    How ironic is it that just before the notification of this video, I found one of these on Facebook marketplace for free? Unfortunately it's hours away and I can't get it.
    BUT your video is here now and I get to learn all about it :)

    this was the machine that started it all for me. shortly after you did your last grand prix series. I saved one from a scrappers junk pile. got it to work pretty well. now 2 years or so later I have 4 pinball machines. 2 hybrids ( baby pacman & granny and the gators) a huge arcade machine and a megatouch... It's a disease Ron. at least your making some money all mine is going one way!

    Compared to the condition some of the machines have been in, this system is almost pristine!
    Such a shame the previous owners didn't fix the flippers and left them to damage the machine.

    You ever come across a RockMakers EM pinball? I traded my minibike for one as a kid in the 80s. It’s long gone and I’ve never seen another one until once at the pinball museum in banning, CA. It was unique where the flippers would squeeze in so you could catch the ball.

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I actually have a Rock Makers but it's destroyed, we drug it out of a guy's basement about 10 years ago and he had let it sit on the ground back in the corner, it got a lot of water damage to the cabinet. Eventually we'll bring it in and repair it but we have some other ones in front of it! Thanks for watching Sideburn Studios, those flippers are called "Zipper Flippers", check this one out - th-cam.com/video/1Nn05FKpCuA/w-d-xo.html

    Capacitor is a nice addition. I haven't looked at Schematics on this one, but they could be using a Capacitor Discharge system, which would make all the solenoids working on DC extra snappy as they don't have the same voltage drops as non-capacitor systems.
    I love seeing you work on EM's, and this is, what I may suggest as the king of EM games

    Not sure I think this was Williams last mechanical pinball. They started making solid state machines in 77

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There were a couple more but this one kind of bridged the gap, the first Williams solid state game was a prototype Grand Prix but they never released it and kept working through the prototypes until they got it reliable

    I just thought of something. If someone uses window cleaner on the back glass, maybe use a quick-release tape at the bottom to keep the cleanser from pooling and soaking into the other side.
    Not sure why this came to mind. Some farmer had a lesion on his arm, and he thought he'd dig out the lesion. And he actually got a fair to good cosmetic result from his DIY surgery. He didn't live long after that. He died of brain cancer. What happened was that he broke off some of the tumor that was on his arm and it went into the bloodstream. Now, one might ask, how did it become a brain tumor if there is the blood-brain barrier? The tumor grew into the barrier and grew to the other side of it into the brain. A different scenario from the glass and cleaner seepage, but somewhat similar.

    Great video Ron! I love pinball machines from any era, & deserve to be saved. I loved the Bride of Pin-Bot series, I was wondering if there was going to be a playthrough video coming, or has the machine been returned to the owner? As always, keep up the good work!

      @LyonsArcade  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Pinball 541, we're still working on the Bride the customer wants all kinds of stuff done to it so it's a big project, we still have a lot of cosmetic stuff to do. I don't really enjoy making the gameplay videos for many reasons. They get less views than the other videos.... they got lots of negative comments... they get tons of people telling me I can't play as good as them.... they get people nitpicking every little thing that isn't perfect, or they imagine isn't perfect with the game.... they get lots of people complaining the game doesn't play fair, or the left outlane is too wide, or they designer made the hole between the flippers too big, or whatever.... they get people telling me I'm not filming it right, they get people telling me they can't see because of the glare, or that the flippers are weak, or that they like this game better than that game, etc. I should put LED's in it, I shouldn't put LED's in it, I put the wrong color LED's in it, ..... I don't enjoy filming them anymore mainly because of that so I'm not going to film as much gameplay moving forward. I still play them and have a ton of fun with them but not on camera

Your videos are #1 at presentation of machines in an individual way. I remember when I was a kid.
    My local arcade was selling a few EM machines to make room for solid state games.
    Like Grand Prix space Odyssey Tommy Captain fantastic and a few others.
    But they were set up in the middle of the game room for sale While the new solid state games were on the wall.
    But at the time the EM machines were still active to be played with quarters while being sold.
    So I was looking at the Grand Prix had two to three free games on it so I played that.
    But I noticed there was a little glitch in the system. I can't remember exactly which saucer it had to land.
    But when the ball went into the saucer all he had to do was flip the flippers and it would rack up more points then it was supposed to score.
    So after about 10 minutes I ended up with like 30 free games.
    So yeah I was taking advantage of the system.

    I would imagine that "Balls A-Poppin" is also a very complex machine- even more complex than this one- as it has variable multiball (the first flipper game to have multiball) and a tabular score chart similar to the bingo machines Bally made back then.

      There is a weighted switch on the front door that opens if you beat on the door... people used to beat the hell out of the doors hoping it would make the coin switches bounce and give you a free credit, but they put a weighted switch on the door that opens when you do that, killing the coin switches, LOL Keeping people from getting free games was a big problem they ran into over the years....
