      @ we love Castelbuono! I fondly remember arriving in town and seeing the raccolta della spazzatura on muleback! A truly cultural experience! 🥰

      @ We don’t like to share online our town, we are pretty quiet that way, but not far down the 113. If you are near Motta, probably less than an hour. We would be happy to be in touch!

    Welcome to Sicily ,I Canadian born and raised , have been living here for almost 39 years , Im not to far, barcelona P.g , We own a tile/bathroom store. Do you live here all year round? I love Cefalu ,its so pretty. It would be great to meetup sometime tfs

    Buildings were closed off because they dudn't have heating system and windows were heat dispersion and the opposite in summer thick walls and smaller windows could keep rooms cooler being in the shade

      @@suzyq555 Good question. We are 1.5 hours from Mt. Etna. Interestingly, on a very clear night we can see the fire coming out of Stromboli. 😃

    Hi, did it cost a lot to demolish and rebuild the walls as you like? Were projects and bureaucratic permits from the municipality needed?

      @@MrNoncredo Good question! Here in S. Italy it’s not how closely you follow the letter of the law, but who you know. We had an Architect who had in the local Comune. Not once did we have an Inspector on the property. The Architect assured them that everything was done properly and they bought it. Also, yes, masonry walls cost more to erect than the typical frame walls seen in America.

      @@MrNoncredoNo no. Abbiamo acquistato permessi per tutto, ma l’architetto conosceva tutti al Comune e ha gestito tutto al cantiere se stesso. A proposito, il nostro Comune e dí solo 650 persone in totale. 😂

      We don’t know all of the current laws, but when we bought 4 years ago we were non-EU buyers and the tax rate was favorable. Now we hear about a new initiative in Spain that is through the roof. Italy has not followed that….yet. 🤷🏽‍♂️
