Great video. I would've liked to have seen the season start later this year. I usually do really well from Halloween on. Also good to see that I'm not the only one catching lots of dink thread fins. I had to go to 1/4" to not Christmas tree my 3/8" net.
That definitely happens. We were throwing a 1/4 net and still got some baits stuck in the net. I agree October and November are the best but noaa just took that from us!
I believe the color matters for light situations. Me personally ive found Dark colors are for low light, overcast and early morning while bright natural colors for high noon and sunny. Like you said no rhyme or reason but that's what seems to be the trick for me. Good job capt, good luck this fall! Stupid closures gonna screw us good!
Thanks for the comment and yes I agree but as soon as I think I have it figured out they hit the opposite. The closure hurt this year and I hope they can figure that out better in the future. Hope to see you on the water soon!
Was going to get good till FWC decided to close Gag season October 19th before it really got cool. Bad enough season started 2 months late and was going to close a month and half early, now closing 2 1/2 months early!
The video was very helpful. Thank you. The only thing missing was. How far do you let the lure go behind the boat or your count? And at what depth of water are you in? I know that makes a difference too low and you lose the lure. All part of fishing. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for the comment! I normally let them go about 150 feet or so behind the boat. The tips of the rods should be shaking a good bit, if they are not then they are to far back and there is not enough tension on the line. The depth of the water was about 20 feet. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks for the tips. Can't wait to try out trolling for them, although to me it looked like you were moving fast. What is the recommended speed with those deep diving plugs?
@@LandedFishing interesting, i've seen a few people doing that but never saw anyone catch anything. I usually troll the spoils out near the shipping lane past egmont.

I couldn’t agree more. That hurt a lot of guides and lodges on there fall income. 30 day season was a joke this year!

Thank you for the comment. We normally troll them at 3-6 mph depending on the current and winds.
Nice video. Are you trolling on outside of channel or in channel. Shame season is closed
Thank you for the comment! And we were trolling the reefs outside the channel but we do catch them on the shelf of the channel too!
great video and very informative, what speed were you trolling at ?
Thank you for the comment! We troll at 3-5 mph depending on the current and waves.
thank you for replying back to me
