Thanks for watching guys. Here's another idea I forgot to mention: If you get rid of your tinny on a trailer it then frees you up to tow other toys or a camper trailer instead 👍
Hi great boat! Like you mentioned never buy a car that has had a roof top tinnie loader no matter how much you try to wash it clean the boat will bleed salt on the car roof getting into the seams and down the line you get a huge repair bill ! In your videos you have proved how offshore capable this boat is! Safe Travels
Good one Chris, for a couple traveling it's ideal, glad you stayed with the 20hp outboard motor, for 2 people I think is awesome plus the price is reasonable.
How is the price reasonable. These True Kits cost DOUBLE the price of any other similar sized inflatable catamarans in the consumer market! Not competitive at all. Plus you'd expect wear and tear to be limited, but it's quite poor the problems highlighted in the video. Parts literally disintegrating.
You mentioned the time it takes with the hand pump on location…try using a makita or Milwaukee battery dust blower to pump the majority of it up to save time
I use a cheap 7ah agm battery and a $120 12v pump from Anaconda, for my inflatable boat. Put it in a backpack and it's fully portable and will save your back.🎉
Can't believe it's been a year since you got the boat. Always love your boat missions and the Cockermouth Island one was my fav. Totally agree on the towing part, the trailer just becomes a sand anchor. I was confused between this and the Highfield, however the Discovery is a cat and a much better product. I was concerned as Valmex is still a PVC and how it would hold up compared to Hypalon, but I think it's just as good. Thanks for the long term review mate, not a lot of them out there. Just a tip mate, please add long term review and valmex to your description or tags and a lot more of the boating community will find this, cheers 🤙
You answered your own question. The baby is how they keep fit. Making it in the first place, feeding it, changing it, playing with it, chasing it, running to keep everything in sight out of its mouth, jogging to the doctor to get the pill prescription or vasectomy...
Fantastic episode, heaps of thought has gone into this. Keep up the awesome work. Have you thought about constructing a box for the rear incorporating an outboard mount
I don't know if you are involved with True Kit. If not, you should be. You've sold me on one. Great review. And a quarter of the price of the small aluminum pontoon boats I was looking at. Cheers.
You stated that it's tiring pumping up the boat with the pump instead of useing a footpump or an electric pump check the clips on TH-cam that show people using a battery powered air blower to pump up the pontoons and the floor for most of it then finish off with the hand pump. They do it in a fraction of the time . Happy boating hoping to get a true kit myself in the future.
I was sold on these inflatables and had it narrowed down to true kit or Takacat. Takacat had a much better shipping price at the time so I went with them. It’s horrible because although my boat has been fine so far I see a lot of people have unrepairable leaks on the floor. I think trukit is def the way to go
Great vid, I really like these also particularly the weights, design and packdown size. With your travels so far do you have any concerns about using this in croc country?
When I saw you unpack this for the first time my first thought was the seat was going to be weak, and wear where it attaches, even though it looks like they've made it thicker in that area. I think the seat is a flawed design, they could have done a lot better, and only did it that way because they were fixated on keeping an inflatable floor. There was no need to. I've seen inflatable dinghies with hard floors that still float if the pontoons deflate. And with a hard floor they could have made a lightweight box style seat instead, rectangular, with curved ends to fit snug against the pontoons, and with an internal support structure (like a crisscross grid - think old plastic milk crates) which could have then rested on the hard floor instead of tugging downwards on pockets slowly wearing against the pontoons. And because a hard floor would be relatively thin it could have been stored in various places in any vehicle, like in the bottom of a car boot, strapped to the roof or boot lid or even the engine hood, stood upright just behind the front seats or behind the back of a lounge inside a camper - even over your head inside the vehicle. They also could have made it with a folding hinge/s or in "planks" that slide and lock together. (The rear of the boat is open to water anyway. So obviously hinges or joins in the floor wouldn't matter because they don't need to keep water out.) But there's no money in making in a perfect product that doesn't break/wear out. Making it just a little better than the rest so word spreads and sell more of them is enough, right?
Hi Chris we are really interested in your catamaran. Now you have had it for 12 months what would you change if you could. We have a Commander SLRV truck and was looking at a tinny but like the idea of simply storing the boat out of sight. By the way we like your channel. We are Team D-Tour Garry and Heather cheers Garry.
Firstly what a beautiful location you live. Looks like a paradise, plus this is a great video. 😎👍 However on the down side, I'm shocked with those issues you demonstrated after ONLY 1 year usage. Parts literally disintegrating, like the bag and the seats and mounts etc. These True Kit boats are at least TWICE as expensive as all other consumer inflatable catamarans on the market. They are super expensive. So you'd expect wear and tear to be minimal at best, clearly not the case. Plus they are New Zealand based and postage is only appropriate to residents on that side of the world. If I wanted to order this boat, it will cost about the same price POSTAGE as it would for me to buy the Tohatsu Outboard motor for this boat! 😂 Everything about it is extortionate $$$. Plus actually now I'm happy I'm resorting to buying one of the cheaper alternatives.....
I haven't watched ya vid yet, but just wondering have you looked into how good these electric outboards are now (not just for trolling). A bit lighter to carry, no need for fuel storage just charge up the battery and go. Like Temo..
Still has fuel storage u got to put a big heavy battery in it or it won't run its electric , all they need is an 8hp two stroke motor their light and the rubber ducky will still fly with one
We have a tinny on a trailer and an inflatable boat on a trailer and if I had to choose one I'd choose the 1973 tinny. i don't believe any inflatables from 1973 are still in service. The inflatable is a lot better for diving and the roughest water. For everything else the tinny is better.
@@TheOutFit awesome :) i've watched all your vids. i am currently converting a bus into an RV and planning to travelling around and i am right now tossing up between something like your little inflatable here and a towable... and i think the inflatable as a load of PROS on it's side. no trailer. easy in/out water away from ramps. simple. cheap. etc etc love ya. no hate :) was just teasing.
Thanks for watching guys.

If you get rid of your tinny on a trailer it then frees you up to tow other toys or a camper trailer instead 👍
I have the same boat and love it. I use a Milwaukee 18v compact blower to inflate 90% of the way and then the hand pump to finish it off. Takes 6mins👍
Noted, thanks for that❤😂
I do the same, and then I point that same Milwaukee 18v compact blower around to drive the boat. Saves having to buy a separate motor.
Thats what i do too rod. I just tape the hose on with duct tape. Easy peasy
@@gregkosinski2303 is this for real? using a blower as a motor? how does that work?

You guys are looking amazing!! Would be great to see how you keep fit on the road, with a baby too! 😅

We just tested out our true kit 4m Discovery and ive noticed the transom has changed, Its now a little higher.

Waiting for TrueKit to open in Goa, India. Many hobby anglers here with limited resources apart from rock fishing.
Thks for the video you guys are living the dream!!👍😊
Thanks for watching 👍

Thanks a lot 👍
Great Vid Chris,
Never thought about getting a catamaran

You definitely convinced us! Buying this next year when we start or big lap 🤩
The way to go guys, you'll love it with your set up! Any idea where you would store the outboard?
@@TheOutFit it has to go on our roof… we don’t have much storage inside unfortunately. We just have to buy a good bag or box like you mentioned.

i'm in Brissy looking at getting the 3.3

I hope you saw the inflatable attacked by a shark in WA. He survived and had to be rescued.
The group hooked a shark and tried to reel it in 🤦♂️
Excelent product like
You can use a tinnie on a trailer as a way of carrying more gear and freeing up the car space
That said I would never buy another tinnie
are you saying "catamarang" ? what's that lol
It's ewok slang for inflatable catamaran obviously 🙄
