- Turning a 14 inch bowl from Monkey Puzzle wood on a Harvey T-60S wood lathe using Carbide woodturning tools from Easy Wood Tools is a challenging yet rewarding experience for any woodturner. The Monkey Puzzle wood is a unique and rare species with distinctive characteristics that make it stand out from other woods. The Harvey T-60S wood lathe is a powerful machine that offers the precision and control needed for turning such a large piece of wood. The Carbide woodturning tools from Easy Wood Tools provide efficient and clean cuts that allow for a smooth and consistent finish. Finishing the bowl with Yorkshire Grit and microcrystalline wax is the perfect way to bring out the natural beauty of the Monkey Puzzle wood and create a stunning and long-lasting piece of art.

Fantastic piece, Jamie! Love seeing that beast of a lathe in action!
Thanks Brother
Great Bowl, very nice features in that wood. Looks like you have a nice new toy there. Noticed that "Turning for Vengeance" T Shirt. I am a big fan of Judas Priest. I saw the "Vengence" tour back in like 83. My brother caught one of their shows last fall here in the USA. Ole Rob Halford can sure still sing for a guy in his 70s. I think he is the last of the original members in the band. Anyways Congrats on the New Lathe.
Thank you and that’s awesome!! Always good to see them still doing what they love doing
Beautiful work Jamie, that came out looking great!

Nice❤🔥❤🔥
I know right
Very nice JP. Nicely shaped bowl and finish. I'm assuming you have quite a bit more capacity on the new lathe so you can turn bigger things than you were able to turn with your previous lathe?
Thanks mark and ohh yes a LOT more
Lovely piece of wood JP and I like the voice over.
Does your lathe need fixing down it looked like it was bouncing around a bit when you started hollowing?
Also what made you go for this lathe and how does it compare to the RPCH?
Thanks mate, naaa it wasn’t bouncing was just a bit of vibration, believe me this thing ain’t moving! Lol 😂 in comparison to the coronet it’s night and day, this is a much bigger and more powerful machine, I went for this lathe because I was given a opportunity I couldn’t turn down and I had heard of Harvey lathes and their rep so I was jumping on the chance to work with them :)
Looks good. What size is the tool rest shaft?
Thanks, its 5 inches, makes it difficult to find tool rest but not impossible :)
I'm sure it's a nice project, but you lost me the instant the music started. Why is it deemed downright mandatory to stick a music bed under virtually every friggin' video on the internet? We come here to watch the process & hear how the tools & machines work, not listen to what you consider a cool tune. We can play & listen to music anywhere, anytime. Just my 2 cents worth.
My bad, I have updated the formats of my videos since this one and I have started doing voiceovers however there is still music in the video because there would be a lot of quiet time, I have addressed this before in the past, I have reason why I can’t have tool sounds in my videos, I live in a highly residential area and the local noise is extremely high and it would be a constant through my videos and make for a worse video to watch so now I pay for the music I put in there and do a voiceover, I’m sorry you don’t approve but I have had to make the best of a bad situation
@@jpwoodwork Au contraire Sir. MY bad.
First of all, thank you for your very civil reply to my decidedly uncivil comment. I seem to recall having an exceptionally bad day when I wrote that & I offer sincere apologies. I'm honestly not always that curmudgeonly, just have increasingly little patience for the proliferation of videos with a music bed seemingly for the sake of simply having a music bed. Your explanation is logical & your reasoning sound. Again, I apologize.
I came across your video as a local resident recently purchased the same model Harvey & I was curious to see it in action. (He has yet to get his assembled & running.) So, after eating a bit of humble pie, I did watch it all the way through & am very impressed with the machine itself and the
quality of your work. Beautiful piece!
@@OldMtnGeezer no problems at all, we all have them days buddy, i can assure you.... if your friend has any questions about the lathe feel free to ask, if i dont know myself im sure i can find out the answer for them :)
