After practicing this for 4 hours straight while watching Rambo and the Truman Show, I have some additional tips in which he didn't mention: - The further away from the center of each packet that your index finger is (get it close to the upper right corner of the bottom packet and upper left corner of top packet) while leveling and preparing to 'faro' each packet into each other greatly increases the ease in which the packets weave; this is because, the higher up your index finger is while being pinched by the two packets, the more swing each packet gets and can mesh together at the tips better. - The condition of your cards you use to perform this impacts how easily the cards will weave, newer/slippery-er cards being easier. - You can weave/faro the cards with downwards or upwards pressure: I actually find it easier to pull down with my index, thumb and pinky finger (your hand would look like a talon or claw if the deck wasn't there while pulling down towards your palm at this point) as I'm trying to weave. Once they weave, the cards are already in position to apply the cascade pressures. - Practice, after about a solid 30min of trying you'll understand the move more and make your own micro adjustments suited to the size of your hands, the deck you use, etc. After another 30min you'll be able to get solid weaves and so on. I watched this this morning at around 10am and practiced it until 2pm straight and I'm still practicing while watching youtube vids and I can comfortably say that I got this shit down.
Years ago Ed Marlo showed a counter slight of hand artist name Stanley how to do this shuffle. It was in the middle 50's at an arcade, gift and magic shop on Randolph street in downtown Chicago. Ed had a professional shop in the back on the 2nd floor where he would teach the serious card mechanics the various slights much like John Scarne did in NY. I was fortunate to meet Ed up there as a teenager where the best card men in the country would often visit for instruction and demonstrations of their skills. I bought a few of Ed's books, he autographed those and I still have them. Stanly whos name was mentioned in one of the Marlo books taught me the one hand shuffle that you do so well here. He added a move that gives a little more control in doing the spread with the little finger and first finger playing an active part. Either way its a pretty impressive slight - thanks for your variation - also like the water fall flourish - first time I ever saw it.
Stumbled upon this video and recognized your voice from from a video I watched 7-8 years ago. It was an impromptu card trick "competition" you did for another channel (Mismag) called the card trick that never happened. That card trick stuck with me all these years.
Still working through this, but to those struggling to separate the cards, I made it easier to do the motions initially by wrapping two halves in rubber bands, and it made it so much easier.
I followed this video about 5 years ago and today I can do this move like a boss. I've recently been trying to master perfect one handed Faroe shuffle, and have come close. But thanks for this video.
my granddad could do this whilst drinking and reading a news paper. he made it look so easy. he could do all these fancy cuts with one hand. h also was a great magician. and i now want to do all these amazing cuts with one hand to. you teach very well. step by step instructions. keep it up
This is by far one of the coolest things I’ve seen that is moderately easier to do (not saying it’s easy by any means, just that it’s easier in comparison to some advanced cardistry moves).
I now know why 52 Pick Up is such a vital game to master! Finally achieved success though. Now just a matter of getting a smooth and consistent shuffle.
Been practicing this for an hour finally got it down, and it definitely does get easier everytime and once you play with it a lil you develop your own sorta groove it. Thanks alot been looking for a sic way to shuffle cards
Cards Daily I can do a 2 handed faro shuffle now but with one hand its just so difficult. I have pretty big hands too. Maybe the position i start my hands in just makes it harder for me to move the packs side by side
Here's a tip for anyone that was like me and just couldn't get the weave to happen. When you cut the cards, make sure one packet is smaller than the other. If it's the same size packet on each side , I find the cards won't weave, they buckle and bend. But if one side is smaller, it gives way and the edges collapse on each other and weave. Now I can do it almost every time. Small tweak but makes it work.
After watching this 2 months ago and practicing it nearly every night i can now say i can do the complete move. Still fair bit to go but i can do the move. :) I have only begun playing with cards properly the last year so to do this i am either talented (which i am not) with cards or with a lot of practice (which i have) anyone can do this. Thanks for the help 52Kards
you can do this with small hands. i have smallish hands and i can do it i just need to practice with the faro (weaving) and the stretching. it just takes practice people! don't give up! btw great video 52Kards. looking forward to future videos.
Thanks a lot for the tutorial! I saw this move a couple of times in a few videos but i just assumed that it was either somewhat hard or needed big enough hands (also i could never find a good tutorial for it). But since i can learn most of the moves you make tutorials for it really wasnt that hard :D Keep it up!

That is indeed one of the coolest looking shuffles I've ever seen. I won't be able to do it, obviously, still it's awesome.
I have probably the smallest hands in the magic industry and I have trouble but today after 2 months of practice (almost every day) I am now at the point of a weave, stop using excuses everyone
for all of you complaining about small hands. Richard Turner (who doesn't have very big hands) came up with a version where you do it longitudinal to get people to stop making excuses. your hands don't need to be big to do it. if you have tiny hands, all you need is finger flexibility. it will be harder. but definitely possible. no excuses.
I have small hands &this is how I do it. Cut the cards & have your index finger like the video, except you need to scoot your thumb down so that the tip of the thumb barely clear the cards. Angle so that the cards fall onto your pinky. Align the cards & apply pressure w/ thumb, middle, & ring finger to hold in place. Relocate pinky beside your ring finger. Relocate middle finger to the front and have the joint hanging over the top. Push packs together while middle finger pushes DOWN AND IN.
I believe it was How to Disturb reality that I learned how to do this from. Took me MONTHS of practice. One thing I would mention is when trying to put the together is pull down or push up ever slow slightly so the cards aren't going in on a single plane....if that is making any sense.
Thank you very much. This one is going to take some time to learn but i allready know i will succeed. Took me about 4 hours before i was capable of splitting the deck... But i found a way to do it 😃🤣
thanks for this thumbs up, between you and jarek120 i learned this in 3 days and 2 packs of cards later lol.. but please please please tell me how to do the watter wheel in detail. ones you have the 2 packets ready to combine you can make the kards kinda watter fall it's beautiful, please could you give us a break down of this?
This tutorial is really good just like most of 52kards tuts, i started learning the charlier cut with my tiny hands(really small) i used full sized playing cards. took me an hour and a half to learn charlier flawlessly, realised the problem was not my tiny hands. so i stuck at it then moved onto something more advanced, hot shot cut, after spending twenty minutes in the awkward position you start in i got it within the hour, not perfectly but at least 7 times out of ten it was really good.this however ive been trying for 2 hours constantly and it is by far the hardest thing ive been trying to learn. i keep trying to blame my small hands but i know this is simply not correct. i think im not aligning the cards right as the weave is not happening. any tips from a pro?
You are awesome! I was just wondering, can you make your techniques work of normal set of decks? Or you need decks in which you have review? Please answer! I really want to learn your tricks. And also if you need decks which you have reviewed. Which for you is the best for a beginner?
You can do all of his techniques with any deck of cards. All of the decks are made of paper, and there is no difference except in the design. To start out with, I would recommend a pack of Bicycle Standard Playing Cards. :)
Well, I live overseas and i am now ordering a deck. And also i can do simple tricks like overhand shuffle, hindu, swivel, swing cut. But they are quite messy maybe due to my low quality deck. it seems that only the fan things is the only thing I cant do in this deck. But Thanks for the info ! Ill keep practicing!
I wanna know how to make that waterfall finish so dang smooth. Mine is SUPER clumpy and not nearly as pretty. Is there a video of that I could watch or something? My bridge is kinda ugly, so I would prefer to use the waterfall. any replies or response would be fantastic. thanks.
Your videos are great! I'm really getting into one handed things, such as cuts, this shuffle and fans. Do you know of any other cuts I could look up as well? Any thoughts would be appreciated :) keep up the great job!
Check out Chris Ramsey’s top shot thing. It aloes you to one handedly shoot a card out of the deck while doing one-handed cut. Video is titled: my go to magic trick ( I think)
Is some a special type of cards for general card tricks? The deck I have a crazy slippery, in the sense they flow almost like water and are literally impossible to control...
Oh hai there, my fellow TH-cam addicts. I'm using Bicycle Cards. I've gotten a lot better since I commented this haha. But still need a LOT more practice.
point the cards up a little bit, this should make the weave happen from the bottom up so it goes weave then the weave goes throughout the entire deck. the angel should just be very very slight, and it kind of slowly creates itself. hpope that helped :P
Is there a way to do a one-handed swing cut or something like that? I've been playing with a few ideas for it lately, but I can't seem to find the best way.
I finally fucking did it! It's not hard but you need to have a strong grip until you get the hang of it. It helps playing the cards up and down with one hand just to develop balance motor skills

sometimes when i do the bridge some cards on top just jump out, because its hard to get a good grip on the cards and there fairly new, so they have alot of spring so the jump out
hey asad,, one question about this move,, I'm ace at this,, but as you split the deck then weave the 2 packets together, what is this move called,, just the split packets then weaving it together,, is there a name for this
I just gotta ask some people, what is your dominant hand and what hand do you deal with? For me I think I may be doing things wrong because I'm right handed but feel more comfortable holding the deck in my right and and dealing with my left. I can comfortable do one handed cuts in my right hand but it's awkward in my left. Is that normal? (So 2 questions in total)
William Faulkner Do whatever feels comfortable. Its different for everyone, and I know magicians who are lefties, and hold the deck n their left hand. And there are people like TheRussianGenius who use both hand.
Alright, thanks. I think I'm just going to get comfortable holding the deck in my left and dealing with my right so that everything is consistent though.
Thanks a lot, i went and bought a new deck and it's way better! maybe a bit too good haha, i have trouble controlling them cause they are so slippery :s

Really useful tip: use a slightly worn/used deck it makes this much easier as the cards are less stiff and the bow on the cards also makes it simpler
I’m sure you could also massage the deck(bend it back and forth) to make it more, for lack of a better term, tender.
Pushing them together is fucking impossible.

you have to learn the faro shuffle first. it's only when you understand the faro from in depth that you'll be able to do it one handed
