This is so beautiful, I think you just made a crack in my heart. I have never seen Dear Evan Hansen, but I really want to, and this was my first time hearing this song, and I have fallen in love with it.
Lauren, I just saw you as Elphaba in wicked and you were absolutely phenomenal in Seattle! The way you made those songs your own is absolutely fantastic! Can you share what key you sing this in? Thank you so much. I love the musical dear Evan Hanssen as well!
Professionals with professional voice training are taught very well how to do both neutral and American accents, the two widely used accents in singing
@@jonosimpson3379 Yeah, I suppose this one is overly-American, but I think it's true for anyone too. Like, I didn't know Elton John was English until about a year ago.😳
@@milamcg40 well then there's also a degree of how heavily influenced your life is with Hollywood and American movies/TV etc, and how far your natural accent is from the American accent. As an Aussie, it's not too hard to sing in an American accent cause we're always so exposed to it here through our media. UK too. Other countries? Maybe not as much
She has a lovely voice but I would really like to hear it with her natural accent, the American is an affectation as a result of hearing it sung that way in the past but sadly it ruined this performance for me and I couldn't listen to the whole thing.
Excellent job (other than fubbing a few words but hey, it's a pretty verbatim song). Your expressiveness in your voice is amazing. But the sliding into those highest notes at the end. Bleh. Took the key too high. But that's the only technical critique I have. Otherwise a masterclass. (Lower it down a step)
I was lucky enough to see Dear Evan Hansen. I cried through much of it (and I'm a 62-year-old).

It’s so emotional, almost draining.
So good, that you can buy the novelization of just the story
Not me crying at how pretty this was, pffffffft, nooooo
I'm just sweating from the eyes! Stop looking at me alright?
One of the most beautiful songs in musical theater sang perfectly.

It's so weird how you can't hear someone's accent when they sing.

@@TLK9419 I agree, I've noticed it often for singers of all types, many of whom are not professionally trained.
@@jonosimpson3379 or you just sing in an American accent ?? I do it all the time ( not that I can sing well lmao ) i thought everyone just did it

pretty but lack of weight in the voice ... too bad !
