  • www.bridgewhy.... is the name of our website where you can find all of our courses.
In this video we will be talking about BGP AS-Path attribute. AS we have seen there are many attributes in BGP which affects its path selection algorithm. BGP AS-Path attribute is one of the most used attributes for traffic engineering in production networks. It can influence traffic in both directions, i.e., the traffic which is going out from your AS and the traffic which is coming towards your AS-Path. BGP AS-path attributes comes after Local-Preference attribute in BGP path selection algorithm.
In this video, you will get to know about the various places on which you can tweak the BGP AS-Path attribute. You will also learn what are the various mechanisms through which you can prepend BGP AS-Path attribute. We will take the example of four AS numbers and see how AS-path prepending works. We will also see what AS number we need to choose while prepending BGP AS-Path attribute.
Till now we have discussed Next-hop, Weight, Local preference attributes of BGP which remains inside and AS numbers. This video is part of my ongoing series on BGP-OSPF and MPLS from scratch and cover various topics.

At 21:30, Please let me know if I am wrong. In between iBGP and eBGP, the router will install eBGP routes and not iBGP irrespective of the local pref or the weight received via iBGP peer. Isn't it?

If you are getting two same routed via iBGP and eBGP, it depends on the BGP path selection algorithm which route will be selected. Weight, Local-Pref, AS-Path comes way before than eBGP vs iBGP. So these parameters will be preferred...

      Thank you for clarifying 👍

@@bridgewhy ebgp has an admin distance of 20 compared to ibgp 200. So ebgp will be preferred.

Hey, please lab it up. Advertise two routes one via ebgp and other via ibgp and change the LP(high) or AS path (low) value of iBGP. See the magic :)
