I could swear David grabs a tuner while he's playing just to look cool. I don't usually hear a difference, but I know he is correcting his string pitch legitimately on most occasions. He's such a fabulous entertainer and musician. It's funny to think about. I have met him and did 2 master classes with him.

I gotta say, I like the speed hes playing this piece at. This gives it the metal touch, along with his extremely aggressive picking he had back then. I really dont think he plays it that stressed because its so damn difficult, something that happens to most of us I guess, but because he just got a aggressive flow when he started to play. Long sentence....

This piece is an absolute referent for the classical guitar, and is so difficult that you will find few concert players that attempt it live. There is a version by Julian Bream that also is mind-boggling and a bit more lyrical. But after watching something like this marvel by David Russell I don´t really know whether to sit down to study or just give up on it and watch tv or something.

If you admit that you can not play it you shouldnt be telling others that can what they are doing wrong.
There are so many wannabe guitar teachers and experts on youtube who constantly talk shit about other peoples performances without having the balls to post their own performances.
People like this make me sick, and you wouldnt say it to his face, youtube shouldnt be an exception.

JulianBream es asi ,aaaayyy Williams es asa , lograr la solvencia tecnica con cualquier instrumento es muy trabajoso si se le suma sensibilidad artistica es el summum no todos lo logran esos que tanto califican quisiera oirlos tocar

Yes, and the teacher of malmsteen was Chuck Norris.
Why people so often put artists against each others...?
They Both bring Beauty and Strenth in our heart. I feel grateful for this... we all should try to define ourself not by what we reject but by how open we can be to so different propositions of music...
You're right : all the musiciens you name are wonderful guys with great talent and great respect. So is russell and Many others too. And they are all in debt with musicians of the past. And the Huge segovia was not right about electric guitar...
but all this is only an opinion From an anonymous of the XXI ST century.

posting as a former member of the original Yngwie Malmsteen International Fan Club (who saw him when he was young and pretty), and also as someone who runs a classical guitar web site, i think you're just plain wrong -- YM isn't a classical guitarist, in fact there's no reason to think he's interested in the classical guitar (at least as 99.9% of classical guitarists understand the term) -- no one disputes his love of classical music -- and of course he mixes in lots of classical riffs and arpeggios when he's playing -- and sure, he occasionally picks up an acoustic and plink plonks his way through the intro to one of JSB's simpler tunes -- and yes, he has written a concerto for electric guitar and orchestra -- but that doesn't make him a classical guitarist

Malmsteen, even with his admirable skill, uses only a small portion of the capabilities of the guitar. Not to mention, that his music is absolute garbage and its "classical" influence is nothing but the overuse of Vivaldish licks, which covers an imaginably tiny fraction of all that classical music offers.
I'd like to see a Malmsteen piece that actually has musical development, or is sonata form, or using a fugue. Because of what I've heard, his music is nothing but pop shred metal.
