I just thought about something! Mapleshade set out to kill every single cat in the blood line of Appledusk right? Well she ended up killing Darkstar, Appledusk...skip ahead a few years killed everyone related to Appledusk, then have Shellheart have kittens with Rainflower (Oakheart and Crookedstar). Oakheart and Bluestar have kits. Then die. (Stonefur and Mistystar). Crookedstar has kits with Willowbreeze and two of three die. Then they die. (Silverstream) Silverstream has children with Graystripe, then dies. (Feathertail and Stormfur). Feathertail dies without kits. Stormfur finds Brook in the mountains and they have kits. (Pine and Lark). They have an unknown status. (Could still be alive) Oh! And Mistystar and kits, most of them died except one, also, he is deputy of RiverClan. (Reedwhisker). So I have a theory. Since Stormfur, Pine, Brook, and Lark live in the mountains, Mapleshade couldn't track them down and kill them off. And after the Great Battle, Mistystar and Reedwhisker are still alive, along with Graystripe, and I think Mapleshade has given up, or, she is waiting for the right moment.
Or mapleshade tried for them, but they rejected them, because we don’t get a perspective on them very much at all, expect mistystars novella, and graystripe like manga or some crap like that. So she easily could’ve tried to trick them but they resisted and didn’t follow her? Just a possibility, or she doesn’t think they would be good for her to come for, and she also faded away I believe in the battle of the last hope, I think, because Spottedleaf saves sandstorm by diving in front of her just before mapleshade attacks her so I don’t know but mapleshade may of died again
spoilers for river‼ well now mistystar, reedwhisker, and graystripe are dead, and we don't know about stormfur, pine, brook and lark, so mapleshade might've succeeded, since we aren't sure what killed mistystar and reedwhisker

Tbf, they brought him back and he didn't chicken out. He killed like 5 ppl, hurts/throws/whatever's squirrelflight, possessed bramblestar, and completely cut off starclan from the clans as well as controlling the dark forest. Not a chicken no more lol

I love her too much for words and despite her being ripped to SHREADS, Marshmallowtail still loves her because he loved her personality and thats so cute to me. I love how wise she is and how she really did learn to trust in her clans decisions, the accident didn't just happen and then get brushed over, she learned from it because it had horrible consequences and thats how it SHOULD work.

I felt the same way about Breezepelt in Crowfeathers trial. I liked the book overall but Breezepelts sudden change made no sense, especially since the great battle wasn't even that long ago considering how they discuss it in the book.

I think that Ashfur being an accomplice to Hawkfrost's murder of Firestar when he didn't go through with the murder was 100% intentional and planned. I'm positive that he purposefully "chickened out" because he knew what was going to happen and wanted to show the clan, especially Squirrelflight, that Brambleclaw had murdered Firestar. Course this didn't happen but I'm positive that that was his plan.

A well overlooked thing of Mapleshade that I will scream to the heavens about on my deathbed is how twisted her mind is throughout the book. The death of her kits was her fault 100%, she lied about their father to win favour in her clan and then she took the kits out of camp when even the kits knew they were too young to leave yet. She left because she wanted to take them to the river and (absolutely no doubt in my mind) to meet Appledusk, to get a chance meeting. Because she was so selfishly in love she took kits from camp and she was caught for it. Even throughout the book she doesn't admit fault and actively twists her mind to put the blame onto others, while still being in love with Appledusk. Even as she makes the plans to kill him, she still screams to Reedshine "Appledusk is mine!" and she tries to kill Reedshine, a fact a lot of people leave out of the MAPs and retellings because it doesn't make her seem cool. There was no way she was ever going to kill Appledusk on purpose. But no, we'll ignore all these things and make her into a badass she-cat with nothing to lose who takes revenge on her ex-lover because that's cooler. The fandom has all decided to just ignore what Mapleshade's actual story and issues are to instead make her a victim turned villain which is not what she was at all. She was always a villain, just a selfish one. I think Mapleshade's actual story and issues are really cool. At the end of the book she even sees the Dark Forest as a sort of reward for cats like her, who showed "strength" and fought their way to get in. These are interesting points. It's the fandom's built up idea of Mapleshade that is so overused and overrated.

I just thought about something! Mapleshade set out to kill every single cat in the blood line of Appledusk right? Well she ended up killing Darkstar, Appledusk...skip ahead a few years killed everyone related to Appledusk, then have Shellheart have kittens with Rainflower (Oakheart and Crookedstar). Oakheart and Bluestar have kits. Then die. (Stonefur and Mistystar). Crookedstar has kits with Willowbreeze and two of three die. Then they die. (Silverstream) Silverstream has children with Graystripe, then dies. (Feathertail and Stormfur). Feathertail dies without kits. Stormfur finds Brook in the mountains and they have kits. (Pine and Lark). They have an unknown status. (Could still be alive) Oh! And Mistystar and kits, most of them died except one, also, he is deputy of RiverClan. (Reedwhisker).
So I have a theory. Since Stormfur, Pine, Brook, and Lark live in the mountains, Mapleshade couldn't track them down and kill them off. And after the Great Battle, Mistystar and Reedwhisker are still alive, along with Graystripe, and I think Mapleshade has given up, or, she is waiting for the right moment.
Nice theory, but Darkstar wasn’t killed. Ravenwing, Appledusk, and Frecklewish were killed. Darkstar and Oakstar probably just died for other reasons.

Or mapleshade tried for them, but they rejected them, because we don’t get a perspective on them very much at all, expect mistystars novella, and graystripe like manga or some crap like that. So she easily could’ve tried to trick them but they resisted and didn’t follow her? Just a possibility, or she doesn’t think they would be good for her to come for, and she also faded away I believe in the battle of the last hope, I think, because Spottedleaf saves sandstorm by diving in front of her just before mapleshade attacks her so I don’t know but mapleshade may of died again

well now mistystar, reedwhisker, and graystripe are dead, and we don't know about stormfur, pine, brook and lark, so mapleshade might've succeeded, since we aren't sure what killed mistystar and reedwhisker

I love her too much for words and despite her being ripped to SHREADS, Marshmallowtail still loves her because he loved her personality and thats so cute to me. I love how wise she is and how she really did learn to trust in her clans decisions, the accident didn't just happen and then get brushed over, she learned from it because it had horrible consequences and thats how it SHOULD work.

I think that Ashfur being an accomplice to Hawkfrost's murder of Firestar when he didn't go through with the murder was 100% intentional and planned. I'm positive that he purposefully "chickened out" because he knew what was going to happen and wanted to show the clan, especially Squirrelflight, that Brambleclaw had murdered Firestar. Course this didn't happen but I'm positive that that was his plan.

A well overlooked thing of Mapleshade that I will scream to the heavens about on my deathbed is how twisted her mind is throughout the book.
The death of her kits was her fault 100%, she lied about their father to win favour in her clan and then she took the kits out of camp when even the kits knew they were too young to leave yet. She left because she wanted to take them to the river and (absolutely no doubt in my mind) to meet Appledusk, to get a chance meeting. Because she was so selfishly in love she took kits from camp and she was caught for it.
Even throughout the book she doesn't admit fault and actively twists her mind to put the blame onto others, while still being in love with Appledusk. Even as she makes the plans to kill him, she still screams to Reedshine "Appledusk is mine!" and she tries to kill Reedshine, a fact a lot of people leave out of the MAPs and retellings because it doesn't make her seem cool. There was no way she was ever going to kill Appledusk on purpose.
But no, we'll ignore all these things and make her into a badass she-cat with nothing to lose who takes revenge on her ex-lover because that's cooler. The fandom has all decided to just ignore what Mapleshade's actual story and issues are to instead make her a victim turned villain which is not what she was at all. She was always a villain, just a selfish one.
I think Mapleshade's actual story and issues are really cool. At the end of the book she even sees the Dark Forest as a sort of reward for cats like her, who showed "strength" and fought their way to get in. These are interesting points. It's the fandom's built up idea of Mapleshade that is so overused and overrated.

To be honest, I don’t really like maple shade but I feel like in the end she was like “Shoot, I ruined my life.” She just did whatever at that point, she just couldn’t really live anymore, and honestly, when she was in the dark forest, I think she got mad again that they ruined her life then eek.

I remember reading Daisy's Kin and Breezepelt was literally soft toward them. I always viewed him as the angsty, always annoyed, irritated(and irritating) character, so him just being NICE was super weird. Like... W H A T
