It's not without risk. I was left with permanent scar tissue under one eye. Not on the skin, but underneath where the cannula/needle was inserted to place the fat. That was many years ago and although it's better than it was, it's still visible.

    • @bonnier7746

I wonder if the needle could be inserted by the temple/side of under eye when inserting fat, to prevent noticeable scar tissue? I’m thinking of having this done, but worried it won’t turn out the way I want it to. 😮

Really interesting, and very comforting that he's not an early adopter. There's always a cutting edge, but you only have one face. Also interesting that he noted a decline in surgery, but that's clearly the most durable intervention: expensive, riskier than injections, but also a bigger payoff.

@@JoolaJen I still haven't done anything as of yet other than a little bit of botox in the glabella. I personally won't be doing any filler in the under eye and if I ever have the guts and the money to go to a reputable surgeon like Dr Karam, I think I will still be very scared of fat transfers because of the possibility of vascular occlusion. I'm now leaning towards energy devices to tighten the face but again some of those can lead to fat loss and on my research journey I have found that much of the information out there is opinion based and it really depends on what physician you're asking. The contradictions in terms of the information available is dizzying and making my head spin and I really don't know what direction to Go in. So for now it's just moisturizer sunscreen and trying to limit stress and caffeine but the latter 2 are very difficult to do right now LOL

@@thehonestchannel I really like Ivan Galanin’s (Adipeau) take on the whole fat transfer idea. I feel like the cosmetic industry is always looking for ‘quick fixes’ rather than approaching it from the foundational function of our bodies. Injecting things into places they don’t belong is just another way they sell “solutions” for which there are no long term studies. And just like he said - fat cells remember where they came from.
Our bodies are so much more complex than even doctors realize.
Thank you again for tackling all these interesting subjects. Blessings

@@birdlover7776 I know plenty of women that have aged absolutely beautifully without any surgical interventions, or even Botox or fillers! Myself, and all the women in my family included.
I invest in myself daily - I invest in my spiritual and my physical health. I invest in self love and self acceptance. Superficial things are just that - superficial. The industry again offers a ‘solution’ rather than addressing the problem. And - just because our society and the “beauty” industry is normalizing injecting ourselves with whatever, does not mean that it actually makes people more ‘beautiful’. If anything, I’d think it creates an avalanche of more self confidence issues, as the quick fix fades and they will always want more.

One side can break and you will have uneven face. Its painfull to. Lastly-you will get fibrosis and surgions hate this, your future surgical gace lift will be more complicated/expensive.

Great interview and very informative. The only area I wish that was discussed is in regards to asymmetry and percentage of times this happens when using in the cheek area. It would seem to be a high percentage since there is a possible 50% chance of the fat not taking which then in turn seems more than likely the amount of loss/maintained probably would not be exactly equal in each cheek.

Great discussion!! No procedure is without risk. If you're considering fillers, they have risks too! I would trust a doctor over an injector, personally. There are great injectors out there, but they do not have to have much experience or education, certainly not as much as a doctor, which is a little unnerving to me. Always check credentials and look at before and after pics to ensure that you like the aesthetic of the practitioner.

I had consultation with aplastic surgeon about this facial fat transfer, he said it doesn't solve laxity that you have to be very conservative usually combined with a face lift he said if you harvest the fat from the abdomen it still behaves like abdominal fat and easily increases if you put on some weight more so than normal facial fat does, the impression I got was that it should only be used very sparingly so I'm guessing if you are under 40 it may be ok for facial thinness but after 40 it is best combined with a facelift, the fee for anyone interested was1660.00 per treatment I'm guessing that's per vial of fat as a daycase under LA some surgeons may cost more a facelift is between 10k up to 30k depending what you have done I was quoted £16k for facelift upper and lower blepharoplasty 1 overnight stay in hospital under GA Wilmslow hospital it will be much more expensive outside of NW of England I know that one surgeon does facelifts under LA in Birmingham it was 6k on my quote for the hospital fees alone 🎉

6:17 So you’re saying that nano-fat is used on softer areas, like around the eyes or nasolabial folds? You’re saying this is because it distributes more smoothly & decreases the risk of getting irregularities. If we decide to do the fat transfer procedure, I wonder how we can ask our surgeon if they will be using nano-fat for these areas. I also want to know if they’re harvesting the fat properly, and implanting it properly, so that the fat will have as little chance as possible to die off. These things are essential for a successful procedure, yet it’s hard to tell what you’re signing up for when picking a surgeon. That’s the part that makes me the most anxious.

19:09 I’d also like to hear more about the exosomes. Although fat is said to have stem cells, I worry that it might not be enough to allow the fat to assimilate with the area of the face where it was transferred. If fat was taken from the belly, and then transferred to the face, wouldn’t that fat grow & shrink in the same way that the belly fat does when the person gains or loses weight? I’m concerned about lumps of fat being formed if I gain or lose weight, and my face ends up looking disproportional. So, I really hope they figure out the stem cell technology, and make the fat transfer procedure more reliable & with fewer risks involved.

How can I make sure that I am selecting someone who knows what he’s doing? You would need to have this conversation with a specialist who can assess your skin and suggest what would be most helpful for you.

I had fat transfer in my lips done by a board certified plastic surgeon and I ended up with a big duck lip. I’m SO depressed. It changed the whole look of my face in a bad way. It also caused the marionette lines to look more prominent. I need to find someone to correct this.

Do you know anyone who does work to fix an upper “duck” lip from a fat transfer? I’m so distressed about this.

This is my primary concern. HAs did nothing for me and was gone after a month. I think fat transfer would disappear because my weight fluctuates.

They asked me 9.000€for a single fat transfer procedure. .. I don't know. The downtime bothers me.. 3weeks no sport. 20days toldme not to sleep on the side of the face, not to move it. Can get lumps. I dont know

I had a good look at facial fat transfer a couple of years ago and the starting prices were 7-8k for a good London surgeon, and they're not much different, now . Further north, you're looking at 4k+ . Lipo is a pretty pricey procedure, anyway .

I know that in the north it's about £1660.00 per treatment with a consultant plastic surgeon not inc the initial consultation fee but likely very much more in London , I recently had a consultation for this in Cheshire spire hospital, again it can also depend on the surgeons and hospital fee this was under LA so less hospital fees and was a day case

    • @Lehanorah1918
      @Lehanorah1918 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@thehonestchannel Indeed . I spent a long while chatting to a surgeon about fat transfer (who I actually went to for a rhinoplasty consult(although I didn't choose him for that)) , so I satisfied my curiosity and concluded that it was expensive, invasive(the lipo bit) ,with results too fickle to justify the cost .
Mind you,I know a few people that have zero noticeable results from Sculptra, too, and the cost of that soon mounts once you start having 3/4/5+ sessions .
I guess with anything that's *so* dependent on the body's reaction, it's always going to be a bit of a lottery .

Yes and no. Is more safe to go little by little because the outcome is unpredictable . Yes is pricey. But you know that from day 0. Is an elective surgery. You have the money for...or not. No mystery there. Personally , I prefer to do it by bits and avoid bad surprises ( having to dissolve some "chunks"after - that costs 💰 also !- ).
