Temi Fagbenle was a good addition. Rim runs and goes right up with the ball. Fits well for CC. I think AB likes the ball a little farther out than right under the basket. CC will adjust to that. Kelsey Mitchell shoots like she has a quota to meet before she thinks about passing the ball. As good as Kelsey is, she's not a team player. The Fever are still figuring it out. Can Sides figure it out?
Kelsey does what Kelsey does well. Trying to score on her own. That doesn't mean she isn't a "team player" Clark does she does and she doesn't share the ball as much as she could either. At some point you have too many people who need the ball in their hand to be effective and someone(s) have to go.
@@ReadR00ster1no disrespect intended but Clark literally passes the ball a lot. The team is either not catching the ball or missing wide open shots. Clark could be averaging at least 10 assists if players made wide open layups and shots. To be fair some of Clark shots are at the wrong time and looks really bad when they don’t go in
@ReadR00ster1 Kelsey is very skilled. How many times have you seen Kelsey kick the ball out when driving to the basket? Not many, and her ast numbers show that. CC averages 6.4 ast a game 4th in the W. I don't know how she can share the ball more unless you are suggesting she never shoots herself. Kelsey average is 1.9, so the numbers speak for themselves.
My first video of yours. The best breakdown of the Fever I have seen. Agreed with all your points. Erica Wheeler dribbles to nowhere. Has no interest in passing the ball to Caitlin. Erica's contract is pretty much untradeable. I assume teams would still have to fit it under their salary cap. Kelsey Mitchell is a gunner. Neither of these players add anything to the defensive end. Indiana only has one real defensive player on their team. That is Celeste Taylor. She can hit a spot up 3, which most of her teammates has not. She will work with CC and she can run the court. Sides refuses to play her, except for a few scrub minutes. Taylor does a lot of things Kate Martin did for CC at Iowa. Sides is not a head coach. Will see if Lin Dunn can flip this roster between trade deadline and the start of next season. Playoffs is out of the question.
I don’t understand why they don’t play Taylor, Mitchell is a ball hog and some of the other players just suck. A good coach would play them all and see who best fits with Clark.
Agree with Wheeler, Mitchell trade. Wheeler wants to control the ball and Mitchell wants to always score. She has no assist in her. Wallace also has been a non team player. Caitlyn needs players that are team oriented and can play with fast breaks. Bottom line is Fever doesn’t play as a team. Only about 2 players pass the ball. Fegbenle and Clark.
Megan Gustafson plays for the Aces. She signed a two year contract with them before the season started. That means she is currently teamed up witn fellow Hawkeye and LV fan favorite Kate Martin, who is also CC's best friend.
Great in-depth analysis. Agree with pretty much everything you said. The chemistry isn't there. As you said, it needs to happen soon. In this league you just don't get very long, and the best coaches know the quickest ways to get there. The best coaches also make their players better as part of that process.
I fully understand the comment about some players on the Indiana bench not getting enough playing time. On the other hand, I'm also thinking that, by leaving the main players on the court, the coach is giving them more opportunity to develop some kind of chemistry. Eventually, it will come--but it takes time and shuttling players in and out may not help things. Then again, it's possible that all it takes is one good substitution to really make things work. Likewise, the need for a really good enforcer shouldn't be overlooked either.
Sides is in love with Wallace and Wheeler. She brought three of those players (Caldwell was waived this season) with her from Atlanta. She is a pitiful excuse for a coach.
I'd trade Wheeler, she hasn't bonded/ineffective w CC22. Coach Sides has to create pic/rolls Boston high post & CC22. Screen CC22's left side, then break for the rim expecting a surgical pass.
This proves that Indiana problems come from the top and also pass through the coaching staff. Typical case if a looser franchise with the best player from the draft. That dream of having Marbrey was a good one! But at the end it's just a dream. Indiana Dreams!!
Sides needs to go, i totally agreed with the first video you made. I dont understand why she refuses to play Lexie or Celeste, Lexie has proven herself to be one of the best defenders in the league. She makes the person she is defending exhaust themselves just trying to get open to get the basketball. She is a great off ball cutter, most of her points are from backdoor cuts. Been a Fever fan for a while, since TC, they had a really good rookie class 3 years ago, and they wasted their talent then.
For the Fever, it is indeed a matter of coaching and chemistry. As a coach, Sides has been inconsistent even in having consistent offensive sets, to say nothing of slow rotations on defense. As a team, there have been too many fumbled passes and missed shots from three feet combined with too much dribbling and shot-seeking by players such as Mitchell.
Fever issues mostly rely on 2 things lack of quality vets and defense. Fever offensively was average last season but the defense outside of Boston was pretty trash. Knowing they were going to draft Clark, not known for her defense they should have definitely went after defensive minded players. Instead of going after KLS i would have went after Rebecca Allen. Also in terms of vets i would have kept Emma Cannon on the roster. She really try to look after the rookies last season and is more level headed than those on team. Also completely changing the offense for Clark was a horrible idea. Going all in on Clark has prevented Boston to really play her game with the patience and poised that made her great. Adapting rhe gameplan to allow both players to have their moments in the offense is desperately needed. I don't think its a coincidence that the Fever only won games when Caitlin wasn't as high usuage and wasn't expected to score as much.
Wow you’re the only podcaster that talks about the WNBA that actually has a working knowledge about the dump! Subscribed. Now say how stupid they are not putting Caitlin on the Olympic team.
I think Wallace, Wheeler, Mitchell and Coach Sides should all go. Somehow. Trades would be most advantageous for the team obviously but the issue there is mainly other teams are just as impressed as the rest of us are with this group. Mitchell may be a scorer but that is all she is. She plays with a quota. Her own. Sides obviously cannot be traded. She must go. She is destroying each player on this team. Clark will eventually suffer as well. Already is actually.
