    DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE TOUCHING ANYTHING ELSE!
    Not unplugging the battery can cause you to short out the motherboard and it will break the laptop.

    Are all of the screws are the same size? I just need to know that so I can fix mine.

    • @YoussGm
      @YoussGm  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They are not all the same size. If I remember correctly there are 3-4 sizes.
      You need to separate the ones from the plastic back, the ones holding the battery, fan screw, and heatsink screws.
      Not 100% sure but just look at the screws and label them together on a piece of paper.
      Make sure to disconnect the battery.

      @@YoussGm Thank you, I need to transfer everything to the new case so that's really important for me

    • @YoussGm
      @YoussGm  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Then labeling is very important, if you look next to the screw holes, you can see written mx-2 and other names which tell you what type of screw it is, so you can use that to identify.
      Goodluck!

      @YoussGm Hi bro, I upgraded to 8 GB RAM and SSD, and then removed the battery because it was inflated. Now it's turning off after using it for a few minutes, do you know why it's happening?

      So you're using the laptop without a battery, just plugged in. Could be that it needs more power than it can take from the charger.
      Could also be something with the ram, try removing the ram and putting it back in, making sure its in all the way. You can also try to remove the new ram and see if problem is with the new ram or something else.
      When it turns off does the screen just go black and the fan turns off? Or is there a bluescreen or something.

    thanks, friend. my neighbors have this laptop and I am helping them clean it up and upgrade some parts.
    I'm considering
    - updating the RAM to 16, what brand/kind do you suggest?
    - updating the hard drive to an SSD, do you think it's worth it?
    - does the laptop accept slot SSD (not sata)? I need to research this
    - updating to windows 11, I'm kind of skeptical about this but windows 10 will lose support soon

    • @YoussGm
      @YoussGm  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can't go wrong with Crucial brand ram, any will do fine though. (1.35V, for the ram speed check taskmanager). Upgrading it to 16gb might be hard since the laptop has 4gb soldered, so you can add either a 4gb stick to get 8gb total, a 8gb stick for 12gb total, or a 16gb stick for 20gb total.
      I'm not sure of the max ram supported on the laptop, a 16gb stick should work fine though (google it)
      Upgrading to an SSD is one of the best things to do, it improves speed and responsiveness so much.
      The laptop does not have an ssd slot (nvme), only 2.5inch sata.
      Updating to windows 11 is something I wouldn't do. I'm still on windows 10. Windows 11 is more intensive and has features i don't want. It's up to your neighbors preferences. I would avoid updating from 10 to 11, instead do a clean windows 11 install to avoid problems.
      Goodluck!

    Interesting how you glued these thermal pads, could you provide more information on how to distribute them? I have the same machine and I am having temperature problems this summer.

    • @YoussGm
      @YoussGm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The thermal pads don't help that much and might even act as an insulator the way i put them.
      I put them on the vrms, the chips that distribute electricity since they are prone to overheating. They have r47 or 4r7 written on them, some are different. But that's basically it. Also some on the heatspreader to add thermal mass, basically delaying the moment when it overheats.

    • @RotterFederico
      @RotterFederico ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@YoussGm Well there, maybe I'll copy that and see what happens. Tomorrow I will receive the thermal paste, if everything improves a little better do as you did to see if there are better results. Because now, around here, it is impossible to buy a better PC.

    • @YoussGm
      @YoussGm  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is this a new problem or the gpu wqs just never detected since you got the laptop?
      Could be a bad windows update, or you simply do not have the same laptop model, since the ideapad 320 has different models that have different CPU and can optionally have a gpu. You might just not have a dedicated gpu.
      Check in your bios if it shows anywhere that you have a dedicated gpu.

    I have this laptop.
    RAM: I upgraded my the ram to 20GB but unfortunately it will serve as 16GB. 4GB soldered+20GB additional and It's providing me 20GB of RAM.
    SSD: I replace the 2TB HDD with 256GB SSD.
    Removed the CD/DVD Drive: Removed the DVD Drive and attached a kit to use my 2TB HDD as storage drive in place.
    The system works very well. but still I need clean my laptop and remove old past and apply new.
    The Graphic card is AMD 4GB and is underpower but it can't be upgraded, I think.
    If there is anything I can upgrade, I will. Please suggest me more upgrades.

      You can experiment with undervolting the cpu for lower temperatures using Throttlestop, I have a stable -100mv and the cpu stays at 3.4ghz constantly.

    What are the dimensions of the thermal pads and do they work for cooling? I'm talking about the ones that sit on the motherboard.

    • @YoussGm
      @YoussGm  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe they are 2 mm thick. They help transfer heat from the components to the bottom of the laptop, making it take more time to thermal throttle than without them. It will still throttle though because the heat is just spreading, not leaving entirely.

    • @YoussGm

      I don't think so. Considering the height constraints of the laptop, it wouldn't fit in the chassis.
      If you really search for it though you might find some crazy dude in china that has a diy one in his basement or something.
      Something you can do is just buy a motherboard with better specs from ebay and replace the old one.

    I want to ask, how do you overclock the RAM?

    • @YoussGm
      @YoussGm  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's technically possible, but I DONT RECOMMEND IT!!! I tried to overclock it and bricked the laptop 2 times, so i needed to flash the bios manually again to fix it. It worked at 2249MT/s or something like that instead of the 2133 default but its unstable, after restarting the laptop it bricked.
      To overclock it, you will need to unlock the advanced section of the bios menu. To do that you can use the Insyde H2O unlocker made for lenovo ideapad 300 series, find by googling.
      In the bios then you have access to custom memory profiles.
      Do not do this, minimal gain for very big risk.

      DDR stands for double data rate so some softwares, instead of showing 2133 show half of it as the speed so 1068 × 2. Task manager should show 2133 though.
      What software shows 1068? Guessing it's cpu-Z, then yeah its normal.

    • @YoussGm
      @YoussGm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it looks good. But if you already have 4gb ram in the laptop, its better to get another 4gb ram stick so you can run in dual channel.
      Running in dual channel gives a bit more performance but getting an 8gb stick should still be fine, especially if the games you play use a lot of ram.
