Very well said. Namaskarams to Dushyanth Sridhar ji. Sriman Narayana or Sri Jagannadha diety was first given to Brahma by Sri Mahaa Vishnu after learning the Vedas from Vishnu ji. On seeing Brahma's utmost devotion towards him (guru & Bhagavan), Vishnu ji gives his deity saying there is no difference between him and that deity. After long time, this deity was given to Manu by Brahma. Later on, the same deity was given to Surya by Manu. Time flies and one day Surya gives the deity to Ikshvaaku king. Since then all the Ikshvaaku kings worshipped the deity till Sri Ramachandra. After Rama's coronation as King, Vibhishana feels bad as he has to go back to his place Lanka but unable to leave due to the feeling of separation from Rama. At this time, Rama gives the deity to Vibhishana which gets to Srirangam on his way and earned the name "Sri Ranganaadha". In Kaliyuga, Andal (Goda devi) - an ayonija - girl was found by a devotee Vishnuchittha in his Tulasi vanam in Srivilliputtur. In her teens, she gave "Thiruppavai" with 30 pasurams to people and married Ranganadha in Srirangam (Even today these pasurams in Tamil are recited in all SriVaishnava temples during Pongal days till the day before Bhogi day and perform Goda Ranganadha kalyanam on Bhogi day in all SriVaishnava temples).
When DS mentions two brothers of Kishkinda, i suddenly thought he was talking about Hakka Raaya and Bukka Raaya the founders of vijayanagara empire. Only difference is they did not fight like Vaali and Sugreeva :)
