      BOGObiology I don’t know if you’ve already done a video on this yet but maybe a video on bacteria and the exchange of genetic information, like with plasmids? Also maybe a video on biotechnology? Thank you again !

      Thanks, Obey! I also really wish this had existed earlier; this would've been AMAZING to have when I was in undergrad. (TH-cam existed back then, but it was still mostly silly cat videos). Sending you love and best wishes from Boston! -BOGO

    Can someone explain to me what radioactive is?? I can't grasp it even searching on it on google

    • @BOGObiology
      @BOGObiology  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Isotopes are just different "flavors" or variations of the same element. They have the same number of protons, but different numbers of neutrons. This means that isotopes are either heavier or lighter than the "regular" version of the atom. Radioactive isotopes are different flavors that also have excess energy in addition to having different numbers of neutrons. They release this energy in a variety of different ways, including by making gamma rays, releasing electrons, or by releasing particles out of their nucleus.
      In this experiment, using a different variety of sulfur and phosphorous just allows scientists to easily keep track of what happens to it over time. Hope that helps!
