  • Care, pruning and propagation of the Daphne Odora shrub in my garden. As an amateur gardener its important to have plants that are relatively easy to care for. In this video I show how I care for the Daphne, prune it and for the first time attempt to take cuttings.

So interesting! My mother always had Daphne in her garden, but I had never heard about the origins before. Thanks for that😊

Yes it's not something you tend to think about. Glad you found it interesting.

Hi. Well most didn't to be honest. I have one left that has lost it's leaves but is still alive. I will see if I can send you a photo over the weekend but meanwhile the mother plant is beautiful this year. May have to try again 🤔

It is mid winter here in south eastern Australia (Greetings 🇦🇺) and the Daphne has come into bud. Due to not having flowers for cutting I have cut some Daphne for the vase BUT I think I have cut too soon. I was hoping the buds would open indoors. Should I have waited until the flowers were peeking through? 😊

Hi. Thanks for getting in touch. I have to admit here in the UK these shrubs are not usually used for cut flowers. The blooms are fairly short lived and better left in situ. I alway think they bring the smell of spring with them.
