what really frustrates me about this mission is how Ikrie will re-freeze one of the stupid tramplers after you have blown off its udder, which saves it from burning to death and leaves you no way of completing the mission w/ your remaining ammo. You have to try seriously hard to herd them away from her stupid ass after you set them on fire, or she will just ruin the whole thing for you.

I did get it on my second try thanks to your tactics of how you used the diff types of arrows, and I had a few less misses (last time I hit the tramplers huge horns one too many times instead of their bellies). I did try to use the logs on the bellowback for the fun of it even though I didn’t need them because I had plenty of arrows, but I missed both times with that because I let them loose a little too late. Ha, oh well. :) Your video still helped out a ton!

@@GabZeroPlays hey dude, I'm a bit late in this but after watching your video I think the minimal amount of arrows to complete this challenge is 18. Hear me out: Scrapers: 12 Hardpoint (3 each) Grazers: 3 Fire Tramplers: 2 Regular (1 log for each) Bellowback: 1 Regular (final log pile for it)
Just a quick note: I save the hardpoints in case the logs does not kill the Bellowbeck at the end. This is a small risk, but it exists. Still, the machine will be weak so you just patiently lure it again to be frozen and finish it with the hardpoints, aiming for the sacks for better damage.
Just used this strategy. Really worked well. Ikrie did put out the fire on the one trampler, so I just led it over to one of the other log piles and took it out. I finished with arrows to spare! Thanks for the vid!!!!
I really surprise that he kill fire bellowback with 1 arrow lol for me I just use only arrow and ran out of it. damn I really frustrates never notice those logs and never see the logs useful before lol
This video definitely helped. I was using normal arrows on the Scrappers, and didn't realize the tramples stayed burning (if Ikrie stops shooting them that is). Took a couple more tries but got it. Thanks!
You have to let the Scrappers get frozen, then hit them with two HardP Arrows on their radar and that’s done. The single fire arrow does work for the grazers, next you have to bring one trampler to one side and destroy the processing unit, the fire will last long enough to kill it, just lead it away from Ikrie. Then you should have enough arrows to kill the Fire BellowBack.
Your clue of using the log batches, unleashing them as the bellow back crosses under them saved my whole life lol. I was down to 3 arrows and a fully armoured, unblemished blowback, was down to 1 logpile trap left, stood under it, let him hit me, shot the loftrap and it landed all over the machine to death. Earned me one of the remaining 2 trophies needed to platinum the whole game at ultra hard ng+ 100%!!! Thank u for saving me alot of cursing and being mad at my controller hahahahaha
Thanks a lot for the guide. I used it for my try and I got it first try in ultra hard. It didn't go as smoothly as yours did though, sadly the bellowback charged from under the trap and I had to kill it conventionally but your method left me with enough arrows to do so!

Yeah on UH they are really resistant! That's why I saved them for the Bellowback. There is another set of logs just in case you fail with the first but it is a little far away from Ikrie
The logs... I did this thing perfectly but still I wasn't able to defeat the Bellowback with the arrows left over. I was about to optimize the ammo consumption on the Scrappers and Tramplers mixing hardpoint and normal arrows in order not to overshoot but for the life of me I wouldn't have found the log pile. Thank you!

Still took about ten tries to get it done but only because of the Tramplers... It seemed to me that something changed about Ikries range. A week or two back when I did the challenge first, she only shot machines on the rock formation in front of her, making it easy to prevent the Tramplers from getting frozen again. Now she also hit them, when behind her and even almost to the point where the Grazers spawn. But the logs worked well, even though I needed all available piles. So thanks again! :-)
Really? I should take a look at the challenge again then. If I remember well, she did not shot on tramplers on fire, but if the other one was too close then the explosion range of the frost bomb would get both. I'm happy I helped with the logs! You're welcome!
Ended up cheesing it with logs, and had 1 fire arrow left 3 hard point and 7 Hunter Arrows, a bit of a challenge for me as a pc gamer on console, never been a fan of controllers since i got into PC gaming. Just practicing so i am ready for Horizon Forbidden West so finally got around to doing ultra hard on console and a 100% game at that so talk about jumping into the deep end, looking forward to more content with Forbidden West from content creators helps out us noobs a lot.

THE LOGS, I didn't see the logs before and the closet I got on winning was when I painstakingly had the scrappers hurt each other so I can reserve arrows.

I spend a half hour trying to finish this task and did it my first time after I saw there are FOUR log traps in the area! Two are near each other on the cliff side, another one on the other end of the cliff and finally one more at the edge of the snow! It makes the last three machines MUCH EASIER to beat!
I can’t seem to kill the scrappers in the first three shots and it’s fustrating haha maybe I’m not shooting them fast enough, or if I’m not holding the draw long enough 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨
This trial exemplifies all the worst aspect of the bow play in this game. The scrappers at the start are the machines I loathe the most in this game even after slogging through the Stormbird and Thunderjaw. They attach so fast with so little wind up and the slash lasts so long that you need to ensure you're no where close to when they attack and then you have four of them. To make matters worse, you need to rely on an NPC who seems hell bent on attacking only the ones farthest away from you with her ice projectiles and that's assuming she doesn't hit the platform she's standing on. Then you have the bow, the arrows do not fly straight if you're strafing or moving. You have to be perfectly still to them and even then there's a good chance you're going to miss because unless you're right up against the thing, there's no hope in hell of reliably striking one of the parts of the scrappers as the other three will ab attacking you in order so it's very easy to get struck by the second and third as you're dodging the first one. It is unimaginably frustrating.
An this saved my ass, I was on my first try, but by the time I got to the last one left I only had 4 regular arrows…. Didn’t know about one of those log piles and won with 1 arrow left 😂 won my first try…. With a last minute assist from TH-cam/you haha thanks!

@@GabZeroPlays, I passed that challenge too but I just didn't realise about the logs, I thought I had to kill them with the arrows like Ikrie said so I just focused on that so I could never kill the Bellowback, also I wasted lots of them in the Scrappers cos I didn't know they could be killed so easily

i though it is impossible, i even managed to save enough arrows to destroy both weak parts on the bellowback but it was not enough to kill him. I had no idea there are logs.
Yes, I believe that this trial is to test how you can use not only the arrows available, but also your surroundings. You can notice that there are lots of logs around the world of HZD as well, you can always use it in smart ways. Happy hunting!
ok so heres my problem, triple arrow shot for me, for some reason, only does between 170-180 against the radar while frozen on UH, so how does everyone else on every video tutorial i watch get an instalkill instead?
What the heck is up with the 200+ damage? When I shoot the gun part on the back of a frozen scrapper, with 3 fully charged, hardpoint arrows, they deal only 95 damage. What am I missing here?
It is not exactly the back you have to shot, but their radar. It is one of the weak spots. If I remember well, you can't even use your own bow for this challenge so this is not boosted with mods.
@@GabZeroPlays yeah, I know. I managed to do it eventually, one attempt it just magically did 200 damage on all 4 scrappers instead of 90 by shooting the radar like usually. I was probably just doing something wrong, I just have no idea what since I was aiming at the radar all along to begin with. Anyway, thanks for the reply.
OK, how did you get that Bellowback to stand still long enough for the logs to do enough damage? Because he ain't staying still for me and I'm playing on the same difficulty. I was able to do this on Normal difficulty without too much trouble.
In the video the Bellowback stopped to attack me, however I shot the logs before it was in position to compensate. You can try it, staying a little bit closer to it so when it start to attack, you shot the logs. If you need more logs there is another set on the back of the map.
How tf are you 1-shotting the scrappers?? Even with hard point arrows on a fully frozen scrapper aimed at the weak point (same exact as you) I'm not fully killing them
Can you use the spear for the challenge? I found the best way to kill scrappers on UH is just using death from above (jumping from a small rock and then pressing R1 midair usually works). Instakill, no ammo use and relatively quick.
I had no idea there was a trap there. Was hitting every shot, every weakpoint and still ran out with bellowback limping with both weakpoints destroyed. Goddamnit. EDIT: Just managed to do it with like 40 arrows left next try. Even managed to kill the two Tramplers with the other trap.
Hey there! I'm using the skill that allows me to shoot 3 arrows at once. You can see that I load the 3 arrows before I shoot, this way it is triple the damage!

damn i didnt expect this challenge to be more annoying than the other trials even the chieftain one. in the end its this and the stormslinger trial thats giving me the most trouble lol.
Freezing it will garantee that every log does the maximum damage! However, I have never tried it without freezing it first. Depending on the difficulty you're playing, it might still work!
Okay I know that I am very late coming to this but I'm now replaying this game and got to this part and I'm having struggles with The scrappers how can you kill them in one hit I'm still doing the three and one turn but all I was doing is a stripping them of that part and not killing them just leaving them weak
Are you shooting the 3 hardpoint arrows at the same time at the Scrapper's radar, only after they are frozen? It is super important that they are frozen so the damage is multiplied.
Really? I have to play the game again, I started a new save file but it's not NG+, I'll check it out if I remember. Did you make sure they are frozen before you shot the arrows?
@@GabZeroPlays Yeh. But there were some that did die on a 3 hit. It might be that they need to have some tick dmg from frozen before using a full draw. Also I didn't realize I had other types of arrows she gave me, so there was that I needed to learn. I eventually passed it, but oh man was that a pain if you don't do everything just right. Indeed this is a problem. You should lure the trampler away from her as soon as the belly explodes.
On fresh new game VH lvl 34, usually 5-6 times full drawn hard point shots(*1) on belly(frozen), it will go off.
yep that's such a game breaker, also the fact that she keeps boasting "I don't miss" really pisses me off
especially when I have been trying to finish the last few scrappers and she keeps missing...
no wonder mailin leaves her, fucking idiot

There’s even a second logpile that can be used in this challenge. :) Handy for killing a couple scrappers in one go.

First Hunting trial tells you about the logs
There are 4 sets of logs, check the area - may help to kill other machines too beside the Bellowback. Happy hunting.

They need to be fully frozen and you have to shoot the battery on their backs. It's a weak spot!

They're actually three. There's one on the Left side from where you start on normal lodge trials if you just drop down instead of taking the zipline

@@GabZeroPlays, I passed that challenge too but I just didn't realise about the logs, I thought I had to kill them with the arrows like Ikrie said so I just focused on that so I could never kill the Bellowback, also I wasted lots of them in the Scrappers cos I didn't know they could be killed so easily

i though it is impossible, i even managed to save enough arrows to destroy both weak parts on the bellowback but it was not enough to kill him. I had no idea there are logs.
Yes, I believe that this trial is to test how you can use not only the arrows available, but also your surroundings. You can notice that there are lots of logs around the world of HZD as well, you can always use it in smart ways.

I had to try the normal one 5 times to figure out a pattern - I never saw the logpile traps.
now I know where I went wrong. I was shooting the antlers and the eyes. Never did the middle area on the trampler with the basic arrows
ok so heres my problem, triple arrow shot for me, for some reason, only does between 170-180 against the radar while frozen on UH, so how does everyone else on every video tutorial i watch get an instalkill instead?
Are you using the Hardpoint Arrows for this? You also have to fully draw the bow so all the 3 arrows hit the same spot

What the heck is up with the 200+ damage? When I shoot the gun part on the back of a frozen scrapper, with 3 fully charged, hardpoint arrows, they deal only 95 damage. What am I missing here?
It is not exactly the back you have to shot, but their radar. It is one of the weak spots. If I remember well, you can't even use your own bow for this challenge so this is not boosted with mods.
@@GabZeroPlays yeah, I know. I managed to do it eventually, one attempt it just magically did 200 damage on all 4 scrappers instead of 90 by shooting the radar like usually. I was probably just doing something wrong, I just have no idea what since I was aiming at the radar all along to begin with. Anyway, thanks for the reply.
@@chaka3781 Ohh, grats! Maybe you weren't holding the trigger long enough? Otherwise the arrow will not have full strength and may miss the target.

How is your hunter bow doing so much damage? You one shot that first scrapper with a hard point.. all I do is 45 damage on that same body part.
You have to use the Triple Shot skill, where you load 3 arrows at once. And of course, the scrapper should be totally frozen for maximum damage.

OK, how did you get that Bellowback to stand still long enough for the logs to do enough damage? Because he ain't staying still for me and I'm playing on the same difficulty. I was able to do this on Normal difficulty without too much trouble.
In the video the Bellowback stopped to attack me, however I shot the logs before it was in position to compensate. You can try it, staying a little bit closer to it so when it start to attack, you shot the logs. If you need more logs there is another set on the back of the map.

How tf are you 1-shotting the scrappers?? Even with hard point arrows on a fully frozen scrapper aimed at the weak point (same exact as you) I'm not fully killing them

I don't get it, on your play it takes 3 hard point arrows for each scrapper, but on mine it takes atleast 5
Can you use the spear for the challenge? I found the best way to kill scrappers on UH is just using death from above (jumping from a small rock and then pressing R1 midair usually works). Instakill, no ammo use and relatively quick.
Just tried it, you can't use the spear, only a limited number of hunter, hardpoint and fire arrows.
This is an arrow conservation challenge you only get 5 fire arrows, 30 normal arrows and 25 hard point arrows while using an un-modded bow, no spear.
Is this in a PS4? It happens in a such perfectly well scripted way that I just never saw before while playing.

I had no idea there was a trap there. Was hitting every shot, every weakpoint and still ran out with bellowback limping with both weakpoints destroyed. Goddamnit.
EDIT: Just managed to do it with like 40 arrows left next try. Even managed to kill the two Tramplers with the other trap.

Hey there! I'm using the skill that allows me to shoot 3 arrows at once. You can see that I load the 3 arrows before I shoot, this way it is triple the damage!

Do you have to freeze the bellowback before you hit it with the logs? Or can it just be normal?
Freezing it will garantee that every log does the maximum damage! However, I have never tried it without freezing it first. Depending on the difficulty you're playing, it might still work!

Okay I know that I am very late coming to this but I'm now replaying this game and got to this part and I'm having struggles with The scrappers how can you kill them in one hit I'm still doing the three and one turn but all I was doing is a stripping them of that part and not killing them just leaving them weak
Are you shooting the 3 hardpoint arrows at the same time at the Scrapper's radar, only after they are frozen? It is super important that they are frozen so the damage is multiplied.
Lol i did the other way around. I used the logs to the trampler and use all the arrows in fire bellowback. I think this strat is a lot easier.

Sucks... they must've made NG+UH harder, scrappers don't die with a 3 arrow hit to the scanner now.
Really? I have to play the game again, I started a new save file but it's not NG+, I'll check it out if I remember. Did you make sure they are frozen before you shot the arrows?
@@GabZeroPlays Yeh. But there were some that did die on a 3 hit. It might be that they need to have some tick dmg from frozen before using a full draw.
Also I didn't realize I had other types of arrows she gave me, so there was that I needed to learn.
I eventually passed it, but oh man was that a pain if you don't do everything just right.

It is actually 3 arrows, using the Triple Shot skill on the skill tree.
