"Even if I attack that pawn, they will defend it. What do I gain?" You expressed my habitual thought process exactly. It's linked, ironically, to a desire to avoid the beginner's tendency to one-move-itis.
I just can't say enough good things about your chess teaching. The fervor with which you put forward such 'obvious' examples to make sure it is cemented in our head is just great. I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos. Better yet, the lessons STAY with me because of how you present them. Keep it up, Dr. Can!
❤️ I may save your comment and show it to my grandchildren, if they are born one day. Thank you so very much! Please spread the word about this channel so I can continue focusing on teaching.
Awesome! I Just finished your course one fundamental chess calculation, and it is an eyeopener. Suddenly I speak to my pieces and am sad, when they are sad .... So much more fun than memorizing lines! Thank you and a very Happy year 2025!
Absolute gold! Brilliant lesson. Hopefully you can publish a course on practical endgames. Your endgame lessons actually look like positions that I am familiar with. The Fisher game was quite amazing. Thanks for your analysis on that game as it illuminates the thinking behind the moves. Incredibly classy game. Thanks again!
Quickly becoming my go to for instructions. It doesn't have cleavage and F Bombs from baddies but instead provides the bare bones skeletal patterns needed to win. This channel deserves a much bigger following but I also don't want the secret weapons to get out either
Jim, this feedback is so motivating. Thank you. Producing BS content with F Bombs is the easy way. But sharing this channel with your friends would definitely allow me to produce more of this content.
Thanks so much! Im 1800 and these concepts have never been explained to me in such a simple and beautiful way. Working through your 3 ply calculation course i can tell its going to improve my game more than anything else :)
Your enthusiasm motivates me. This wonderful game can drive me crazy sometimes but I watch your videos and makes me want to try harder. Your courses are exceptional on Chessable. I wish I had all day to study them. Thank you so much for your stellar work and making this game more enjoyable!
Happy New Year Sir! gr8 instructive video...more such content on pattern recognition in the endgame will be really helpful as u r a gr8 teacher...thank u
Your words are very motivating. I am doing my best to increase the learning outcomes. The same goes for my courses. Thanks for leaving a comment, sharing and interacting!
top quality material as always! I really need to start being structured about my study -- running out of excuses because the material available is amazing
Thank you so much! You can have a look at my training plan if your need more structure: www.chess.com/article/view/cm-can-kabadayis-intermediate-advanced-study-guide-1400-1800-elo
Fantastic insight as usual. I've got my first OTB tournament coming up and it's information like that that's going to be invaluable. Thanks for sharing,
Dr. Can. Another fantastic video! I know that I'm going to be re-watching this video a few times this weekend. I sincerely hope that I have an opportunity to apply these principles! Thank you! Josh Flores of Los Angeles.
With every video, you prove that you are a great teacher of the royal game of kings 👑 You have a way of verbalizing the critical aspects of each position. Teaching us to ask the right questions and WHY !! Happy New Year Dr. Can 🎉
Great lesson once again. Im watching your endgame video's on repeat and try to apply them in my games. I never was big on learning openings, even though it can be anoyying if people know them blind. Its greatly satisfying to win these positions and your opponent thinks they mysteriously lost equal endgames eg Ruy lopez exchange 3 vs 4 pawn situation
@Dr.CansClinic great advice. Practicing and internalize creating these weaknesses, tying pieces down using the passed pawn etc vs the engine. Thank you for your time and passion for the game
Last year I drilled endgames. This year starting next Sunday, I 'll try to put the knowledge into praxis by playing. This video is very helpful in this attempt. It kind of rounds up the themes that are scattered around different courses and crystallizes them into perceivable form.
Amazing feedback, and such great new year resolution from your side! Please keep on updating me on. your future progress as you implement this training plan!
If ever I get seriously hurt in an endgame accident I wish to be administered to the Clinic where Dr Chess resides 😊. No secret I’m one of Dr Chess biggest fans.
I must have seen some of the patterns before. Numbers 1 through 6 I instantly got. It was instinctive and with no calculation. I just blunder checked a bit because my coach told me I should. Number 7 I got wrong. I did not have the pattern internalized. Which means I should have calculated better. Number 8, I did not have until you showed me. Internalizing patterns I think is the key to how high level players think. Coach, thanks for the great video.
Dan, it is great that 1-6 were automatized! Pattern 7 is about the art of awakening pieces. You can revisit the chapter "Undermining Squares" to internalize it.
Happy New Year, Dr Can. Hope you had a good trip. In the final example. the Black Bishop was stuck tragically, as well as the Rooks. But it goes to show that even with such a dominating position, there was a lot of work to do before winning.
Hello Can, excellent lesson 🎉🎉🎉 I indeed own the whole "art of" courses. I have one question: do you take these patterns from the book "100 endgame patterns you must know"?
Thank you so much! Really appreciate you also own the art of series. I am considering creating a workbook for it! No, I don't take those from that book, although I am sure they are included there.
Wasnt gonna leave a comment but everyone os showing all the love so why not, I gained like 200 elo in blitz rating and just hit 1700 and it partially cause of these amazing videos you keep uploading so thank you so much brother much love ❤❤
❤️ I am so humbled to hear it. Thank you for leaving this comment. I would really appreciate if you shared your progress elsehwhere so I can continue producing such videos.
Let's Start ♟ I recently played a game with ( White pieces ) 2 pawns Left that was a complete dead Lost position still able to make the checkmate pattern. Endgames are very important as sharp tactical battles occur in middle game .. We need to understand the deep calculations of ( Middle Game ) and Master the ( End Games ) .. it seems like we about to win a game but left with passive attacking pieces doing nothing .. Q. How to make enemy pieces destroy themselves and while we are attacking and gaining strong positions as game approaches towards End Game ? Time Management and Strong positional Moves make huge difference .. Q. How to convert a lost match into Winning match ? Also Q. How to get rid of passive Bad pawns burying down our attacking pieces ?
"Even if I attack that pawn, they will defend it. What do I gain?" You expressed my habitual thought process exactly. It's linked, ironically, to a desire to avoid the beginner's tendency to one-move-itis.
I am really glad that I saw you there :) Thanks for your honesty!

Extremely kind of you. Thank you so much. I geninuinely wrote it to be able to help my own students too🤓

This is a fruitful lesson, which is very much appreciated. I will watch this lesson again. Is this a subset of o e of your Chessable courses?
Thank you so much, Al! I may turn those into a course in the future, who knows? :)
Please do!@@Dr.CansClinic

More high quality stuff. I was thinking I might bookmark this for review, even make a lichess study. Thanks.
Thank you so much! This is a good one to be revisited later. All important and recurrent patterns are good for that.
Dr. Can. Another fantastic video! I know that I'm going to be re-watching this video a few times this weekend. I sincerely hope that I have an opportunity to apply these principles! Thank you! Josh Flores of Los Angeles.

Amazing to hear this, thank you! You can even take some of those positions and play against an engine from those.

Chunk training!
Absolutely!
There needs to be t-shirts with this slogan so people can ask, "What the heck is chunk training?", and then we can tell them!
