UNDERSCORE_ Me too, for when Russia takes over the United States and puts us all in internment camps. Cyka Blyat Vodka Stalin rush B Mockba privet. I'm pretty sure that's how you beg for mercy in Russian.
Don't forget X is H, X with a line in the middle is ZH, the partially open B is B, backwards R is YA, and the 3 or so remaining characters that defy English conventions
Also 3 is 'Z', at first I thought you meant that ;D F is hilarious though, and there's also difference between 'E' (weird backwards E) nd 'YE' (E), there's 'YO' (E with umlaut?...) and YU (that's... uh...), lol One would think that at this point NL and Sin would at least look up cyrilic once to know how to read the city names. Russia is huge but empty so there's often some big cities far away on signs, like that Vladivostok.
I am so glad you recognised Vladivostok. It seems like you're beginning to learn how to transliterate Cyrillic, and once you do it gives you a significant advantage going forward. Bravo NL, bravo.
15:00 The middle city on the sign, one that's 140km away is called Bikin. Just thought I'd let you know. Also, distance between Moscow and St. Petersburg is roughly 700km,, you can use it for scaling.
ooo, who could've guessed, NL put the smallest effort to read informative signs on a russian guess instead of dismissing it because of 'lol cyrillic' and instantly gets a lot of points
Moscow, Vladivostok and Murmansk are also the Russian locations I can identify reliably. There are plenty of other Russian cities that I could pinpoint at the drop of a hat on a map in English -- but I instantly identify those words in Russian.
It was perfectly possible to miss the Vladivostok sign and only see the one that lists smaller cities. Even if you take the time to piece together the romanization you've got a lot of ground to cover unless you're familiar with russian geography. Vladivostok shows up one zoom level higher than the largest city on the other sign, Khabarovsk, and at that level even if you aren't familiar with vladivostok you've only got 10s of cities to sift through. If you only saw Khabarovsk you've got 100s.
I-69 goes from Detroit to the Mexican border in Texas. A good amount of the southern bits are not built yet though. I lived near it in Indiana for a bit, one of the few places where they have to put locks and fences around the highway signs to stop people from stealing them.
NL this will help you so much with interstate signs. if it ends with 5 it generally runs north-south. like I-5 up the West coast. if it ends in 0 it runs east-west. if it's a different number like 44 or 39 it's diagonal.
When I'm playing Geoguessr I'll also rate all American guesses 1* Sinvicta, the states are literally indistinguishable from each other to non-american people anyways
Not really. If you play a lot and watched this whole series then you learn a lot about american guesses. I'm nowhere near the US but I can get fairly good guesses consistently thanks to NL and Sinny V!
Just remember; if there are mountains, it is highly likely you are out west. Kind of rare to get a guess out east with a state with mountains (Tennessee, West Virginia, etc).
On the Quebec guess, I said "there's too much English for this to be Quebec or France... this looks like a place where everyone speaks English, but everything is named in French", so I guessed fuckin' Louisiana. But that last Russian guess? Saw Khabarovsk (in Russian, of course), and immediately knew I recognized that city, and that it was a big one. Went and found in like a fuckin' champ.
NL should be more like Sinvicta and MALF, and butter us up rather than oppose us. We're basically only reactive in terms of strategy, which greatly limits our chances at victory. Choosing to collude with another player is the most proactive move we can make, so it'd be wise for the other players to think of us an ally rather than opponent, and strategize on how to win our favor.
Them giving 1stars to russian guesses, yet here I am wondering how is it any different from USA. In both you land on empty highways. The end. Literally.
Mateusz Russian guesses rarely have a lot of information, there's not much of an opportunity to figure out even *what side* of Russia you're on. Meanwhile, America has a lot of signage that includes state names, and has very clearly different climate regions that show up in Geoguessr which make it easier to guess the general area of a location. The same can be done with a lot of countries, you can guess from language, geography, buildings and signage where you might be.
MrAwesomeTrex In other words you look for signs with the names of cities. "and has very clearly different climate regions that show up in Geoguessr" that's the same as saying: look at the terrain, trees, weather, roads condition, etc. in a russian guess. For me both Russia and USA (when it comes to isolated highway guesses) look the same. It's just empty and blank.
That Vladivostok guess was clutch! You guys should really consider learning to read cryillic just for Geoguessr. Its not that complicated to be honest.
I thought I did pretty well on the challenge, especially being an American and getting decent on the Canadian and Sweden guess (and the Nebraska one I nearly had 5,000) but holy when I saw NL's score, he crushed it! Edit: He still rates petty as hell though. How was that Nebraska less than the semi-lucky Russia guess
"You came third!" And you came last, Ryan, and we intentionally threw the game. You fail to understand that at this point, chat's goal isn't to win Monsters Seeking Monsters, but just to ensure you lose. lionSalt
Yo, NL fucking ROCKED those Russian guesses
That Vladivostok play was actually clutch as fuck.
The egg is practically fluent in Russian
I was so proud when he said "Vladivostok" correctly at the end. I wasn't sure if he was memeing or not every time he said "Mockba"
UNDERSCORE_ Me too, for when Russia takes over the United States and puts us all in internment camps. Cyka Blyat Vodka Stalin rush B Mockba privet. I'm pretty sure that's how you beg for mercy in Russian.
Reading cyrillic becomes pretty easy when you realize that C is S, B is V, and the "backwards N" is I.
Don't forget X is H, X with a line in the middle is ZH, the partially open B is B, backwards R is YA, and the 3 or so remaining characters that defy English conventions

Ryan is an *actual* wizard.
Damn, Sinny V is so salty in this one, while NL is laughing all the way to the bank with ~5k Russian guesses.
23300 points, goddamn
I love how in the first Russian guess Robotnik actually spent some time looking for "P6IHok", which is actually "Rynok", which means "market"
I am so glad you recognised Vladivostok. It seems like you're beginning to learn how to transliterate Cyrillic, and once you do it gives you a significant advantage going forward. Bravo NL, bravo.
15:01 HE'S LEARNING
Welcome back to "Northernlion is a KGB agent and knows everywhere in Russia"
That Russian guess was 10/10
Can we talk about how Malf actually beat Sinvicta at GeoGuessr.
15:00 The middle city on the sign, one that's 140km away is called Bikin. Just thought I'd let you know.
Also, distance between Moscow and St. Petersburg is roughly 700km,, you can use it for scaling.
The length of Germany is pretty much exactly 900 km, which could come in handy as well
It's so nice to stumble upon this series while I wait for the current GeoGuessr episodes :)
ooo, who could've guessed, NL put the smallest effort to read informative signs on a russian guess instead of dismissing it because of 'lol cyrillic' and instantly gets a lot of points
Russia guesses are usually not that bad.
This is my favorite episode EVER. NL, you are amazing.
OUR BOI MALFY IS ASCENDING THE RANKS!
>Swedish guess
>Quotes Ace of Base
I love the egg.
Good job spotting Vladivostok on the map, NL.
This kind of ridiculous deduction is what makes these series so great
Can tell Malf was concentrating hard in this one, because he almost never talks.
Honestly, watching Northernlion playing Geoguessr, was a big factor why I learned to read Cyrillic.
all russian viewers

Хрен там, глянь его KSP или BOI, то, что он выучил в одном эпизоде он забудет в следующем.
Horseradish, look at his KSP or BOI, what he learned in one episode he will forget in the next.
Thanks Google translate
NL, you totally redeemed yourself after that Finnish guess. Good fucking job.
It's "Moskva", Ryan.
14:08 Our favourite Egg advertising vapes.
actual legend
This is my fave seriessss
Moscow, Vladivostok and Murmansk are also the Russian locations I can identify reliably. There are plenty of other Russian cities that I could pinpoint at the drop of a hat on a map in English -- but I instantly identify those words in Russian.
yeah I can usually do Irkutsk and a few others too, Russia's doable if you get a sign with a far away city on it and know the main big cities
r/iamverysmart
Cool

they have remax literally everywhere that there's real estate. its presence tells you nothing.
Malf is the best Geoguessr playr
He's done it.
He made a Russian guess.
There was a sign for xop straight away on the third guess
That Ace Ventura reference by MALF tho
I-69 goes from Detroit to the Mexican border in Texas. A good amount of the southern bits are not built yet though. I lived near it in Indiana for a bit, one of the few places where they have to put locks and fences around the highway signs to stop people from stealing them.
THE GOD RUSSIA GUESSES!
NL has trancended
14:10 NL is the man on this billboard
I thought it was Pitbull

NL slayed this round.
Pochinki comment slayed me.

nah, coastal states are distinguishable enough, interior deserves far worse than a 0* tho
JanickGers0 It was a joke based on how FREAKING RACIST sinvicta is regarding russia
Just remember; if there are mountains, it is highly likely you are out west. Kind of rare to get a guess out east with a state with mountains (Tennessee, West Virginia, etc).
All North America is a 1* for me, just to even out NL's and Sinvicta's bullshit.
I found the Vladivostok sign, crubbed the map for 3 minutes and found it. Now that is some serious scrubbing.
On the Quebec guess, I said "there's too much English for this to be Quebec or France... this looks like a place where everyone speaks English, but everything is named in French", so I guessed fuckin' Louisiana. well done, now have a booblick

Goddamn that Vladivostok guess, good job NL
I know this vids a year old, but holy shit I love malfs dialogue
At this point chat has made it their personal mission to ensure nl never wins a round of monster.
I'm with them 100%
Mr Richards NORTHERNCHEATER

Mr Richards Too late, Ryab already won a round on the Oct. 18 NLSS
NL will always fail monster time board game due to his unfaithfulness to the almighty amalgamation of minds known as "chat"
NL is like "i send chat 4 messages once while they got 20 messages total so I'm mad at them for not picking me"
We did it boys

The first one was like 150km from my hometown!
More Hand of fate! can't wait :)
Nebraska is the most distinguishable interior state
The white ones in the russian sign said something centre, for sure wasnt city, cities were the blue ones
As a Russian viewer, I'm proud of my dude.
1:30 Is NLs mind suppressing that civ game they played? Must be rough.
SINNY V
NL dominated. My hero.
Drummondville Canadia that's me baby!
Blaine Drummond tu viens de Drummondville? J’aime bien cette ville la, surtout le Poutine de Roy Jucep
Not Makva but Moskva
Broke 20K on one of them today without moving at all. Was so proud haha. Those ones seem way harder though.
Lets go
I thought I did pretty well on the challenge, especially being an American and getting decent on the Canadian and Sweden guess (and the Nebraska one I nearly had 5,000) but holy when I saw NL's score, he crushed it!

Does malf live in Saskatchewan
Use to.

Also we tied for second, we didn't come in third.
Slurms McKenzie I mean, second is still pretty damn good when you can't make messages or choose who to send them to.
That just seems really spiteful for no reason.
Call me a nerd? Unsub. Bye.
Stop playing NA+Russia only andplay EU only pls, this is getting ridiculous
