This will get buried in other comments but just wanted to say that its been so fun following this channel for a long time, especially seeing the developement of karina. She went from sometimes visiting and being very quiet to opening up and joking and giggling through out the episodes and it just makes my heart warm

Upon second viewing... Does anyone think Beast was originally supposed to be a dragon? Mastiff jaw, lizard legs, salamander body. Like... That's a drake. That's a dragon with its wings clipped
(Headcanon: and that's part of why he doesn't go anywhere; maybe he lost them while someone tried to "assist" in shedding)
That makes sense to me, since in the region of the Alps where I come from the Beast is a dragon straight up! I looked up the version Julia used here ("Belle Rose", by Henri Pourrat) and it's from Auvergne, in south-central France

For some reason the line about Gollum's eyes shining like lanterns always stood out to me when I read LotR because I just imagined movie gollum with headlights for eyes. I started cackling the minute I heard the description.

Speed draw time! Julia starts with a creation of her own making, along with instructions of light sources, textures, reflectivity, etc. AND THEN! (drumroll) Nathan, Jacob, and Karina (with a surprise appearance Caldwell!?!) render said creation to the best of their abilities. It'll be interesting to note the differences between each render.

you know what would be fun? smth to do with weird australian animals. would be DELIGHTED to see julia turn a cassowary into a person or a monster. cassowaries are just... so unbelievably malicious. we also have many deadly snakes and spiders as well as funky reptiles like the thorny devil (srsly this guy is METAL) and Kool Kooky animals like the tasmanian tiger (extinct), tasmanian devil, and the bilby (which is just adorable)

For the first one I didn't realise who it was until about half way through the drawing. The second one I got right away from the description. And I mean instantly.

The "tuko" lizards that were mentioned are also known as Tokay Geckos. They are beautiful blue lizards with orange or red dots throughout their bodies and they do indeed make a "too-koo" or "to-Kay" sound which is were both names originate from. They are really cool and interesting creatures. I had one female as pet when I was younger and they don't get their pit bulls of the lizard world name for nothing. They are also potentially really aggressive but also have some of the best climbing abilities even sticking to glass. They are beautiful and amazing little creatures.
Hands down, this is one of the most creative and best challanges you guys have done :D

More proof that I'm just some kind of bizzaro-world version of Julia: I immediately knew all three characters. On the third one I knew it, but then went into a rabbit hole in my mind of if that counted as a "book" before eventually coming back around to deciding that yeah, Drawfee has no rules anyway so it doesn't matter. THEN Julia gave her hint that she thought would give it away (and it did), but then I started to try and remember what other fun descriptors existed in other fairy tales and such....and then I realized I missed so much of the episode so I had to rewind and watch that part again.
I was 99% sure the first one would actually be Smeagol because everything but the yellow fur and armor fit Smeagols description

Pretty sure, from the art style, that the Charizard fight you referenced is from The Electric Tale of Pikachu, which was probably the darkest pokemon manga. It was explicitly about Ash.
Pokemon Adventures, which is still running, I think, was instead based on the games, and was about Red. It was moderately dark as well, but not quite as much.

Bilbo actually didn't really tell anyone where he went, he just came back with a big chest full of treasure and let everyone make shit up. He wrote the book but he just gave it to Frodo who didn't really tell anyone else either. Also Bilbo kept getting visited by Dwarves and Gandalf for years and everyone though he was weird.
Lol I find that kinda funny. While I know it's certainly not book accurate, I just imagine a grizzled tired Bilbo returning home with his treasure and yelling, "Take some shit and get out of my house. I'm going to be sleeping soundly for the first time in forever!" And then instead continues to get hounded by the dwarves and Wizards instead lol.

@@ginger6readspaceman well if we go off The Hobbit movies, he did return to people auctioning off his possessions and home since they presumed he was dead and/or missing and people didn't really believe him when he said he was hired to help the Dwarves, so he was certainly sad and angry when he returned.
In all fairness, a hobbit who rides on a boat, let alone a *ship*, is also considered to be weird by typical hobbit standards.

*FUN FACT* : they say that Karinas Gollum looks like a Moomin, which is kinda funny cause the illustrator Tove Jansson, the inventor/author and illustrator of the Moomins, actually illustrated the pictures for the official Swedish translation of The Hobbit and therefore also drew Gollum.

Monsters with different skeletons wouldn't be able to move like people could and mocap actors train very hard to imitate animals. This one mocap guy for MH had to practice moving with Hand and Feet clogs to get the gorilla movement just right for Rajang.

@@Jonanation You're technically right, but the idea Greek and Roman pantheon are the same isn't entirely correct. The greeks would see existing pantheons and basically said "Oh X is just Y but a different name!" So everything was associated with their culture

That could turn very nsfw very quickly, especially with pop culture characters.
Suggestion: “that’s art, baybeeeeee!” Becomes “that’s art baby?”
Redraw famous portraits like Mona Lisa, Girl With A Pearl Earring, American Gothic, The Scream etc. but the subjects are now babies.
Maybe they could do an opposite challenge, where they take famous art and then maybe draw the “opposite” of it, like they’ve done at least once with a celebrity challenge.
Actually, no, I prefer the baby option. That would be so much funnier.
Suggestion: Artist A draws a creature, Artist B can't watch the drawing, but is still there for the conversation with the rest of the group. Then Artist B tries to draw what they think was drawn based only on hearing what everyone talked about during the drawing.

Hey here’s another challenge idea I’m calling the Layer Cascade:
So for example Nathan will start a drawing of Elmo (random character?). After an arbitrary amount of time Karina will stop him and say Spheal, then Nathan must make a new layer and use what he’s already got to turn the drawing into Spheal.
Repeat with Jacob's and Julia's interruptions.
The end result for each of you should be four layers deep and end up kind of resembling what the last person said.
Layers because it’ll be funny to look at half a drawing.
