amenity. But it is far away from the city, the transportation sucks and the atmosphere is awfull. It's too fancy, and too expensive although NFL football everywhere is far too expensive for me. I go to a game occasionally on special occasions. MLB is easy. I travel a lot and if I'm in a Major League city I try to go. Doesn't matter where I sit. I usually buy the cheapest seat and just walk around the stadium and watch the game on the TV sets all over the park.

    What's wrong with Citi Field? It's got everything you want in a ball park. Easy access by bus and the Number 7 subway line. The only time it's a mess is when the US Open is across the street for 2 weeks if the Mets are home. It's got a really retro look to the 1910's with a fully modern look inside with unobstructed views of the field.

    • @MattSezer
      @MattSezer ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't really have the retro look; it's a generic modern corporate stadium with some retro decorations. It's not bad, but it's not amazing either. I'd rank it about in the middle, maybe slightly above middle, for MLB stadiums.

      I agree. Skydome, or Rogers Centre, as it’s now called, rarely makes “top ten” lists because it’s a multi-purpose stadium, designed to accommodate baseball and football. That concept has fallen out of favor. But when I visited Toronto in 2017, I went to a game there to judge for myself. The place is an absolute gem! A great place to watch a game.

  • @erikwestervelt6083

    Each of the stadiums are really nice. I've personally visited 9 of the 10 on this list, and it's hard to argue with the selections here.
    But I think more weight should be added to how well the home team has actually performed at their home stadium over the years and the overall "vibe" created by the home crowd.
    Pittsburgh for instance is a jewel of a ballpark. But the team is lousy and the fanbase is lukewarm at best. Thus the stadium is usually less than half-full for games over the years. So if you're looking for the total ballpark experience of not just a nice stadium with good amenities and concessions, but also a great atmosphere PNC Park is not it.
    Fenway, Wrigley, Oracle, and Dodger Stadium all have the great baseball atmosphere that a Pittsburgh, Kansas City, San Diego, Baltimore or Minneapolis (among others) just cannot compete with. And some stadiums that did not make the list - Philly, St. Louis, Detroit - have it as well when the teams are competitive.
