Just a tip, if you use HEL brake hoses, they have banjo ends that you can rotate freely, so you don't have to worry about the orientation when ordering and when they're fully fitted, since you can adjust it later. I have it on my mini, makes it such a breeze to install!

I’m pretty sure it’s strongly recommended to use a large washer behind the castle nut when torquing up the wheel bearing. Then removing it before torquing the castle nut on again. I’m happy to be corrected thou. 😉
Love you content. It’s really great and always inspires me to get on with enjoying my own mini. Which spends farro much time parked up, I have to say 😬.

You are correct, You are supposed to torque it with a large flat washer first then undo and put in your split hub washer then torque it to spec. Only part he messed up on

Dont forget the castlenut on the cv-joint is metric on 'later' Mini's and older ones where in inches! Unfortunately dont know the change point. Only had Mk1-3 and Mk-6 Mini's.. Apart from that, an excellent guide how to do this conversion!

Thanks for the knowledge. This is important to know and the first real video on light patterns.
I know the 'low end' light options have build and light pattern issues.
So for my build, you have 'en-lighted' my build.

I looked for new brakes this week, but choose new stock brakes with vented and slotted discs with good pads. Saved me some cash to spend on other parts to upgrade.
Thanks to KAD to make these great parts for these terrific cars! I bought a KAD quick shifter this week, can't wait to use it!

Nice video. Did you also change the master cylinder? If not, what's in there? I'm curious how it impacted the pedal feel/travel.

Great video Phil. Deffo something I might look at on the Cooper S Traveller. Out of curiosity, is the brake pad wear sensor standard on the pads? Would be interesting to see how to wire that up to a light on the dash.

Drill hubs, grind steering arm and brake pad, braided lines. All these would fail a RWC / MOT / compliance in Australia so no insurance. Lucky shops here can do this work "for track use only".

Great Video! In general and specific to big brakes, is a brake booster recommended? I currently don’t have a brake booster and am not really happy with my stopping power. There are discs on the front but am not sure what they are. 67 MK 1

Do the vented disc brake better (distance) than the sólido disc brakes? Or are they less promed to fade?

Template in the links at the bottom of www.7ent.com/pages/articles-tech-tips/kad-caliper-info-which-calipers-do-i-need.html which you can use to check fit. It's tight. They fit my minilites. But only if the wheel balancing weights aren't on the inside of the wheel.

    • @adamturbo1
      @adamturbo1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Its a straight brake line. No issue. If the fitting at the end was at a 90 deg angle then yes thete is a problem. In this case though its fine.

Aluminium is all very well until you get corrosion occurring between any steel unions, bolts or washers. Then God help you. It’s one of the reasons I hate how Audi used aluminium on my A6 front brake callipers. In one place they used an aluminium washer that after many years simply disintegrated through galvanic corrosion.

Bullshit ! Used to run My S in C sedan in 72/73 . The brakes were so poor their use was relegated to save yer life emergencies.. only
Being 'use once' ...Whereupon the pads would quickly glaze over from the Brightly glowing 'discs (if you can call them that).
Only removal . grinding off the burnt pad faces would allow reuse.
Suppose if you only use your mini for Shopping excursions.. then the brakes may work.
But then I too often had my minis discs glow brightly in street use.
Mandatory to retro fit the biggest discs you can find with appropriate sized rims.
Purism won't do much you good....as you plow face first into a concrete wall.
