Yeah, they covered a sexual harassment story of mine back in 2013 and failed to dig deeper into the corruption. They also did a story about my department's excessive overtime payments; they could have exposed much more with some investigation.

There were two spent .40 cal casings recovered at the crime scene and 7 9mm casings. Youngblut's pistol was .40cal and her comapanion's was a .380, which was never fired. The border patrol agent and other officers were carrying 9mm pistols. Without knowing what caliber bullet struck the border patrol agent, we can't determine whether he was shot by Youngblut or friendly fire, which is possible.

Best I can tell, their landlord evicted them ("leave or the sheriff will come"), and the border patrol tried to detain two for questioning ("get in the car or you're resisting arrest"). Nobody knows what's up with the Pennsylvania killings, but one of them is related to the victims.

I want to know more about the so-called 'rationalists.' Who are they? How many of them are out there? What do they think they're accomplishing? They sound a lot like the Manson family frankly.

You can learn more about the rationalist movement by googling "lesswrong". There's maybe 2000-50,000 of us depending how you define it- it's very loosely organized. We mostly care about thinking probabilistically and keeping OpenAI from destroying the world. I wouldn't say we've accomplished very much on the 2nd part.
We are not like the Manson family- we're mostly a bunch of extremely online nerds. So everyone was very confused when a dozen or so randos showed up calling themselves "double good" and unaliving people. I'm glad to hear the authorities are taking them seriously now.
