In the United States motorcycles are not means of transportation but toys. How about put more affordable bikes on the best of like the new triumph 400s or the new Royal Enfields with the current economy it doesn’t make sense to spend this much on a toy. Not to mention the RE and Triumphs get some of the best gas mileage and with triumph less maintenance so less money out of pocket. CF moto too. There is a reason KTM is going out of business and Harley is having so many issues is too. No one is buying your best of cause they are not affordable
Absolutely one of the ugliest motorcycles ever built. First time I saw it I thought they hadn’t finished putting it together. Nope that’s just how bad it looks.
Sport bike guys pick sport bike guys keep lies coming 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 funny not one of the top selling bikes makes the list. Hope they enjoyed the bribes payed to them.
Gigantic "Adventure Bikes" (like this GS) when ridden *with spirit* in the dirt give me the idea of a Chevy Spark loaded with a family of 4 and their luggage for a 2-week cross country road trip vacation. I mean, the vehicle *can* do it, but....is it really a fun experience doing it?🤷 #DR650 #XR650L #KLR650
Couple of the bikes might be worthy. BMW 1300 and the Harley are definitely not. Both good bikes, but the prices are out of control. Every KTM lost its value with the company collapse and low reliability.
I'm 67 I ride everyday, and have since I was 14 , what am I riding, something with storage, a gas and go. Economical, yet fast enough to keep up with highway traffic. I ride a 2007 Honda Helix 250. I've had 3 750/4. A 650 special a Yamaha verago 1100 etc etc. Please Honda build a 350cc scooter/cycle. Automatic with plenty of storage, no electronic key . Basically a Honda Helix twin, on 17" wheels. And Honda quality, and water cooled, under stressed engine and 70 mpg
I'm 68 & I'm wondering if this bike $inflation$ is going to drive me off of bikes! But no, there will always be something on the used market that is near new for a huge discount. Some of the rich are always buying something they don't use & sell it 2 yrs later. I'm right there to take advantage! 😊
I rode my BMW GS from Pismo Beach CA to Prudoe Bay AK back in 2012 and it was an absolute joy to ride. So much so, that I wound up riding to New Mexico before I could bring myself to go home, 9K miles in 24 days.
They have ridden them all and this is their opinion. I tend to defer to people who actually ride the various competitive bikes rather than allow my personal prejudice to affect my views. In various test rides over the years I usually find that these guys know what they are talking about
The only adventure bike in the list, despite the category outselling almost every other category combined, is the ridiculously over-spec'ed and over priced BMW R1300GS. It's absolutely not the "next evolution" of adventure bikes - it's the exact opposite! Small displacement (under 600cc) ADV bikes are the future of the category as ADV riders are realizing that heavy bikes lack the agility and off-road performance of lighter weight (and more affordable) models. Yamaha, where's the Tenere 450? Suzuki, how about a V-Strom 450DE? Honda, although the Transalp 750XL is a good bike, you're hopelessly out of touch with the NX500!
MT-10SP! Like the 2025 Honda 1000 Hornet, let's get back to proper UJM's. In my 50 years of owning 28 bikes, my favorite has been the '97-'00 GSF1200S. I've owned THREE. With some upgrades,(suspension/jetting/ergos), it is THE go-to bike: Big torque, fine geometry, tons of parts, easy to work on, fun on a track and easily Continental. Nope, no electronic gimcracks- JUST AN ECU.
The GS isn't pretty, but all reviews seem to say from the riders perspective nothing else comes close for an all-round adventure bike. And you don't see what they look like when you are riding so I'm probably going to buy one as I haven't seen a bad review yet.
Woke Harley Davidson (aka Sustainable Taliban) has no shame with their Screamin' chicken CVO (cash vaporization operation). It's not a value for dollar proposition. I vote Indian Challenger Elite in place of the HD. Another 10 horsepower, much less expensive, liquid cooling, less weight. I agree on the MT-09SP, the GSX-8R, and YZ450F. I suppose the R1300GS might offer the most technology and accessibility for the money, but in my opinion, the limitations in this ADV category knock it down several notches (VERY wide engine, heavy motorcycle, and pretty cost prohibitive in general). I'd rather something of smaller displacement and less weight, but in general, those kind don't offer the sheer smorgasbord of features (even though I personally don't believe all features elevate a model).
@@rogerthat1553 Cycle World might have some financial or beneficial connections to some of these corporations, but they are pretty much free to say what they want and publish what they want.
My list would NOT look like this, but man, some of these comments seem written by angsty 16 year olds. What are we, motorcyclists or teenaged toxic gamers? It's their channel, their list, their OPINION. Relax.
I know I'm a GS fan boy, I have had every generation, but I went BACKWARDS and got a "classic" air/oil cooled 2011... The water cooled boxer was missing the GS-ness!
I think I will wait until the Aprilia is a year old or so when the original owner tire of the weak engine. Buy it used at a bargain and swap the engine with a 421cc or larger rz350 power plant.
Saddened with the choices of best motorcycles here. On any given day the majority of new riders could not and should not ride these bikes as described on virtually any American road. The Suzuki was the only somewhat decent choice of motorcycle here. How KTM beat out the Kawasaki 500 lineup has me scratching my head. Choose wisely if you want to continue riding without losing life or license listening to choices like this.
The GS and big KTMs are not "Adventure Bikes". They are nothing more than street touring bikes with an inch more ground clearance. 99% of those bikes never leave the pavement.
My vote for middleweight sport bike: Triumph Street Triple RS. Maybe 'best track bike' is its own category, allowing an award for 'street sport bike.' Similarly, I see 'touring' and 'sport-touring' as distinct categories. How about 'novice bikes' as a category? It would give some attention and encouragement to beginners. I'm for recognizing e-bikes, and scooters for that matter. In any case, I was entertained. 🙂✌
Seriously? I took the Suzuki 8R out for a test ride on their demo days and it was horrible! Cheapest, lowest quality feeling Japanese sport bike I’ve ever ridden. Agricultural motor with no soul. Have journalists lowered their bar so far that a discount wanna be sport bike wins as a ‘best bike’?
