No matter what you decide to do in life, there will be obstacles. The only way to have less worries, is to work for someone else. And that comes with its own set of issues. But to own your own business, there will always be set backs and things that go wrong! So that is why it is most important to have a business that is something you actually enjoy and feel good about doing!
I am sending prayers your way! For the greatest outcome possible! I think as time goes on, and you get a good reliable supplier, things will only improve for you! Plus, I am not certain, but the whole "pandemic" has affected so many things in the world! It could have played a part in what you experienced as well. Maybe not. But it could have. One thing is for certain, YOU ARE A HARD WORKER! You are a VERY INTELLIGENT MAN! You are COURAGEOUS! Not afraid to take a chance! And you are always looking for answers! I SEE NOTHING STANDING IN YOUR WAY! Whatever comes your way, I am certain you will over come it! I LOVE SEEING HOW YOU ARE DOING! Thank you for the update! KEEP SMILING! IT ONLY GETS BETTER FROM HERE!

In my location chicks & eggs are so easily accessible but you have these challenges that you WILL overcome. I love that you are sharing the good and the bad both, it's real life :) You are teaching others and we are learning from you. I'm working on a video about hatching eggs from my Silkies & Cochins now, my incubator will arrive Monday. Thank You Thank You Thank You! For everything you teach us. Hie Doc, from Zimbabwe, i also keep chickens. When i get a delivery i usually give the birds a stresspac solution or water mixed with sugar so that they are not affected by the stress of moving from one place to another. When poop blocks their tubes..we call it chitosi and we usually use esb3 or alyseryl and it works wonders

Another trick I use (in addition to honey and garlic water) is to cut up apples very fine to give them a much needed natural sugar boost and help with digestion stress. Unfortunately you have no control over what happens to them before and during shipping and no way of knowing what they may have been through so don't blame yourself. Much luck and love to you my friend from Georgia, USA.

I had a look around old forums for a cheap healthy solution to your problem
The one thing I could find that might be very useful is to add apple juice.to their first water on arrival.
It's a fibre food and helps to move their tummys kindly.
There's other ways ofcourse but you're already using those
Sometimes you're going to lose some simply because they.hatch weak from the start and won't drink properly. I've had that problem lately with a few guinea fowl..saved some and lost some.
    But onwards and upwards!

My brother please read this. Carbon monoxide poisoning is caused by inhaling combustion fumes. ... But if they're used in a closed or partially closed space - cooking with a charcoal grill indoors, for example - the carbon monoxide can build to dangerous levels. Smoke inhalation during a fire also can cause carbon monoxide poisoning.

Great job doctor-farmer Daniel. I think you should invest in digital hydrothermographs(hygrometer) to be sure the temperature and humidity are within safe ranges. The birds were stressed, no doubt. I also suspect that a number of them needed encouragement ingesting the medicated water on arrival. Perhaps many more drinkers the first 24hrs might help. Well done Sir.

Don't quit Dr. Daniel. I've been following you since the lockdown and you've given me a lot of inspiration. The main reason I feel to why you're birds aren't doing well, is because they arrived stressed and really had a long journey. My advice to you for your next project is to try and get a suitable chick supplier from nearer to your farm so they can arrive within 24hrs of hatching. I wish you the best in the future. I'm so sorry you're going through this. Everyone who deals with animals long enough goes through it. :( I've raised chickens for almost 20 years. Three years ago I started adding dried Moringa to their feed for the first 3 or 4 days and haven't lost a single chick since. I give it once a week to all my chickens now. It's expensive here in the US, but would think it's much cheaper in your country....idk. What I can tell you is their eggshells are harder, and their feathers are super shiny. The amount of feed decreases about 20-25%, and I haven't had a single death (yet!). My 3 yr olds are laying as much as the year old hens. I haven't had a single case of pasty butt either. Not one. They must need whatever is in it because the days I add it, they go crazy over their feed. The day after when it's not added, they don't eat much at all.

Hello Doc. Daniel. It's unfortunate that you are losing the little chics at such a terrific speed. But just like you said, I think the same thing, stress from the long flight and journey to reach you. I don't know about the environment. Looking at the floor for them, is it soft for them to sleep without feeling pressed? Then about the chic mash... I'm not sure how certain you tell that they all drunk water before the feeding.
Great you're sharing your experience with the world. Great of you. Thank you

I am a poultry farmer in Kenya. Use liquid paraffin to help in digestion and avoid stool being stuck(the infection). Make the poultry quiet and peaceful. You will make it

Don't quit now. Already your birds are recovering from the malnutrition and dehydration caused by the long journey. But I stand by my comment about the carbon monoxide. See my explanation in the day2 comments in response to your reply that there is no smoke. Please find a better solution to keeping the birds warm. And you are endangering your own health if you are sleeping in with those charcoal heaters. Be careful. You can die from that. Be well and safe and don't give up.

Dr Daniel please remove carbort on floor of brooder and put something that will absorb the chicken manure to which you can add every other day like wood chips or wood shaving or even hay.

They look really cold. The heater is too small/not enough heat. They're going near the heater. Increase ur heat so they won't crowd when they sleep. When they crowd, at such big number, most will be at the bottom and will die of suffocation. The caretaker has to observe them and prevent that. They don't need much vitamins. I raised brown layers without vitamins. Main cause of death at days old is usually temperature instead of food & water. I'm so sorry to hear about ur problem. I understand how frustrating it is when u have many deaths when it could have been prevented and when u know u have done the right thing but problems keep coming up that u need to be present at the farm to understand what's the problem and it's usually the caretaker is not doing it right.
