Everytime this song comes on. I picture myself actually hearing the whine and jakebrake of the truck cruising on an interstate and pressings the gas once in a while to feel the torque. I have so much respect for truckers.
I like both versions of this song, the other one is a lot sadder sounding like the lonely nights driving the road.. but this one is kind of like upbeat like he’s on his way home after dropping the load and finally can go see his family.
This is the only country band I can listen to song after song and not get tired. I like every one of their songs, which I cannot say for any other country band.
If it wasn't for my grandson I probably wouldn't have ever heard of Midland i haven't listened to country music since my mother and husband passed away in 2012. My grandson found country music and his favorites are Midland and Jon Pardi. Some day I hope to get him an autographed cd. Yeah the only thing I could find on google, was some 359’s and 352’s with Spicer Transmissions had true 14 speeds in the late 70s and early 80s but were basically 13 speeds with two extra half gears. They were more common in International Transtars. But judging by Midland’s sound this is probably what they are referring too. Personally I never heard of a 14speed either and couldn’t find any pictures online but still a good song, I assume if they ever made a video they would use a 359 or 352 to keep the 70s/80s vibe going.
I’ve never shifted a truck but I think the Eaton 13 is technically a 14, four low, four high, four split off the high gears, and a high and low reverse, but I’m not sure
I'm sad to say this but... I stopped supporting them, I used to love their "natural" sound. I feel like they became what the label wanted... Very sad, they kinda lost that original sound they had earlier in their career. It's just my personal opinion 😔✨ Too mainstream and too much overproduction.

Great song, even though there is no such thing as a 14 speed transmission. My Peterbilt does wind down that solid white line though.
Dana spicer makes one and also the Volvo mdrive is a 14speed ...and also a 13 speed with a splitter overdrive is 14
