I can only speak to the P3, which I enjoy for easy pace long runs up to about 14 miles. Anything more than that I have to stack up. Really looking forward to the upcoming Specter 2, a lightweight, non-plated speed shoe.
Yes, I am very interested in the Specter 2. I will be interested to see their stability with that much Pebax foam. I am sure they will feel great if they have enough stability.
@@MyFatAdaptedLife I m thinking the same about stability. Because I LOVE the Specter so far. Super for my uptempo runs. So I hope for not too much changes 🙈
Thanks for the detailed comparison between the Topo Spectre and Topo Phantom 3! It's great to hear your insights on their performance for different types of runs. I appreciate your thorough review! Keep those awesome reviews coming, Jay! 🏃♂
Howdy! Got myself the Phantom 3s, but I feel some downward pressure on the midfoot, right where the lacing begins, despite leaving it super loose. Is this typical with Topos or with the Phantom line? I never had this with any other shoe.
@@TheOldUltraRunner Have you tried their wide sizes, or noticed that other models such as the Atmos or Specter have more volume? Unfortunately I have to import them and can't return. I'm afraid of ordering wides in another model and it being way too loose, given the shoe is pretty roomy in the toebox and heel
The Magnifly 5 looks really nice! Really good option to the Altra Escalante. I have tried on the Via Olympus 2, it feels nice. I have friends and customers at the store that love them. For me personally, they just feel like a bit too much shoe.🤷
I have not gotten to try the new Atmos. It does look like a nice high cushioned shoe. The store I work at is not carrying it, so I haven't made a short either.
The phantom 3 looks a bit more accommodating in the forefoot. The specter looks a little narrow. My feet fit in the Cyclone 2’s so I’m thinking the Specters would work too
The Specter is pretty accommodating as well. The fabric on the upper is kind of floppy now so it doesn't look as tall in the pictures. I do have 300 miles on my pair. The Specter is a bit curved like the Cyclone 2.
The Specter 2 should be fun with an all Pebax midsole. The zero drop trail shoe "Pursuit" should come out with a newer softer foam. I am looking forward to the MT-5, which looks like it will be like there Ultra venture 3, but lower stack height. There max cushion shoe "Atmos" came out a couple of months ago and seems to be doing well.
Thanks for the review on these! Just wondering which has higher cushioning? I note you like the Specter for long runs and tempos. I like my long run shoes cushioned and tempo shoes more responsive 😅 looking for my next Topo long run shoe. Have only tried Phantom 2 so far and enjoyed it.
The Specter has a bit more cushion and a more rockered design. However, the Phantom 3 has thicker outsole rubber and will likely have better durability. Topo also sells the Atmos now that has even more cushion. However, I have not tried those.

Thank you, Mihai!
I also utilize the Specter for long runs and tempo workouts. I’m looking forward to the Specter 2. Thanks for the comparison.
Thank you for watching! I am excited about the Specter 2. I hope it will be stable enough.
I love this video
I lam a fan of Topo for trail and am thinking shoes for my first ultra marathon in April in Japan. Will check phantom.
Thank you for watching! Just curious, what is the name of the ultra marathon you are going to do?

I have not heard of that issue with Phantoms. Perhaps the extra arch support in Phantoms is pushing your foot up? I am not sure.

I don't think the Specter has any more volume from what I can tell. I have not gotten to try the Atmos or their with width shoes.
I’m looking forward to the Magnifly 5. Have you tried the Altra Via Olympus 2?

Nice and informative video. Thanks. Could you help me out in regard to the new Atmos? Is it a short somewhere in between this two?

Nice video. Which is a new Topo coming out soon? I took some pictures at the show but not much notes in regards to Topo. The Specter looks nice.

Which one feels softer?
I think the Phantom 3 feels softer
